get-'n-gone!

UPDATE Seems sea minerals surface spray is also on clearance at Target! So grab some of that, too!...

Head on over to your local Target right now to find clearance deals on method's stainless steel for real, and lavender cedar 25 load products! Target is probably just clearancing out the lavender cedar 25 load, while retaining the 50 load bottles. But I'd look forward to a reformulated stainless steel cleaner to hit store shelves soon! I'm making a guess here (I've been doing that a lot lately!) but that's my official thought!

Until then, though, grab the deals before they're gone!

clean sweeps

+ method's got themselves a sparkly new website! Make sure you check it out over at www.methodhome.com! Some of the navigation is a little "hidden" (but I do sincerely like it! - example: to get to the store, click on the word products in their title "method creates products for people against dirty.") People against dirty takes you to their blog, etc. It takes a little searching, but once you figure it out, it's a snap!

This also makes me feel the aircare line is moreso heading for a revamp, rather than a discontinued status. The product line is second only to their home cleaning line (with 48 products), so let's keep our fingers crossed! Let me know what you think of the new site design!

Oh, And right now, you can get yourself a shiny new $1.00 coupon off of their new site! Whee!

+ Looks like Target is clearancing both the stainless steel "steel for real", and the granite "daily granite" wipes. Pick some up, before they're gone from Target!

+ Next time you pick up a bottle of method's refresh mint or waterflower foaming hand wash, you might notice it's gotten a bit more colorful. I'm not sure if this is a quality control issue, or method just decided to brighten some of their colors; but the green and pink is REALLY green and pink now! I noticed this during a recent trip to Target. Random, I know. But hey, I'm a random kind of guy!

new (old) finds!

Well, well! Check out my latest finds on today's road trip to Big Lots! I wasn't really expecting anything to pop up (other than the old packaging wipes reader Jamison had mentioned earlier last week.) But there was a slew of new stuff!

I picked up some method free + clear laundry detergent (they've had the sweet water for a while now, but I'm so excited they got the free + clear!) $3.00 people! Crazy! And I snatched up a refill bag of ginger yuzu hand wash (can you believe this is my FIRST ever bag hand wash refill purchase?! I know, I know... well, wait, I did purchase some of the hard bottle refills a zillion years ago, so does that count? Eh. Who knows!) $2.50 (for about three bottles worth of hand wash refill!) And they had, oh my I squealed like a pig (but in a good way!) when I saw them, nectarine blossom wet dryer sheets! OH YES! I grabbed up some of those, as well! $2.50! I also decided to buy up the last remaining fig candles they had sitting around, since those suckers are about gone (they've been at my Big Lots forever, and I'll buy a couple at a time, but I'm not rich, so I couldn't just pick up every last one. But there were a few remaining today, and I knew that was going to be it for my fig lust, so I caved!)

BUT, they have a ton more stuff I didn't get. Sweet water hand wash bottles ($2.00), peppermint vanilla plug-in double pack refills ($4.00), hollyberry aroma sticks ($6.00), hollyberry aroma rings ($4.00), beach sage plug-in refills ($2.50), cut grass plug-in + refill pack ($4.00), steel for real wipes ($2.50), and pink grapefruit wipes (and Jamison said his has wood for good, and granite wipes. I didn't see them at the three (yes, YES, three! LOL) stores I went to. They ALL had exactly the same thing.) And they had a ZILLION peppermint vanilla plug-in refills. I mean, a ZILLION.

One day I'm gonna have to sit down with those method folks and get the lowdown on how this stuff gets divided out? I'm just really curious. I was DYING to find some lavender + lemongrass wet dryer sheets, but NO one had anything but about five boxes at each store of the nectarine blossom. What's up with that? Cause the whole line was discontinued. OH, my lavender + lemongrass dryer sheets, I LUST you so! And I'm down to my last box. Sniff. I guess it'll just be nectarine blossom from here on out. AND, why a zillion peppermint vanilla refills, but no hollyberry or cinnamon bark ones? (Cause these were from that year's line.) Isn't that odd?

Let me know if you find anything different at your local Big Lots! And happy hunting!

PS - LOL, and method luster Brit just posted this in the comments (I hadn't noticed! She beat me to it!) "I just got a nice Method find at a Big Lots is Mass. Everything from soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, dish soap, candles, aroma pills, wipes and stuff like that. Does Method make, or use to make, Nectarine Blossom laundry soap? I found the dryer sheets, now I want the soap lol."

