method quickies

UPDATED

Thought I'd answer a couple various comments section questions/concerns real quick here! I think I'll start doing that from time to time, in case some of you might not always read the comments section, etc. So, here we go!

+ The method pro chef line has just been announced, and it's already got some people up in arms over the pricing of the products. I stepped into one of my local Bed, Bath & Beyonds tonight, and indeed found both the granite and the stainless steel cleaner. Apparently they had yet to get in any shipments of the multi-surface spray cleaner.

The multi-surface cleaner comes in citrus cilantro; while the stainless steel and the granite appear to (as I gave them both a sniff test!) come in their orchard blossom scent (the same scent the small bottles sold at Target come in.)

Apparently these are specialty exclusives made for method lusters who are also foodies supposedly professional versions of method's three cleaning sprays; At first glance it appears they have a higher price point! Each bottle (28 oz.) comes at a cost of $8.99!

But then I started doing some breakdowns. Math isn't my strong suit, but I figured this one out. (Clap for me, clap for me!) The target bottles of stainless steel and granite cleaner both come in 12 oz. at $3.99. So two bottles at 24 oz. would be $8.00. Break down the 12 oz. price per ounce, and you get 3 oz. for $1.00. 12 oz + 12 oz. + 3 oz. = 27 oz. at a cost of $9.00 Target price. So you're actually getting a deal with the Bed, Bath and Beyond bottles; receiving an extra ounce for free! Cool!

Now the down side is, (according to reader Josh (getting mixed reports at the moment. Ha ha! Wow, this sounds like live coverage!) the multi-surface cleaner is $5.99; which would match the pricing of the Whole Foods exclusive ginger yuzu cleaning spray (but is still $3.00 more than any of the method cleaning sprays available at Target.) Apparently BB&B decided to just hit that price point line wide; giving the multi-surface spray cleaner the $8.99 price point, as well (according to method luster Jamison.)

+ Reader Karin mentioned having no idea what method was thinking when they went and recolored their lil' bowl blu bottle, turning it into a somewhat garish blue! And I sorta have to agree! They've kept the original color with their le scrub; perhaps they're testing both versions to see which sells better. But I have to say, I really liked the nice, spa like, clean blue they originally had. So YES, to answer your question Karin, you CAN pour the contents of the new bottles, into the old ones. I did a test just today! The squeeze top twists off (don't be afraid if it feels like it won't give) and then there's this little piece inside you just pop out, pour the contents of the new (not pretty) blue bottle into the old blue bottle; pop the piece back in, twist the cap back on (the cap is exactly like the dish soap, if you've ever taken that off. It also has the little piece in the center) and tada, you're ready to go! So, yes, perhaps we're a BIT insane to do this just so we can keep a bottle color/design we like. But I say, be insane! Design (and color taste) matter!

All for now!

now you can be the pro chef!

Ugh, I've had one heck of a weekend (you don't even WANT to know!), which ended with me being sick and feeling rather crappy; which has lead me to taking today off in an attempt to kick this thing! But never let it be said I won't sacrifice my health and happiness for method lusters! Ok, so perhaps that's a SLIGHT exaggeration? Who knows, I'm too stuffed up to think it through clearly...

I just had to take a moment to crawl out of bed and let you know about method's new pro chef line! The new line features, well, let's just let method do the talking (and me do the sneezing):

"whether you’re a serious cook or you think cooking involves a phone and a take-out menu our newest pro chef line will be sure to please you. kitchens tend to be the central gathering place in the home and pro chef is just the right line to get your kitchen ready to greet guests or make a sandwich.

the pro chef line is now available exclusively at Bed Bath and Beyond stores.

the line includes a stainless steel cleaner that is a whopping 28 oz. of superpowered formula to avoid leaving any streaks behind. so not only can you purchase less often you can also finally wipe those nasty fingerprints off the fridge.

also included is a 28 oz. spray bottle of granite cleaner, specially designed for granite, marble and other natural stone countertops and surfaces. natural stone is classic and durable, but it needs special care to be sure you don’t strip the sealer and allow water to get in the stone.

lastly, we have a special multi-surface cleaner to get rid of grease and food splatters while leaving behind a yummy citrus cilantro scent. it smells so good people will think you’ve been chopping fresh herbs and lemon wedges with a touch of lime."

Cool! I'm curious if the method line of products will continue to expand in Bed, Bath and Beyond stores. Some people find method products there already; but mine are (currently) method free. So perhaps this new line will help get them jump started in all their stores!

You can head on over to method's people against dirty blog, and have a chance at winning this new line! Contest ends October 2nd, so hurry!

