four months...

Wow! It's so sunny outside! Time for Popsicles, the beach, suntan lotion (and inevitably sunburn!), long lingering summer evenings, nothing but reality shows on tv (oh no, wait. That used to mean summer. Now that's television 24/7, my bad), and holiday method! Yay!

No wait, what? Well, come on! The method holiday line is but a mere four months away! (Wow, really, seriously? Well, if the past is any lesson, and it usually is; unless you're history, but I digress...) AND it is Christmas in July time, you know! So what better moment than now to discuss method holiday! Ho ho ho! Ok? Alright!

Actually, I was curious about something. I'm doing an impromptu poll (and shh, I bet you can figure out my answer from the above photo, but anyway...) let the method lusters vote!

Way back when, in the beginning of method time, aroma sprays and pill refills were a big part of the holiday line. As the years progressed, what I like to call limited edition "one-shots" sorta took their place. - Holiday scented lotions, aroma beads, candle trios, potpourri ornaments, etc.

So my question to you is, which would you prefer to see this holiday (or fudge!, maybe next holiday? As I bet it's too late to sway method at this point. Ha ha! I'm sure the holiday line is rather locked down now!)

Holiday scented aroma sprays and pill refills? Or holiday limited edition "one-shots" such as aroma beads, candle trios, ornaments, etc? (Each along with our usual holiday faves - dish soap, candles, all-surface spray, and hand wash!) Comment away!

clean sweeps

+ method's new citrus leaf dilutable cleaner is starting to pop up at Target stores! It will be stocked with the floorcare (well, at least at my Target!) With an insanely great price of only $2.99!

+ There are some new polls up! Word, that took forever! This time around it's all scents, scents, scents! (And your favorite method line!) Go at it, vote! It's your democratic duty! (That and, I just don't want to end up with empty polls!)

our third (late!) poll finale!

It's (finally!) here! If you've noticed lately, method lust's third set of polls have recently closed! And I've (finally!) gotten around to compiling them for you, my dear readers (finally!) Uh, yeah, so I'm a little behind on this one, I realize. But hey, here they are (finally!) Ok, ok. I know, finally, alright? Geesh! Move on already! Don't you have holiday shopping to do or something? Ok, so take a look at the big results (finally!) Gah!

+

What 2008 holiday scents have you purchased?
FROSTED FIR - 39%
GINGERBREAD + SPICE - 9%
SPICED PEAR - 48%
TOASTED HAZELNUT - 27%
WINTER BERRY - 24%

Yeah, uhm, whoa! spiced pear and frosted fir blew everything else out of the water! (Secret applause from me! As these are my favorite two holiday 2008 scents! And I swear I didn't sway these results! Ha ha!) I'm always curious to know what scents will be making their holiday returns, and what ones won't. The only two holiday scents (to my knowledge) that have never made a comeback are snowy days, and mistletoe. So there's a pretty good chance that if you don't see your favorite scent during a specific year, it'll be back sooner or later. You think peppermint vanilla and hollyberry are gone for good? I'd definitely bet not! I'm just really happy spiced pear has done so well! I'm stocking up on that scent this year, just in case I have to wait a few years in-between, like last time!

I'm also noticing the method holiday scents are starting to dwindle, without restock. So if you have a favorite scent, I'd be buying some up, before they're all gone. (Though I know we're all secretly waiting for the after holidays sale! But there really isn't a Target near me when I head home for the holidays (we so live in the boonies!) So I have to think ahead!)

+

Which method product could you not live without?
ALL-SURFACE SPRAY - 38%
AROMA PILL PLUG-IN - 21%
AROMA SPRAY - 14%
BABY + KIDS LINE - 7%
BODY WASH - 9%
DISH SOAP - 19%
HAND WASH - 34%
LAUNDRY DETERGENT - 16%
SOY CANDLES - 17%
OTHER - 12%

Yeah, so don't touch people's method surface spray, or you'll be in trouble, mister! It gets the most lust! With hand wash coming in a very close second. Both products are part of method's founding line, so it doesn't come as too much surprise they get the bulk of the votes. The other item's votes seem to be matching how long the product has been on store shelves. Looks like there are some method items out there people still haven't tried out! (Go on, you know you want to try the squeaky green kids line! No, you don't have to be a kid, just one at heart!)

