shower power

method luster Karin had a question for me:

"this is off topic...sorry nate, but i wasn't sure where i should ask this question. so i've seen several mentions of the 'daily shower spray'...is this stuff truly spectacular? i have purchased other ds sprays and felt they didn't have much impact on my shower cleaning. but it's been mentioned so many times on here that it caught my eye."

To which I replied, quite honestly:

"Hey! Well, honestly, I don't know. I LOVE it, but I think it's more because of the scent than anything else. I haven't really seen it clean my bathtub like crazy or anything; but then I bet I probably don't use it as often (I forget at times) as I should. Luster Steve says he hasn't cleaned his tub in 4 years! since using the spray, so it's working for him! I think it's best if you start with a really great clean shower/tub; and go from there. That way you're maintaining, and not trying to get the tub clean by using the daily shower. I WISH I could find an honest to goodness natural way to get rid of mildew and mold in the bathroom! Any ideas, people?"

Ok, with me so far? Here's where it gets interesting. Here's the thing, I shower twice a day (once in the morning, once at night. Hey hey, I'm normal! Leave me alone!) So you know, I tend to run out of the daily shower spray pretty fast. So at times, I tend not to use it as regularly as I should (read, once in the morning, once at night.) Hence, perhaps my lackluster results with the spray actually cleaning my shower over time. Don't use regularly = lackluster results.

BUT, get this. Right after I send this response to method lust land, for Kristin. This very morning I hop into the shower, and what do I see? Why a few small flakes of mildew/mold, that have fallen off the caulking between the tub and the wall (I know it all sounds gross! But everyone has this problem, ok, it's not just me. It's that annoying mold/mildew on the caulking, that's what that stuff's called, right? problem.) And I go, HUH! Wait a minute. I've been (finally!) attempting to use my spray perfectly regularly lately, and just see how things go long term. And already, are these results? Am I eating my previous words? Is it just a coincidence?

Or is it perhaps the method Gods, letting me know they work hard for their money, and I bett'ah! treat them right!

Hmm... time will tell! What's your experience with method's daily shower spray been like? Tell us!

sneak peek - scrub!

method's new marine naturals sea minerals body scrub! (Whew, that's a mouth full!) Part of the new body line, set to debut in early Fall (I'm still hoping late August! Keep your fingers crossed!) Now you can scrub away all the nasty, bad, sad parts of your life.

My entire life would be in the tub.

Nah, I jest, I jest.

Or do I?

Enjoy!

sneak peek - flame on!

OH my! Those feeling on the fence about method's aircare candle line redesign should feel that way no longer! Look at these gorgeous new glass (now recyclable!) candle jars. Are they not amazing? They keep the original feel of the Karim ceramic jar, while making them fresh and new! I sincerely think they're beautiful! (And I bet they'd make just as good dessert cups as the ceramic ones did!)

These should be hitting stores mid-August. Pictured above are the gingerbread + spice and sweet water scents. Enjoy! Look for a couple more sneak peeks later this week! Just wait 'til you get a look at the new lavender + lemongrass nightlight aroma pill. Oh!

taken for granite

I bet this has been out for a while now, but JUST in case, I thought I'd make mention that I just found a granite refill bottle at Target! It looks exactly like a spray cleaner bottle, but instead of having a trigger nozzle, it has a simple screw on/pop top cap. And it allows you to refill your granite spray bottle, just like the shower spray and hand wash refills! How cool is that!

I wonder why they haven't done this with the stainless steel, and especially the wood for good cleaners! I use up some wood for good like mad, a refill would be great! Perhaps this is a test concept to see how it flies (but why choose granite? Is it popular?) Has this product refill been out forever, and I'm just clueless? (No granite for me = no granite spray, hence never really noticing that section of the store/method product line.)

clean sweeps

Off on one my multiple Target trips this weekend (looking for the ever elusive new method aircare items. I know, I know. Patience. Here's the thing, when they say things are debuting in August, I'm like YAY August 1st is here! Not realizing that it will usually be more like mid to late August, you know, I'm just so impatient. Plus what's up with Steve having found the new aroma sprays like, two weeks ago? Huh? Not fair! Anyway...) still no luck, but I did discover three interesting method items of note:

+ Apparently Target is clearancing the water lily + aloe fabric softener. I'm not sure if this means method is discontinuing it, or not. But given the latest shake-up with their laundry line, I'd run out and grab some bottles while you still can. (Just in case.) Targets look to continue carrying the fresh air scent, as that was not priced for clearance.

+ A fellow luster wrote in recently mentioning that Target was clearancing the omops! I mentioned they were probably clearancing out the original packaging versions, replacing them with the new bamboo packaging. But on closer look today, I believe they are actually clearancing out the general purpose floor care omops, and will only be carrying the wood floor care omops from now on. Probably to save shelf space. Of course you'll still be able to purchase the ginger-lemon floor cleaner and cleaning cloth; you'll just have to purchase it separately now, instead of in the intro kit. (Unless you purchase it from method home.)

