tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8217008236703739106.post766031478686818169..comments2024-02-29T03:55:02.941-05:00Comments on method lust + nathan aaron: plastic bag militia - updated!Nathan Aaron http://www.blogger.com/profile/05436182125301809434noreply@blogger.comBlogger4125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8217008236703739106.post-23081999571391053622008-06-17T17:49:00.000-04:002008-06-17T17:49:00.000-04:00ok...not to sound too naive. i understand why plas...ok...not to sound too naive. i understand why plastic bags are so bad for the environment...i get that. here's my question...is the hope that by not taking plastic bags, we will show the plastic bag makers that people don't use them and therefore there is no need to make them anymore? because obviously by not taking one you're not really saving one from being made (i mean the bag is still there). i know this is all obvious observation. and what about paper bags? are they ok? and if they are, then how come retailers aren't replacing plastic with paper. or are we now getting into the cutting down trees issue? well then they could make paper bags out of recycled paper. what if in 10 years they realize these tote bags are causing land-fill problems...what then? i'm just saying. really though, i am in support of reusable totes because i am so sick of ALL the flippin' plastic bags under my sink...even though i do reuse them (but that still means they eventually end up in the trash). but, like kristin, i forget to take the totes with me...booo!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8217008236703739106.post-37421562069272060102008-06-17T12:42:00.000-04:002008-06-17T12:42:00.000-04:00I can relate to Kristin, I have some food shopping...I can relate to Kristin, I have some food shopping totes from my neighborhood supermarket and I always forget to take them when I go grocery shopping and then don't realize what I have done until I get home and put the plastic bags into my recycling container.Ugh!!<BR/>I carry my "plastic bag rehab" tote that I got from the NY pop up shop in my purse (it folds up) and I am proud to admit that my last couple of purchases have gone into my tote. I am making some progress.