+

And uhm, can I just be the (only one, probably) to say UGH! to citrus cilantro. I know there are plenty of fans out there that lust this scent; but method is loving reusing old scents this year, and between citrus cilantro and citron leaf (two scents I feel are very, very similar; and neither one do I really lust) I'm hoping next year shows them bringing us some new scents to sniff! Cause I for one am citrus cilantro/citron leaf/citrus leaf'ed out! (But I still lust you, method!)

into the sunset

Well howdy, partners! You ready to rustle up some method? Cause these fillies will be ridin' into the sunset soon! So you better saddle up and ride on over to your local Target, folks! Buh'for all the goodies are gone!

Looks like the citrus cilantro and pomegranate tea aircare line has officially hit full clearance at Target. All items in those two scents have been red stickered! Since these were special edition scents from method, I'd pick up what I want because they may or may not come back from method scent Heaven! And while you're making the trip, the bamboo special edition aroma rings are also on clearance. (These only came in sweet water scent; but of course could be refilled with any scent you lust!) I'm sorta surprised method didn't keep these around, I think they're much more stylish than the white plastic ones they have. Time will tell, maybe they'll bring them back! But until then, grab a couple for around the house!

And the barn! That place dag'gum stinks, what with all the cows, pigs, goats and horses! Now, giddy-up and go!

aha!

I finally managed to put two and two together, and figure out the whole "why are the pomegranate + tea and citrus cilantro candles being clearanced, while the rest of the items in these scents (currently) remain in the aircare line?" question? (And whew, that was a long question, wasn't it?!) Well, I (duh!) figured it out!

The reason is, method just went and reworked their candle line, with the new soy wax formula; but realized these two scents were going to be discontinued, to be replaced with the upcoming spring editions line; so they couldn't redo them with the new soy wax, and instead just clearanced them out; while keeping the rest of the line around in those two scents (for a short time.) Make sense?

I went into my nearest Target this weekend, and they've had three pom + tea candles sitting there forever, on clearance, but without any actually clearance stickers on them. And this weekend they were listed as "item not found" which in Target terms means, over and out. So I checked at the customer service counter (just in case they'd gone lower than $3.98) to see if they could look up a price on them. They said with "item not found" products, it was hit or miss. But these did come up (still at the $3.98 price, so I just bought one.) But this is the last chance to pick the candles up, as Target will be shipping them out soon (more than likely to Goodwill.)

clean sweeps

+ A couple bits of interest! First up, the pomegranate + tea and citrus cilantro candles seem to have hit $3.98 at most Targets! The catch? There is currently only one Target store near me that's actually caught onto this, and priced them accordingly! Every other store has them out with the updated wax formula candles, at apparently normal price. BUT run them under the price check machine...

interlude - (don't you just LUST those at Target! And you can actually find them easily, unlike at Walmart, where I'm huntin' and peckin' for a price machine for fifteen minutes?!? What the heck. I actually had someone working at Walmart tell me to go to a different price machine in the electronics section "because the ones on the floor don't always show you the right prices." As in, the ones put out there for the customers, right? Ok, makes sense to me! (Well, Walmart sense!) Whew, but do I digress...) - over!

So do a quick check on the pomegranate + tea/citrus cilantro candles, and snatch some up! (So far it's only the candles in these two fragrances that are being discontinued.)

+ method lust reader Jamison has passed along a great idea I hadn't even thought of! If you happen to notice your local Target is out of method candles (or at least your favorite scent! Some stores are running low!) Head on over to customer service, and get a rain check! That way, when the price goes back up, you'll still have some rain checks to use for $4.99! (Especially when the candles get restocked!) I'm not sure of the specifics, including how long rain checks are valid, but I thought I'd share the news! Thanks Jamison!

+ I've almost finished off my first new wax formula method candle, and will have a review up very soon! As well as a roundup of our latest method lust polls!

it's citrus, miss cilantro is you're nasty

Look what I found at my local Big Lots last night! They've gotten some citrus cilantro aroma rings in! Looks like the method products continue to trickle into the stores! I'm going to do some more Big Lots loitering this weekend, and see what I can see!

I also noticed on one of method's lastest twitter methodtweets they mentioned to an advocate lusting for some more beach sage bloq lotion (and not being able to find it at Target. Hello, how long has bloq been discontinued? Do these people not roam up and down the method aisles each and every time they go to their local Target!? Do they not sniff, and re-sniff all the scents anytime they see a method bottle, even though by now they know what they smell like in their sleep?! Are they not obsessed to a degree that's simply not right?! I mean, that sounds crazily sane! What's up with these people? And how can I get some of what they're drinking, cause really, I need help... no, really. Help me, please. I had another method dream last night. Don't even get me started. The big method boss (I don't remember who it was, it was a "dream boss") was firing me from method, even though I didn't work for method (not even in the dream! Ha ha!) even after I helped them all look for some method products in this crazy warehouse, but they had to cut corners; but then I said something profound to him, and he realized there was no way he could lose my utter genius, so he unfired me from being fired from a position I was never hired to! Yay! Ah dreams... I remember my family came up to me in my dream, on the side of the street (cause that's where you always meet your family, just roaming the streets.) And they were trying to talk to me and I was all like "Psh, psh! I'm on the phone with method! Can't talk now!" oh, where was I? Oh yes.)

