sneak peek - holiday 2012

sugared mint dish soap, frosted fir and sugared mint hand wash

Fall is here, so it's a perfect time to talk about holiday 2012! Huh? What about pumpkins and ghosties and hot apple cider? Pish! And posh! Who needs that when you have sugared mint and frosted fir! Ho ho ho-no! (Oh, yes!)

Though I must admit, as I was purchased a mistletoe candle at my Banana Republic last night (they have great seasonal candles!) I did express to the cashier that it might be a touch too early to be buying Christmas candles, but alas, I have a problem that only gingerbread and snowflakes can fix! So with that said, here's your holiday 2012 method sneak peek! method is calling them the "everything nice" and sugar and spice" collections!

gingerbread and mistletoe hand wash, frosted fir dish soap

This year brings the yay! return of frosted fir hand wash (gel)! I lust this stuff! It smells like Christmas trees and happiness! But along with frosted fir comes three new scents! Well, actually one new scent, but I'll get to that in a moment. We're also going to see sugared mint in hand wash (gel) and dish soap. (method, I have a threat for you. If this smells like candy cane, which smelled like peppermint vanilla, and you've just given it another new name for this holiday season, there's gonna be some black and blue elves. You've been warned.)

Next up will be gingerbread and mistletoe scents in foaming hand wash. These are actually two old method scents (though they might have been updated for 2012.) Gingerbread once existed in method's aircare fall edition line (and it was divine), while mistletoe is a hand wash scent from way back in method's heyday! I'm excited to see its return! And there will also be frosted fir dish soap to round out the entire line!

Are you excited? I can't wait! I have to say (and I say this every year, so just sigh along with me and get it over with) but I hate the whole foaming hand wash/gel hand wash "war". Ha! I was so excited for these new gingerbread and mistletoe scents, but they're both in foaming. I don't get foaming. Is it for lazy people who want their soap pre-suds-ed for them? Now, now, I'm not picking on you foaming hand wash luster (well, a little) but I just don't get it. So I'm disappointed these scents aren't in gel. We had frosted fir and candy cane in gel last year, so method should have shook it up a bit and given those to the foaming fans this year, and did the new scents in gel. But hey, I don't work there, so I don't know what their thinking is. And you know the old saying, "If you can't please everyone, at least please Nathan!" Oh no no, that's not it! Is it? (wink!)

I have to say, my favorite bottle shrinkwrap designs are for both the frosted fir items. They're nice, geometric and classy chic! The others are a bit too cutesy to me, which doesn't feel like method's usual direction. (What do you think?) These will be hitting Target shelves in early November, and you can already purchase them at drugstore.com (and soon on well.ca!)

Along with the holiday line, method has also released a new breast cancer awareness line of gel hand washes. These are available in their previous "designed for good" scents of mimosa sun and botanical gardens. And if that wasn't enough, they're relaunching their hand sanitizer line in little cute carry bottles (finally!) featuring their sweet water scent. The hand sanitizers have already been spotted in Targets!

So what will you be picking up for Santa Claus this year? Are you loving the new scents for the holidays? Let method lust know in the comments! (And thanks to anonymous for the holiday/drugstore.com shout out!)

brightly colored hello-agains!

Update + method lust was wrong! No, say it isn't so! No, no, no! Ok, well let's just live in Delusionville (cause Nathan ain't never wrong (cough), and you better bet that's right, peaches pants!) Looks like Target has been updating all my nearby stores to larger versions with fresh produce and groceries. And in true "WTH?!" Target mentality, they went ahead and clearanced out the spring limited edition hand wash line... just so they could then build an entirely new hand wash area a few shelves down, and reintroduce the spring limited edition hand wash line in a bigger display! That makes sense, right? Right... so they haven't been discontinued, as you've probably already figured out. Coconut grove, watermelon patch, daffodil bouqet, I knew we were still friends! I just knew it! (Sorry for the confusion. Blame Target! - wink.)

+

Spring may have just sprung, but method's now in season spring limited edition line seems to have already hopped away like the Easter bunny! I just noticed today at my local Target that the hand washes have gone on clearance (in fact, they only have three bottles left! Ahh!) I'm sure you'll still be able to purchase these favorites (especially the coconut grove, which seemed to garner lots of fans) over on method's website, but I'd stock up while I could (online, or off) before they've all sproinged out of here! Hey, I ran out of spring quips, ok? So long watermelon patch (you were the Jolly Rancher-iest!) See ya later coconut grove (you made us all think of jellyfish and suntans!) Away you go, daffodil bouqet (you made the bees bumble! Cause you're a flower. Get it? ok.)