+ Target is also clearancing the wood for good microfiber cloths. I'm not sure what's going on here. Perhaps method is trying out a new packaging style on the cloths, and is starting with the wood for good? Not sure. Seems to me the granite and steel cloths would be purchased less than wood; so I can't imagine it's a sales thing for Target (as those cloths were not clearanced.) Time will tell. I'll see if I can found out.

+ And OH, for those that want reed/oil diffuser refills. (NO, wait, don't get excited.) But Target has this new line of aroma plug-ins, and diffusers, etc. in their candle section. It's only at one of my Targets, so perhaps they're testing the concept; but today I noticed they are carrying a package of reed refills (10 reeds!) (With their oil refills, as well. But you have to purchase them separately for some reason.) But I was so excited, as I didn't know where you could even go to get new reeds. I pondered weird ideas like tearing out the wick of an aroma pill refill and pouring that into one of my diffuser vases and using the reed refills; and such. But decided to wait. But I was excited to see this offer from the Target brand. Perhaps it'll give method some inspiration for their product. We want refills! ($12.99 is just WAY too much to pay every time you want some more reed diffusers!)

aircare extreme makeover!

Come on... the return of aroma enhancer sprays, new smarty dish cubes, marine naturals body wash and scrub, pomegranate tea and gingerbread + spice fall edition aircare scents, new squeaky green laundry detergent and dryer cloths... and more! Oh my word!

That's not enough, is it? Nah, not really. I mean, come on, it's method's eighth year birthday month! We're not playin' around here! Let's celebrate! How about a brand new aircare line makeover! SHO'nough!

Get ready, I just got some mind blowing news tonight about some amazing new aircare items and redesigns we'll be seeing very shortly in stores! Many lusters have already noticed the clearancing of the method aircare candles, and oddly, the lavender + lemongrass pill set, and more! What's going on here?! Well, never fear, it's great news! Are you ready? Are you sitting down. This news is so big, I had to release it over the weekend (and I never do that!) I'm so excited!

Alright...

+ First, method's candles are heading back to glass containers (I'm not sure if they'll retain their iconic Karim design/shape, we'll have to wait and see! I'd be surprised if method changed this, BUT I also know they like to constantly shake things up, so who knows!) They've decided to go back to glass (the candles originally came in glass, before redesigning the line, and using ceramic) since glass is actually recyclable, and ceramic unforunately is not (but they make great dessert cups!) So look for all your favorite candle scents back soon, in glass containers!

+ Method is doing a new test concept for their aroma rings! Specifically in the sweet water scent (are you ready for this??) the ring will be made out of bamboo! OH my word! I hear it simply rocks! And looks SWEET! Bamboo aroma rings! Not plastic! I can't wait! One more exclamation point! There you go.

+ And a biggie (a lot of people have been wanting this) they are re-releasing the lavender + lemongrass pill set (no, lavender + lemongrass is not being discontinued! Hallelujah! It's my favorite!) in a nightlite concept! HOW COOL is that! I can't wait! Oh, wait, I already said that!...

+ The aroma pills will now have single and twin refill packs. So you won't have to purchase two at one time, if you don't wish to! They used to be available in single; then went to only twin; and now they'll be available in both!

+ Look for aroma sticks (in their new streamlined vases!) to come in sweet water, lemongrass + lavender, and now vanilla apple.

+ The four main scents are: sweet water, lemongrass + lavender, vanilla apple, and citrus cilantro.

+ The fall scents will come as follows:
Pomegranate Tea - single pill refill, air enhancer spray, candle, aroma ring refill
Gingerbread Spice - pill refill twin, air enhancer spray, candle

The candles, bamboo rings, and aroma air enhancer sprays are heading to stores as I type this! The rest will play catch up! How excited are you? I can't... no, I won't say it again. (psst, I can't wait!)

NO, I don't have pics at the moment, but as soon as I can get my grubby little hands on some, I'll post them pronto! You know I will. I take care of my own kind! Let method lust know if you start seeing any of these items hitting your very own store shelves!

sound off!

Say, what was the very last method product you've received/purchased? (Old, new, tried and true!) Let us know! Just cause it's a fun Friday question!

keep on truckin'

Julie Kim over on method's people against dirty blog has a great post on their AWESOME biodiesel truck:

"Something big and special has been rolling down the highways since April. We recently rolled out with a new transport truck. It’s running on biodiesel fuel and is one of the ways we are decreasing the carbon footprint of method shipments within the US. The addition of our new biodiesel truck will save an estimated 62,000 gallons of diesel fuel and 686 tons of carbon dioxide annually. That's like planting 3,400 trees a year!

What's cool about our biodiesel rig?

Enhanced Aerodynamics
+ Marker lights that are flush with bright durable LED lights
+ Mirrors on door/hood curved for wind cutting stability

Low Rolling Resistance Tires
+ Reduced rolling resistance with single-wide and aluminum tires
+ Reduced weight

Automatic Tire Inflation System
+ Pressure sensors and automatic inflation system allows for increased fuel efficiency

Seen it on the road already? Let us know. Or even send in your method truck snapshots – we’d love to see them too!
