clean sweeps

+ An advocate over on method's Facebook page recently asked if we (method's drooling fans!) should expect some new fall scents? And method's response was a big yes! So yay! Interestingly enough, the post has since been removed from their page, but this could be because A) method decided they wanted to keep it hush hush (in which case, oops! Ha!) or B) method changed their minds (I doubt this one) or C) Facebook is acting up again (this seems to happen a lot!) So who knows, but I'd say keep a lookout for some new scents coming from method this fall (more than likely they'll hit the hand wash and dish soap products.)

I'd been noticing Glade, Febreze, etc. have been releasing their new fall candles and aroma plug-ins. Makes me long for the days method released their own line of fall oriented scents for their aircare line (fig, gingerbread spice and pomegranate tea!) Ah, but, there I go longing for the good ole' days again!

+ Have you tried out any of method's new products? How about the lavender or clementine floor cleaner? pink grapefruit or red currant dish soap? Wood for good daily wood cleaning spray? If so, what are your thoughts? Lust'em? Let method lust know in the comments!

holiday lust

All this Halloween and holiday mashup is startin' to confuse me!? What time of year is it, again? Ah well! I had previously had a poll asking which holiday scents you were looking forward to most! The results were:

+ 28% Spiced Pear
+ 21% Toasted Hazelnut
+ 20% Winter Berry
+ 16% Frosted Fir

Now that the new holiday line is starting to hit shelves, I've put up a new poll asking what 2008 holiday scents did you purchase? Let's see how the wishing matches up to the final product (and our final thoughts on the scents, since we can actually smell them now!)

And I agree with all the lusters out there that say Target's end cap is embarrassing. It's all out in the open for everyone to see, and they get to watch us all sniff our way through every product! Ha ha! I'm right there with you! And isn't it funny how we'll sniff the candle, then go and sniff the hand wash in the same scent. Well, I know I do it... and I'm not that weird. Well, ok, never mind. I am... so when you get the chance to pick up your holiday scents, do the poll (located on the right sidebar!) Thanks!

gingerbread go!

Yay! Colleen Reilly, brand communications over at some company called method (I bet you're heard of it!) just gave us all some great news!

"...I wanted to let you know that gingerbread spice is making a comeback at Target. Aroma spray, aroma pill refills, and the new glass soy candles are all on shelves now (caveat that they might not be at EVERY Target)."

+

How great is that! Let us know if you happen to see them on your local Target shelves!

fall-ing for method

Have you seen the new aircare reed diffusers yet? They should have hit your local Target by now. They've added vanilla apple to the line, and everytime I see the packaging, it reminds me of Fall. Glorious Fall. The color is just spot on. Mmm. Lust it!

What do you think of the new egg shaped sans neck vases? I think they're great! Even MORE minimal, if that was possible. I have yet to pick one up, but I know there's a lavender + lemongrass with my name on it.

Speaking of Fall...

I haven't forgotten. Look at all those glorious aircare gingerbread spice products! Yum! And apparently sad Target has decided not to carry the line this year. (Right now you can purchase all except for the aroma spray on method home.) I'm working to dig up a little more information concerning where else these special edition products may become available (either online, or in other stores?)

+

Mini-rant. I LOVE method to freakin' death, but really, they gotta work something out with their online store. $10 for a candle! We already think they're pricey in the store, but you have to pay an extra dollar (for most things) to order it "directly" from method, and that excludes shipping. It really prevents me from making purchases from their site. You would think it'd be cheaper, simply because you're suppposedly taking out the middle man. Right? I think they need to step up to the plate, and really figure out how to solve some of their online pricing "issues." (Wow, that sounded down right bossy, now didn't it! Whew! Ha!) I hear lots of grumbling from all over the internet-osphere about how their online prices and shipping charges are so steep. I bet if they changed this up, they'd see a huge increase in their shopping traffic. Hmm...

the good chef speaks

We've been having quite a bit of discussion concerning the new method aircare candles as of late, and I had the privilege of receiving an email from method's good chef, Ryan Williams, to try and explain their original thinking a little bit more:

"I was reading some of the feedback that folks had provided on the candles...