Cool! What scent dish soap and candles did you find? The old ceramic candles? I'm curious! We didn't get any new candles in at my store, as the two I picked up have been there forever. And sadly, no, method never made nectarine blossom laundry soap. Just dryer sheets! But don't they rock! Mmm...

silver and gold (well, really, just silver)

I've been hearing some comments from fellow method lusters that they've been chosen to take part in some special advocate testing of a new stainless steel cleaning/polish product. Apparently method is working on improving their current cleaner, steel for real.

Chosen advocates received two bottles of cleaner, each marked with a different colored sticker, and they are to use each for ten days, write down their thoughts, notes, etc. in a daily dairy they were also given; then send it all back to method! Sounds great, I lust that method chooses advocates to give their new products a test try! I can't wait to hear more about this updated (or new?) product!

Poor Nathan wonders why he wasn't chosen to be a test subject, though? Uhm, he runs this little blog thing called method lust, and would LOVE to do this kind of thing! Yowza. Yes, this is me pandering to method. Ok? I'm not above it. In fact, I'm really way below it. WAY below. Willing to do anything? Ok, well, I'm not sure ANYTHING. You'd have to tell me what it was, then I'd let you know.

(PS - method, please choose me next testing! Oh, purty please!) I'll keep you posted when I hear more.

Have a quick look at the new steel for real, wood for good, and leather love flat pack wipes packaging! These should be showing up at your local stores very soon (if they're not already there.)

steel for real

While roaming Target yesterday, I came upon the new packaging for the stainless steel line. They've changed the name, giving it something quirky to go along with Wood For Good (wood cleaner), Best In Glass (glass cleaner), and The Daily Granite (granite cleaner.) Cute! It's called Steel For Real! (It used to just be called uh, stainless steel cleaner. Quite the upgrade!) So with this in mind, I decided to run a review on this product!

"We have a stainless steel sink and range top in our motorhome, and it can take a beating when we are out camping for a week at a time. Since Method Cleaning products are in limited supply in Alaska, I always stock up when we visit relatives in the Lower 48 states. We just left Texas and Wyoming and are now in Colorado. I am making my family believers in the Method family of cleaning products!

My most recent Method purchases were Lavender All Purpose wipes, Lavender Air Freshener, and this Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish.

I was hoping that this cleaner would remove the black grime that builds up on stainless steel sinks. I have a paste stainless steel cleaner that will turn my cleaning cloth black and really make my sinks shine.

The method cleaner isn't as strong as these paste stainless cleaners, however. It did a mediocre job of removing grime, but it didn't remove any black marks or scratches like my paste cleaner did.

What I did love about this Method Stainless Steel Cleaner is the fact that if I start with a clean sink, it will most likely keep it clean. I spray a small amount of the cleaner into my sink, then wipe with a damp cloth, going in a circular motion until all of the surface area has been cleaned. It is recommended that you wipe with the grain of the metal as much as possible. As soon as I wipe the surface dry, (it can be done with a separate cloth), there remains a transparent protective barrier (polish) on my sink, that makes water bead up on the surface. This keeps the sink much cleaner as the water doesn't sit there and leave those nasty hard water spots or residue that so often happen with stainless steel sinks.

What I like the best about this product is it's ability to clean stainless steel or other metal faucets. It cleans the water and soap spots off with very little elbow grease, and keeps them looking shiny and clean for several days at a time. It does a good job of making the metals look new. Works well on pewter too.

My sister-in-law has all stainless steel appliances, including a refrigerator. This product did clean them well and made them shiny, however the polish didn't really do much to keep small fingerprints from appearing on the surface. I had hoped that since it formed such a nice protective barrier in the sink that it would do the same for the fridge, but it didn't work as well.

The spray is gentle and won't scratch like the abrasive, gritty powder-like cleaners can. Only a small amount is needed to clean and protect the sink, so one bottle should last quite a long time. If too much cleaner is used, there may be some streaking - just use less and this will solve the problem. The bottle looks attractive enough to sit on the countertop.

I love that this product is all natural, with no toxic chemicals and obnoxious odors. It will polish the surface and help keep it clean from fingerprints, soaps and water spots. The shine it leaves on faucets is quite impressive. I just wish it would clean dirty stainless steel better than it does, it would not remove scratches and lightened a few darkened areas.

My personal experiences with the product have been pretty good. I would agree with her that I think the spray does a better job of maintaining over heavy duty cleaning. But I still think it's a great product! And did you know it's scent is orchard blossom? Who knew!