+

Are you part of the Plastic Bag + Paper Towel Challenge?
I'M WINNING! - 12%
NO PLASTIC BAGS - 56%
NO PAPER TOWELS - 9%
I'VE GOTTA HAVE PLASTIC BAGS - 4%
I GOTTA HAVE PAPER TOWELS - 27%
THIS IS HARD TO DO - 8%
EH, I'M JUST LAZY - 10%

Yay to no plastic bags (56%!) Boo to all you "I gotta have paper towels" people - 27%! Come on, you can do it. How many more speeches do I have to give. I know, I know. None, since you don't even read them anymore (proof of the fact, since I asked a question at the end of my last paper towel/plastic bag rant, and no one responded. Uhm-hmm, I know you didn't read it. For shame!) But hey, at least 10% are more than willing to straight up admit you're just plain lazy. I guess that's what makes anonymous polls so great! Ha ha! If you haven't started yet, go for it! 2009, and a greener you, awaits!

+

Which is your favorite scent type?
CITRUS - 20%
FLORAL - 10%
FRAGRANCE FREE - 5%
FRUITY - 10%
GOURMET - 14%
GREEN + EARTHY - 30%
HERBACEOUS - 18%
HOLIDAY - 29%
MINT - 26%
WATERY - 15%

Green + earthy makes the win! Holiday comes in an extremely close second! And uh, yeah, hello, I'd like to make a collect call to method? Yes, method? I'd like to let you know mint hit 26% with the third highest score in favorite scent type! Mint, people! Seriously, I'm shocked at that one! So yeah, method, more mint! What do we have? Eucalyptus + mint doesn't even count (doesn't smell like mint.) So we have refresh mint, and mint glass cleaner. Time for mo' mint, method! Yes, I'm so excited! Like my little poll where 26% of method lusters loving mint will result in more method mint products! But, I'm gonna dream anyway! Cause that's what I'm all about, dreaming big! Happy thoughts! Spreading lust and cheers! Wait, none of that is me... who is that? Word. More mint!

+

Aircare! Which is your lust?
AROMA RING (PLASTIC) - 4%
AROMA RING (BAMBOO) - 14%
AROMA SPRAY (W/CAP) - 7%
AROMA SPRAY (W/RING) - 20%
SOY CANDLE (CERAMIC JAR) - 20%
SOY CANDLE (GLASS JAR) - 31%
AROMA PILL (PLAIN) - 29%
AROMA PILL (NIGHTLIGHT) - 31%

Bamboo aroma ring would like to say something. "Ahem... (clearing throat)... you like me, you really like me! Thank you so much, I'd like to thank my agent, and my mom, and..." Anyone think the bamboo ring might replace the plastic one down the line? I mean, this poll preferred it big time! Many of the items, again, seemed to be chosen on newness of product. But most are close, while the aroma ring ran well, rings around it's former self! (The aroma spray did as well, but the original version was missing for an entire year (almost) so I chalk that up to many simply not being able to give the original capped version a try. What do you think?)

+

And that's that! Our third poll finale! Thanks to everyone for taking the time and voting! You're the best! I'm gonna take a short holiday break before rolling out brand new poll questions for the new year! So check back real soon!

holiday lust

All this Halloween and holiday mashup is startin' to confuse me!? What time of year is it, again? Ah well! I had previously had a poll asking which holiday scents you were looking forward to most! The results were:

+ 28% Spiced Pear
+ 21% Toasted Hazelnut
+ 20% Winter Berry
+ 16% Frosted Fir

Now that the new holiday line is starting to hit shelves, I've put up a new poll asking what 2008 holiday scents did you purchase? Let's see how the wishing matches up to the final product (and our final thoughts on the scents, since we can actually smell them now!)

And I agree with all the lusters out there that say Target's end cap is embarrassing. It's all out in the open for everyone to see, and they get to watch us all sniff our way through every product! Ha ha! I'm right there with you! And isn't it funny how we'll sniff the candle, then go and sniff the hand wash in the same scent. Well, I know I do it... and I'm not that weird. Well, ok, never mind. I am... so when you get the chance to pick up your holiday scents, do the poll (located on the right sidebar!) Thanks!

weekend notes

Ooh, look here! I (literally like ten minutes ago) left a Target near me, having discovered some new method products! Yay!

My first discovery happened to be the new smarty dish cubes! They only had them in pink grapefruit at the moment (with a spot for the Go Naked) so I grabbed up some of the grapefruit to give a try! The package is so tiny, like you can hold it in the palm of your hand small! Wow! Really cool.