...to possibly check their local Big Lots. Now, I'm not sure about you, but I have yet to see any bloq products pop up at Big Lots; so either it's was simply a suggestion not necessarily based on current fact (did you like that sentence? I did, it sounds very lawyer-y, doesn't it! Ok, ok, anyway...) OR perhaps they know something we don't, and bloq products could be hitting our Big Lots shelves very soon! Time will tell!

things that make you go hmm...

UPDATE Haven't heard of anything official from method yet, but let's just keep speculating! reader Brit left a comment recently that got my mind to wondering:

"I was at a local Target last night... The sale candles that were there all said 'New wax formula, better burning' or something like that on the label."

SO, of course I went to two Targets to check this out, and what do you know, the current candle line does not say this anywhere on their packaging! SO, I'm beginning to think they're changing the wax formula, and these new candles will be hitting Targets very soon! Why soon? Because, this $4.99 candle sale goes until March 30th! Crazy! Why is it crazy, because right now, they barely have any candles. I've been to two stores, and there are like, four candles at each store.

SO, I'm thinking they're going to be getting a new shipment in soon, of the new wax formula! Otherwise, this sale blows, cause they have no stock (which is the grocery store sale mentality! Boo! (Buy one, get two free! And they never have anything in stock until the sale ends.) Time will tell, and again, I'll let you know as soon as I find out anything more. And Brit, if you can take a pic of this new packaging, if you bought one, send it my way! Thanks!

+

Come on, you can admit it! Who gets that title reference? Huh, huh? We are children of the 80's! Ok! Flaunt it, baby!

But the title is rather literal tonight, as well! Because I started going "Hmm!" after I stopped screaming at my local Target this evening! Why, you ask? (Go on, ask. I'll wait... I'm waiting. Thank you!) Well, I rounded the corner to the Holy scent Grail, otherwise known as the wall o' method aroma care! And right there, in big huge letters on a sales card was "method candles $4.99!" WHA?! WHO?! HOW?! Have you EVER! No you haven't, trust me! $4.99 for all method candles! On sale, not a clearance! So run, run, run to your nearest Target already! In fact, mine was all cleaned out, except for lavender + lemongrass (snatched one!) and the discontinued pomegranate + tea, which, and how ironic is this; was $5.88. Ha ha! Cause it's clearanced, it wasn't on "sale." Odd!

BUT, this got me to thinking... and going Hmm... I've noticed, the pomegranate + tea and citrus cilantro candles were clearanced at some of the Target stores a while back (some have YET to hit the clearance.) BUT the remainder of those scent lines, still full price. And the candles in many of my Targets are not being replenished. Now, my first thought was "the new spring line is coming soon (I'm betting this month!) including Beach Sage... so perhaps they're just waiting for a big shipment." But now Target is putting ALL method's candles on a $4.99 (unheard of!) sale?

Here's MY guess (and it's just a guess, if I get more info. of COURSE you'll be the first to hear it!) My guess is, method is finally (hallelujah. Sorry Ryan!) redesigning the candles (since as you can see from our current poll on the right sidebar, is way winning in the "burn horrible" category) and Target is trying to move them all before the new design comes in! AGAIN, take that with a grain of salt, I'm seriously guessing here! But time shall tell!

Meanwhile, why are you still reading this? $4.99 candles at Target! Go! Get going! Get out of here! Move! And can you get me a slushy at the cafe, they're really tasty! Ok, well, I had to try. Anyway, go, get, candles!

snuffed out

Let's all take a moment here to wipe our (soon to be) weepy eyes. Looks like pomegranate tea and citrus cilantro are on their way out. While rummaging around Target today (and really, I was rummaging! Half way through my trip I was like "WHAT am I even here for?!" I really couldn't figure out my answer, so I just continued rummaging...) I found the method aircare section, cause you know, I just happen to FIND it every time I head into Target. And I noticed big red "clearance" tags on the pomegranate tea and citrus cilantro candles. While the remainder of the aircare line in those two scents was still at full price, I have a feeling it's only a matter of time before they head to method heaven, too!

