scent heaven

New method luster James (and recent aroma ring winner!) has a wonderful question!

"...I discovered method probably 2-3 years ago, but I was limited to what Target carried. Now I see on your site all of these fragrances in method scent heaven that I've never heard of...like he got me flowers, etc. Any way we could get a blog post on what products those various scents were offered in?"

I think that's a great idea! Many scents have gone the way of the dodo (Unforunately. For the scents, AND the dodo! I bet you the dodo would have loved method scents, ya know?) So here, for new lusters (and old ones that just wish to reminisce) is a list of scents you'll find on the right side bar titled method scent heaven, and what products carried them! Enjoy!

+ premium candle line (available only online and at Linens N' Things): apricot basil, chocolate martini, crème brûlée, fresh laundry, fresh lime, he brought me flowers, paris rain, rose petal, and spiced berries

+ spray cleaner: bamboo (kitchen spray), coral (glass cleaner), cucumber melon, and grapefruit mandarin (kitchen spray) (method spray cleaner used to come in specifics, kitchen, bathroom, and all-purpose. Now they're each all-surface (with the exception of glass, daily shower, and tub + tile)

+ body wash: (first line) cassis flower, lavender thyme, and mango mint; (bloq line - includes lotion, bar soap, *w/shaving cream) beach sage, citron leaf*, and green mint*

+ aircare line (aroma spray, candle, & pill, *w/ capsule): creamy vanilla (candle only), fig, freesia blossom*, grapefruit pear*, gardenia (candle only), red currant (candle only), and snow days (candle only)

+ hand wash (gel): ginger yuzu (also in foaming), lemongrass, mandarin + bergamot, pomegranate, and pumpkin spice

+ holiday line (candle, dish soap, hand wash, pill refills, & spray cleaner, *w/aroma beads): cinnamon bark*, frosted cranberry, hollyberry*, mistletoe (candle only), peppermint vanilla*, and snowy days (candle only)

+ hand lotion: (first line) signature scent, french lavender, and snowy days

+ vroom car care line: basil verbana, lavender vanilla, mandarin melon, and seaflower

+ floorcare cleaner: rosemary mint

Whew! There you go! (Did I miss any?)

to dull, or not to dull?

Wonderful friend Sam was really excited recently when I got him a brand spanking new method omop! He has like, a zillion miles of wood flooring in his house, so I knew it would be perfect for him! Plus that almond scent is just Heavenly! (Well, I think so. And if I think so, then so should everyone else. OH oh, I'm just joking. A little...)

So I visited his home yesterday, and noticed the omop, and wood for good cleaner sitting out. I said "OHH! So have you used it yet?" and he said he had, but didn't think it would work for his floors. "Why?" I asked. And he told me he thought the cleaner had actually dulled his wood floors.

Now, me, I LUST the stuff! I use it on my hardwood floors (and I realize wood flooring differs from home to home) but I've never had a problem with it. To my knowledge, the wood for good is moreso a floor CLEANER, and not a floor polisher, anyway. My floors don't shine and sparkle after I clean them, but they're all clean, spotless and dust free!

So I'm curious what other people's experiences have been with their wood for good cleaner, and their wonderful wood floors? Did you have a dull experience? Or was everything spic and span?

(PS - And don't go giving up on the omop (if you decide not to use it on your wood flooring), Sam! Don't forget, it's amazing for dusting the floors! Slap a cleaning pad on it (dry) and run around that house! I don't even use the compostable cloths anymore, just the cleaning pads; which I then wash, and reuse!)

(Thanks to happy mundane for the photo)

and the winners are!

It's a double guy win this time around! The winners (randomly chosen), each of one wonderous aroma ring, are Mark Holmquist and James Mckee! Congrats guys!

Mark says:
"Nate, you have been my eyeopener to method. I have been scouring my area for method stuff on your suggestions. Your site is great. If I am so chosen to get an aroma ring I will carry on your tradition of spreading the method around."

James says:
"Nathan...I discovered your blog a few weeks ago when googling about the cut grass scent (which by the way is my allllll time favorite scent. It hurts my heart that method didn't have any grass pills this year at target). I'm totally addicted to method and now I'm totally addicted to your blog! I sooooo need this aroma ring. Thanks to your blog, I want to do a "stained glass" window of aroma rings... so I'm gonna need a few! One from your collection is a start!"

Guys, be sure to send me your mailing information, and I'll get those right out to you! Thanks to everyone who entered, and keep on the lookout for the next method lust contest!

PS - Kirby, for the love of all mankind, please throw out that taco. Today. Right now. Do not pass go. Thank you. Ha ha!

going soft sell...

You know, I think I learned something today? Perhaps "shouting it from the rooftops" doesn't, well you know, always work? Perhaps whispering it on occasion might bring you bigger success. Case in point...

So, I'm all one for pushing some method products on my friends and family. In fact, I'm sort of starting to worry about over doing it a bit. Like if I don't mention method in at least one conversation I have with my friends, they will both a) wonder what's wrong with me, and miss the mention but/and b) be SO sick of hearing about method, scream and never invite me to anything again! I think it's all in my head, though. There are lots of scary things up there, trust me. Why not fit in one more. There you go, all nice and snug. Now, don't go fighting up there. I don't need any more headaches. The headaches make the boogey men appear... ALRIGHT, where were we?