Then, I turned right around in the aisle, and was staring at the aircare area! It was a mixed bag, they have yet to get the candles in/or stocked, but they did have most other items. The new vanilla apple aroma sticks, the bamboo aroma ring, the pomegranate tea plugin refill; and the new aroma sprays. ALL of them, except the one I needed, the lavender + lemongrass. How odd? They had a space for it, but nothing was there. I cried a tiny tear, took a moment of silence, and moved on to: the new aroma pill nightlight! Why am I so excited about a nightlight?!? I have no idea, but I whipped it up, and ran to the checkout! (The bamboo ring looks really nice, but being on a limited budget at the moment, the nightlight and dish cubes won out!)

It looks almost exactly like the currently pill version. They've updated their logo to the method circle inside the house (I think they might be heading in the direction of using that for everything down the line, time will tell.) And it DOES turn on when the lights go out in a room, and turn off when they come on, automatically! How cool is that! It emits this subtle blue/white light when it's on, and I think it's great! I'll get the real test tonight, when it's dark out. I put it in the bathroom, I thought that was probably the best room for it, no?

The prices appear to have gone up about a dollar for many of the new items (the bamboo ring is one dollar more than the plastic version; the pill nightlight is one dollar more than it's plain version; and of course said here earlier, the candles are two dollars more.) Here's hoping the new candles pop up soon near me! (And you, too!) OH, and the smarty dish cubes are only $4.99! (Not the $6.99 suggested price we were expecting to pay! Yay!)

+

Oh, unrelated, I uh, totally realized I have yet to post up new polls! What is my problem? Man! Well, I'll get that remedied very soon, alright! So just bare with me for a bit. (Hmm, gotta think up some new questions!)

our second poll finale!

Curious what all those poll outcomes were? Or not curious at all, but just need something to read cause it's real early on Monday morning and you're just not feelin' work much at the moment! Well, never fear, method lust is here! With our second poll finale! So, without further yada yada, here you go:

Do you currently purchase method products?
YES - 174 votes
NO - 7 votes
STARTING TODAY - 3 votes

method lust gender ratio - you are:
FEMALE - 85 votes
MALE - 31 votes

Do you like the new method labels?
LOVE'EM! - 39 votes
NOT SO MUCH - 42 votes
NEW LABELS? - 20 votes
DOESN'T MATTER- 17 votes

Wow! I'm telling you, this was a close one for a while. At first the not so muchers were winning big, then it started to really tie up for a while between the love'em and the not so muchers; but the final outcome (with only three extra votes) is the not so much crowd. (I happen to be one of them.) What's really surprising though, are the 20 votes of new labels? Ha! Where have you guys been, sleeping under a rock? (Oh, and uh, if you have, sorry, didn't mean to hurt your feelings or anything...) It'll be interesting to see if these new label designs last?

Which method hand wash scents do you use?
ALMOND FLOWER - 21 votes
CUCUMBER - 35 votes
FRENCH LAVENDER - 44 votes
GREEN TEA + ALOE - 48 votes
GO NAKED - 23 votes
OLIVE LEAF - 14 votes
PINK GRAPEFRUIT - 39 votes
SEA MINERALS - 44 votes
SWEET WATER - 64 votes
WHITE TEA - 22 votes

Well, I guess I can see why method is pushing their sweet water scent hard in their products. 64 big ole' votes! Followed by green tea + aloe, french lavender (my fav!), and sea minerals (seems also method might have a hot new scent on their hands that sticks around for a change. This scent seems to be popular here, and it's popping up in the new marine naturals body wash line, so we shall see!) Poor olive leaf, I'm surprised! I thought that was a popular scent in the body wash line, and therefore would be in the creamy hand wash line as well. Huh?

Which is your favorite method holiday scent?
CINNAMON BARK - 24 votes
FROSTED CRANBERRY - 13 votes
HOLLYBERRY - 30 votes
MISTLETOE - 0 votes
PEPPERMINT VANILLA - 63 votes
SNOWY DAYS - 6 votes
SPICED PEAR - 24 votes

Looks like two of the very early holiday scents, snowy days and mistletoe didn't hit high on the votes due to a lot of people not getting the chance to give them a try. I have some snowy days lotion and a candle, it's a nice clean scent; but I never got to try mistletoe either. (NOT) surprisingly, peppermint vanilla wins big (and you know, you'd think I'd LOVE this scent, I love vanilla, I LOVE peppermint, but it doesn't do much for me. I think it's too vanilla-y, not enough mint; but then that shouldn't surprise you either, right?) Spiced pear is the only one in the list making a return for 2008; along with new frosted fir, toasted hazelnut, and winterberry. Can't wait! (It's also the first year method is rolling out FOUR scents for the holidays! Yes!)