We know beach sage is making it's spring limited edition return this year; so I'm betting another scent is coming along to join in on the fun! Hopefully it'll be something brand spanking new! (Cross your fingers!) As soon as I find out more, I'll OF course, let you all know! And until then, you better start stocking up on these two great scents! I'm hoping they come back in some form or another down the line (especially pomegranate tea, which is amazing! It was a fall edition scent, so perhaps it'll return again this fall? And yes, I know we have many citrus cilantro lusters, as well! Not really being one myself, but I'm holding up the lit lighter of method citrus cilantro lovers high in the sky to recognize you all out there! Yeah, that made no sense, no one ever said I could actually write, ok?)

aircare extreme makeover!

Come on... the return of aroma enhancer sprays, new smarty dish cubes, marine naturals body wash and scrub, pomegranate tea and gingerbread + spice fall edition aircare scents, new squeaky green laundry detergent and dryer cloths... and more! Oh my word!

That's not enough, is it? Nah, not really. I mean, come on, it's method's eighth year birthday month! We're not playin' around here! Let's celebrate! How about a brand new aircare line makeover! SHO'nough!

Get ready, I just got some mind blowing news tonight about some amazing new aircare items and redesigns we'll be seeing very shortly in stores! Many lusters have already noticed the clearancing of the method aircare candles, and oddly, the lavender + lemongrass pill set, and more! What's going on here?! Well, never fear, it's great news! Are you ready? Are you sitting down. This news is so big, I had to release it over the weekend (and I never do that!) I'm so excited!

Alright...

+ First, method's candles are heading back to glass containers (I'm not sure if they'll retain their iconic Karim design/shape, we'll have to wait and see! I'd be surprised if method changed this, BUT I also know they like to constantly shake things up, so who knows!) They've decided to go back to glass (the candles originally came in glass, before redesigning the line, and using ceramic) since glass is actually recyclable, and ceramic unforunately is not (but they make great dessert cups!) So look for all your favorite candle scents back soon, in glass containers!

+ Method is doing a new test concept for their aroma rings! Specifically in the sweet water scent (are you ready for this??) the ring will be made out of bamboo! OH my word! I hear it simply rocks! And looks SWEET! Bamboo aroma rings! Not plastic! I can't wait! One more exclamation point! There you go.

+ And a biggie (a lot of people have been wanting this) they are re-releasing the lavender + lemongrass pill set (no, lavender + lemongrass is not being discontinued! Hallelujah! It's my favorite!) in a nightlite concept! HOW COOL is that! I can't wait! Oh, wait, I already said that!...

+ The aroma pills will now have single and twin refill packs. So you won't have to purchase two at one time, if you don't wish to! They used to be available in single; then went to only twin; and now they'll be available in both!

+ Look for aroma sticks (in their new streamlined vases!) to come in sweet water, lemongrass + lavender, and now vanilla apple.

+ The four main scents are: sweet water, lemongrass + lavender, vanilla apple, and citrus cilantro.

+ The fall scents will come as follows:
Pomegranate Tea - single pill refill, air enhancer spray, candle, aroma ring refill
Gingerbread Spice - pill refill twin, air enhancer spray, candle

The candles, bamboo rings, and aroma air enhancer sprays are heading to stores as I type this! The rest will play catch up! How excited are you? I can't... no, I won't say it again. (psst, I can't wait!)

NO, I don't have pics at the moment, but as soon as I can get my grubby little hands on some, I'll post them pronto! You know I will. I take care of my own kind! Let method lust know if you start seeing any of these items hitting your very own store shelves!

spray away!

UPDATE I've gotten some word on the rings attached to the tops of the new aroma spray bottles. They are indeed put there for two reasons: one is to remove the need for a cap (and having to remove/put it back on); and the second is so the bottles can't accidentally be sprayed, since they (duh) now have no cap. I agree with method luster Steve, it seems an odd choice of design for method, but we'll see how it goes!

Well look here! method luster Steve has sent us a pic from his Super Target, and they just got the new method aroma sprays in! So they're already hitting the stores! YES!

About the ring? Steve says:

"um, it's a ring. no purpose whatsoever. method ignores it on the back of the label. I like the lidless idea, but method's solution seems a bit odd."

I'd agree. I was somehow hoping they'd redesign the trigger spray, make it a seamless part of the bottle (Febreze bottle style, and such) but huh? I'll have to check it out in person and see. Hopefully soon! I guess you can just use the ring to carry around the bottle?

new aroma refills

Looks like the Beach Sage and Citrus Cilantro aroma pill refills have made their debut (thanks for the heads-up, Robert! And I just saw them in Target this evening for myself, as well!) I'm surprised, as the special edition line has been out for a short time now, featured in candles and aroma ring refills. The other surprise is the special edition refills come in the single refill packages (compared to the regular aircare line, which recently switched from the single pill refills to double pack refills. Have a confused anyone? Oh yes, myself...) So run out and pick some up this weekend! Your aroma pill will be so happy, dressed for spring!