And honestly, I haven't made a winner yet. Oh, a few of my friends have given it a fleeting glance, but no hard hitters. What's a method luster to do? Well, maybe mentioning SOMETHING about method HERE or THERE but barely at all will do the trick, eh?

I have this one friend, Ronnie. We go to church together, and will usually eat lunch afterwards. I'm sure on a few times I've mentioned method to Ronnie during these times (cause, again, when do I NOT mention method?) but seriously, Ronnie is one, well, uhm, sorta kinda stuck in his ways type of guy. He's great, don't get me wrong. But he does what he does, and that's that. So imagine to my surprise when a month or so ago, we're talking for a bit on the phone, and he mentions he's gone out and purchased some method hand wash and soap bars. Wha? I'm sorry, we must have a scratchy connection, I thought you just said... and he did! But but, I never even gave you the hard sell? I didn't even consider... cool. He told me after mentioning this, that it better be good, or else!

So today, we're sitting in church, talking all sorts of church things (otherwise known as: not church things!) and he says to me, out of the blue "Well, you've got me totally hooked on method products!" And I'm like, SERIOUSLY?! And he says "Yes. I've purchased the laundry detergent, and the dish detergent in go naked, and I love the soap bars! They're so great!" And I'm just in awe! Excited awe! Someone actually got hooked onto method, because I (barely) mentioned it to them!

Ok, what's the lesson here? Speak softly and carry a big stick? No no, that's not it. Today is the first day of the rest of your life? Well, nah, that's not it either. Hmm...

OH, I got it. "Never, never, never give up." Thank you, Winston Churchill!

method's feelin'

method home's updated their "feeling" statement at the top left side of their site. It now says:

"method is a proud parent. both co-founders, Adam + Eric, welcomed new babies into their families this past week. more baby line?"

Wow! Is there something in the water over there? well, method lust wants to be the first (blog!) to say YAY! CONGRATS! And I'm sure they'd lust it if all you fellow method lusters sent Adam and Eric your own congratulations! (And yes, we'd love more squeaky green baby + kids line!)

change o' heart

During my trip to Florida I walked into my best friend Rich's apartment, and sitting right there on his side table was the new method bamboo aroma ring! I immediately mentioned it, to which he exclaimed "I just KNEW you already had one!" I responded that, actually, I did not at this moment have one. Explaining my thoughts on how the aroma ring just didn't work for me.

Well, during my three day stay, let me just say I had a change of heart towards the aroma ring. Because he not only had the bamboo ring, but in fact, there were around five rings throughout the house. Three in the living room, one in the bathroom, one in the bedroom, etc. And his house smelled fragrantly of mingling sweet water, cut grass, and vanilla apple! He has a smaller place than I do, so I guess method really is right when they say the aroma ring is made for smaller rooms. Because it was working up a storm in his apartment!

So if you haven't already given them a try, now might be the time to do it. Especially with the limited edition bamboo ring currently in stores.

+

IN fact, how about this. I have three aroma rings! And I'd like to give two of them away (these are the white plastic rings.) Unfortunately, they are only the rings, no refills. (But those are easy to purchase in Target! Try the pomegranate tea scent, Heavenly!) So here's the thing? How would you like me to send you one of these rings? If you're interested, just leave a comment telling me why you need an aroma ring (nothing too detailed. Just something whimsical, fun, short to the point.) and an email address. And I'll choose two people to send aroma rings their way! "Contest" ends October 4th, 2008.

moment of lust - lil' bowl blu + le scrub roundup

Hey, remember this? method lust's moment of lust where I post a moment of lust every other week. At the end of the second week, I'll repost the previous moment, and have everyone give their results after using the product! (Ok, I'm a few days behind here, sorry! I apologize! Just the norm here on method lust, now ain't it?)

So the first product selection(s) was lil' bowl blu and le scrub! Those great method bathroom items! You only had to purchase one, unless you were feeling crazy that day, and test it out! Did you do it? Did you pick up the product and give it a two week try? What were your thoughts! Did you take this challenge?

who doesn't lust a good man in a uniform...

...Oh, it's not THAT kind of Marine, is it? Oh, ok, sorry there. Well, method has announced the big marine naturals line, sending out an email today! In case you're not on their mailing list (yet!), it reads (also available on their people against dirty blog):

"We’re so excited about our newest line of personal care products! Like all method products, we give you the good stuff – refreshing ingredients like sea salts and kelp extracts – without the bad – like EDTA, which bonds to heavy metals in waterways, or triclosan, an anti-bacterial officially classified as a pesticide by the EPA.

In fact, with fragrances like sea minerals, water flower, and refresh mint, it’s so invigorating that it reminds us of our skinny-dipping days. come on, you know you’ve done it too. We’re so sure that you have a good skinny-dipping story that we’ll send out some free Marine Naturals to the person that leaves the best one here in the comments section, or on the wall of our Facebook page by Friday, Oct. 10. Just, er, keep it clean, ok folks?

Look for Marine Naturals at Target and other retailers."

+

Take note of that last line. It appears they don't have plans to sell marine naturals on the method home site as of this moment! I know that's disappointing for some lusters out there that have yet to find it at their local Target. Hopefully it'll hit soon! In the meantime, go read those skinning dipping stories!