Would you purchase a method auto care line? (like their previous Vroom auto line)
YES - 123 votes
NO - 16 votes
NOT SURE - 23 votes

HOLY crap-oley! Seems people would love to see a method auto care line! 123 Yes votes! That there's a lot o' votes! Let's see if method hears us down the line!

What would you love to see next from method?
AUTO CARE - 40 votes
DRAIN CLEANER - 41 votes
FABRIC REFRESHER SPRAY - 79 votes
PET CARE - 51 votes
DEODORANT - 77 votes
TOOTHPASTE - 52 votes

Give you guys more choices, and it becomes harder to decide (auto care still gets good votes, but you apparently want a couple other things too!) What might those be? Fabric refresher spray (think Febreze) gets a huge 79 votes, followed by, drum roll, deodorant! WHO would have thought? And then toothpaste! Can you not see toothpaste from method, how much would that rock? I think seeing deodorant and toothpaste from method might be dreaming a bit at the moment, but I can see the fabric refresher spray becoming a reality at some point down the line! Cross our fingers!

And there we have it! Our second ever poll finale! Thanks to everyone for taking the time and voting! Check back really soon for a brand new line up of poll questions!

our first ever poll finale!

Why it's just like American Idol! Uhm, except there are no crazy judges, over the top performances, or closeted secrets! (I took care of that last one years ago. Ha ha!) So really, it's nothing like American Idol! But hey, it's method lust's first ever poll finale! You voted, I post, method listens! (Well, we can hope. Nah, they're great listeners! Nothing like that last guy you dated, who went on and on and on about himself, never shutting up; and when at the very last moment you realized you could fit in one sentence and went to blurt out "I'm having a heart attack, I need medical attention..." he would cut you off calling you rude and continuing on about his previous career as an off-broadway go-go dancer. Right? Right.) So anyway, on to the finish line!

Do you currently purchase method products?
YES - 211 votes
NO - 10 votes
STARTING TODAY - 9 votes

Nine people went out and started purchasing method products simply by coming to method lust and learning all about how great method is! That makes me feel rather wonderful! You know what they say, if you reach just one person, it was worth it! And we reached nine!

What would you love to see next from method?
HAIR CARE - 87 votes
DISH CUBES - 65 votes
TOILET BOWL TABLETS - 62 votes
CARPET CLEANER - 58 votes
BUBBLE BATH - 26 votes

Wow! Hair care wins out big time! And you know, I'm thinking we may get our wish when the new Marine Naturals personal care line debuts in August. Simply because hair care has shown up in the baby + kids line, so it can't be that far behind for the adults, right? I'll bet you! Dish cubes came in second (we all want those back method, are ya' listening? Is this thing on? Tap, tap... Please!) A close third were toilet bowl tablets; but honestly I had placed these on the list before realizing they were debuting lil' bowl blu. So while they're not toilet tablets, I think we may have gotten our wish there! Surprisingly, carpet cleaner comes in fourth, which I think a lot of people want this (especially me. I have two messy cats! And I uh, need this. And right now I gotta say I have the not so nice to the environment version, and would love a method variety. Rumors have swirled around that method has been working on this for a while!), and finally (What!?!) Bubble Bath comes in fifth. Bubble bath! Come on, bubbly bath rocks! I'm gonna grab my rice milk + mallow baby bubbly bath and squeeze it like crazy and play in all my glorious bubbles! So there! I want bubble bath please, is that too much to ask? Adults like bubbles too.

What scent would you like to see return?
ROSEMARY MINT - 70 votes
SPICED PEAR - 55 votes
LEMONGRASS - 37 votes
FIG - 20 votes

Wow! Rosemary mint blows everything else away! Who would have guessed?! Spiced Pear is definitely still loved (and I can still find a couple candles at my local Big Lots! Yum!) Poor Fig and Lemongrass, probably two of my all-time method scent favorites, relegated to the end. And I get SO many comments from people demanding the return of Fig to the line, permanently! (I join them! My house would be fig all the time, if method did this!) So I was shocked at the poll results.

And there we have it! Our first ever method lust poll results! I'll let everyone know as soon as the new method Rosemary Mint dish cubes make their way into stores! (Joking, joking! But that would rock, right?!) Check back really soon for a brand new line up of poll questions! And don't forget to vote! Thanks to everyone for participating!