... the fact is that the new glass candle form was a fun challenge for our green chefs. They were working with multiple new parts, including our new veggie only renewable wax, new fragrances, and the new cool shape from our industrial design group. Our development philosophy was to first ensure that the flame didn't get too tall and the glass wouldn't become too hot to touch. With these safety considerations in mind we then tried to reach 100% wax consumption and are admittedly falling a little short.

It was cool to see how creative everyone is about using every little last drop of wax! I especially love the remelting in the Aroma Bead ceramic. And our idea was that the glass bowl makes a pretty cool place to store spare change on your dresser."

+

Ya know, seriously I don't think we (well, at least me! I'll just speak for myself here) even realize what steps go into something as "simple" as a candle, or any method product for that matter! I still hope that down the line they will revisit this new candle design, and work to improve the issues they're now aware of. I think a lot of times that's why we see continual stages with method products. They're always striving to improve upon themselves, and their previous versions. While this definitely causes some issues where stability comes into play with their product lines, I also feel it provides for better products! Will this be the last iteration of method candles we see, definitely not (I mean, we're sorta on version four now!)

So while none of us like to be, at times perhaps, a companies own "personal quality control" in a sense, I think that's also what makes method lust so great! method does read what we say here, and takes in how we feel about a certain product/fragrance/idea. And how many Big Brand companies can you say that about? So while the candle situation isn't perfect at this moment (and personally I think a price reduction at least down to the original Karim ceramic candle pricing would help out a lot, as I think many of us feel like perhaps we got a less "completely usable" product, with a higher sticker price.) I can also bet you that the next new candle iteration will have fixed these issues we are currently having!

Until then we can keep coming up with more fun, creative ways to use up the remaining wax, like that ceramic burner idea! Do you have any ideas? (And I definitely think with the new candle I get, I'm going to try Robert's idea, and buy a few of the metal inserts that hold the wicks in place when I re-melt and pour the remaining candle wax. I think that's why my last attempt failed! I'll let you know how it goes!)

Whew, such a serious post! Don't mess with method lusters when it comes to their prized aircare candles, right? Right!

+

Another note, it appears (from information luster Robert has let us know) that the new fall edition gingerbread + spice candles will NOT be carried in Target stores. I'll see what more information I can get concerning this. Poo! I was so looking forward to those. I guess we'll have to be happy with the pomegranate tea fall edition candle for the time being. Which rocks! So that won't be too hard.

I bet this is what happened to method's spring/summer line of fresh lychee and cut grass aircare products. It appeared online, but never showed up on Target's shelves; only to appear in Big Lots stores months later on clearance. I bet Target decided to not carry those as well. Target just gets on my nerves sometimes! Grr! Seriously, we should consider doing an email deluge concerning our desire that they carry all method products! (Including a lot of people saying that the marine naturals line has STILL not made it to their stores. I'm not sure what that one is about?) What do you think? Email deluge?

aircare extreme makeover!

Come on... the return of aroma enhancer sprays, new smarty dish cubes, marine naturals body wash and scrub, pomegranate tea and gingerbread + spice fall edition aircare scents, new squeaky green laundry detergent and dryer cloths... and more! Oh my word!

That's not enough, is it? Nah, not really. I mean, come on, it's method's eighth year birthday month! We're not playin' around here! Let's celebrate! How about a brand new aircare line makeover! SHO'nough!

Get ready, I just got some mind blowing news tonight about some amazing new aircare items and redesigns we'll be seeing very shortly in stores! Many lusters have already noticed the clearancing of the method aircare candles, and oddly, the lavender + lemongrass pill set, and more! What's going on here?! Well, never fear, it's great news! Are you ready? Are you sitting down. This news is so big, I had to release it over the weekend (and I never do that!) I'm so excited!

Alright...

+ First, method's candles are heading back to glass containers (I'm not sure if they'll retain their iconic Karim design/shape, we'll have to wait and see! I'd be surprised if method changed this, BUT I also know they like to constantly shake things up, so who knows!) They've decided to go back to glass (the candles originally came in glass, before redesigning the line, and using ceramic) since glass is actually recyclable, and ceramic unforunately is not (but they make great dessert cups!) So look for all your favorite candle scents back soon, in glass containers!

+ Method is doing a new test concept for their aroma rings! Specifically in the sweet water scent (are you ready for this??) the ring will be made out of bamboo! OH my word! I hear it simply rocks! And looks SWEET! Bamboo aroma rings! Not plastic! I can't wait! One more exclamation point! There you go.

+ And a biggie (a lot of people have been wanting this) they are re-releasing the lavender + lemongrass pill set (no, lavender + lemongrass is not being discontinued! Hallelujah! It's my favorite!) in a nightlite concept! HOW COOL is that! I can't wait! Oh, wait, I already said that!...

+ The aroma pills will now have single and twin refill packs. So you won't have to purchase two at one time, if you don't wish to! They used to be available in single; then went to only twin; and now they'll be available in both!

+ Look for aroma sticks (in their new streamlined vases!) to come in sweet water, lemongrass + lavender, and now vanilla apple.

+ The four main scents are: sweet water, lemongrass + lavender, vanilla apple, and citrus cilantro.

+ The fall scents will come as follows:
Pomegranate Tea - single pill refill, air enhancer spray, candle, aroma ring refill
Gingerbread Spice - pill refill twin, air enhancer spray, candle

The candles, bamboo rings, and aroma air enhancer sprays are heading to stores as I type this! The rest will play catch up! How excited are you? I can't... no, I won't say it again. (psst, I can't wait!)

NO, I don't have pics at the moment, but as soon as I can get my grubby little hands on some, I'll post them pronto! You know I will. I take care of my own kind! Let method lust know if you start seeing any of these items hitting your very own store shelves!

spray away!

UPDATE I've gotten some word on the rings attached to the tops of the new aroma spray bottles. They are indeed put there for two reasons: one is to remove the need for a cap (and having to remove/put it back on); and the second is so the bottles can't accidentally be sprayed, since they (duh) now have no cap. I agree with method luster Steve, it seems an odd choice of design for method, but we'll see how it goes!

Well look here! method luster Steve has sent us a pic from his Super Target, and they just got the new method aroma sprays in! So they're already hitting the stores! YES!

About the ring? Steve says:

"um, it's a ring. no purpose whatsoever. method ignores it on the back of the label. I like the lidless idea, but method's solution seems a bit odd."

I'd agree. I was somehow hoping they'd redesign the trigger spray, make it a seamless part of the bottle (Febreze bottle style, and such) but huh? I'll have to check it out in person and see. Hopefully soon! I guess you can just use the ring to carry around the bottle?

tea + cookies

method luster Robert got us going this week with his big reveal of the new Holiday scents method has coming out later this year. So hey, why live for today (ain't nothing happening today anyway! Actually, nothing exciting happens for me most any day, but let's not go there, alright?) I just got some great news as to what the new special edition fall aircare scents will be! This year we have:

+ Gingerbread + Spice
+ Pomegranate Tea

Gingerbread + Spice is a returning favorite, while Pomegranate Tea is a new scent for method! They've had Pomegranate hand wash before, but I'm sure this one will smell different, with the tea undertone. Can't wait! (Oh, I know, it's still summer, right? But only for one more month! Ha ha! (Or something like that...)

alas fig, we hardly knew thee

Be sure to stop by your nearest Target to pick up the remaining Fall Editions of method's aroma care line. Fall 2007 saw the premiere of Fig (of which I've fallen head over heels in love with. The scent is this amazing combination of earthy, grassy, and fruit all at once. Divine!), along with a return visit for the second year by Gingerbread + Spice.

The scents have been discontinued to make room for the Spring/Summer line (which I believe will consist once more of Cut Grass and Fresh Lychee.) Gingerbread + Spice will be coming back next Fall, but I've heard through the grapevine that Fig is heading to method scent Heaven. Let's pause for a moment of silence. Man, did I love that scent! (Trust me I've bought out the Fig candle aisle!)

Right now you can find candles, plug-ins, aroma rings and sprays on clearance at Target. What are you waiting for?