Is a now in season summer limited edition line on the way?... (I'll let you know more, when I know more!)

first shots - lime + sea salt

method's new limited edition lime + sea salt line!

Wow! method luster Gary (who might be giving me a run for my money! Alright, dueling spray bottles at 12 noon, Gary! Cue the rolling dust bunnies across the wooden floor!) has found the new limited edition lime + sea salt method goodies at his local Target!

...well, found might be a tad incorrect. Rather, he didn't find them at the two Targets he visited, so he asked customer service, called the third Target, they went into the warehouse of the store and brought them out to him! They hadn't even hit store shelves yet! Wow, I might need to try that trick next time I head to Target!

So while you're waiting for the lime + sea salt fun to begin at your local store, check out the pics he took of his finds (thanks, Gary!) and you can read all the cute blurbs method put on the back of each bottle. Enjoy!

sneak peek - lime + sea salt and body washes

How about even more sneak peeks? Well, sure thing, method fanatics! First up, better shots of the new lime + sea salt limited edition all-purpose spray cleaner, dish soap and gel hand wash! You can read more about these beauties in the post below this one! And if that wasn't enough, more surprises will soon be hitting store shelves, including...

...new method moisturizing body washes (called pure naked) in olive leaf and white tea! Yes, it's true, method is bringing back two of their original body wash scents! At first I was ready to poo-poo the news with an ole' "Oh, those are just old products..." until I saw the photos and went "Whoa, they're back!" I'll miss almond flower (the third scent in this original moisturizing line) but I lusted the olive leaf like crazy, so I'm excited!

These should be hitting Target store shelves within the next month or so! Will you be picking these up? Excited some of your old favorite scents are returning to the body care line? (And special thanks to Gary for pointing me to the pics!)

hula time, method style!

Ah sneak peeks! I lust them, don't you? All the giddiness that you feel when you find out a new method product has just been discovered! It's kinda like Christmas morning every time one happens! Ok, well, maybe it's not that exciting, but it's really close! Maybe like when you go to your local coffee shop and they accidentally give you a size larger than you ordered, then say "Oops, my bad! You can have it anyway!" Yay! Wow, you know, there is a big difference between Christmas morning and getting extra coffee... hmm. So maybe somewhere inbetween those two things? What do you think? Oh oh, what? You don't frickin' care, you just want to know what the sneak peek is? Well, excuse me!

Over on method's official people against dirty blog, sandwiched inside a nice little post on a day in the life of Jeremy (who is lucky enough to work for method!) came this bit:

"...between emails and meetings, my time this morning is spent on finalizing the launch of our new limited edition lime and sea salt hand soap, dish wash, and all-purpose cleaner. what do you think? they look right at home on our tiki bar."

So, what do you think? Like the fun packaging? Will you be snapping up some lime + sea salt for yourself?

one man review - holiday 2011

Image via methodhome.com

Ho, ho, ho and a bottle of rum! Wait, what? That isn't a holiday song, but rather a pirates tune? And it starts out Yo, ho, ho? Really? Wow. I never knew that! Well, let me just say, some families would enjoy my version much better during the holiday season! (Hey, you know it's true.)

So anyway, enough about liquor and the holidays! How about some reviews! Believe it or not, it's been quite a while since I've done a one man review here on method lust! So in honor of the Christmas holiday season officially starting (hey, Thanksgiving is over buddy, get with the program! ) from here on out, this season is all about Santa Claus and ho-ho-ho, and mistletoe and presents to pret-ty girls! First up, method's 'tis the season' line of hand washes (only available online, and at Target stores with a grocery/fresh produce section:)

baked apple, toasted vanilla bean and winter oak hand washes

baked apple (gel and foaming hand wash) +  So I really didn't want to start off on a Scroogey note, but well, bah humbug! I had such high hopes for the baked apple. Another reader mentioned they thought it smelled a little like apple cider. That got me to thinking, could this be method's apple version of their spiced pear? All apples and cinnamon and clove and rich spices! That sounds like a baked apple to me! So the scent, well, I'll let my conversation with my boyfriend speak for itself:

me: "Here, smell this. Do you think it smells like baked apples? What does it smell like to you?"

the boyfriend: sniff - "Hmm, I don't know what it smells like, but it doesn't smell good, that's for sure."

me: "Yeah, unfortunately, I agree."

I couldn't even get an apple scent out of it. It was sorta some weird mish mash of vanilla and some kinda spice buried deep down and it was just... uninspiring. I couldn't even bring myself to buy and try a bottle, it was so disappointing. Sad face. The concept was great, the result was less than successful.

But, just to prove I'm not a total Scrooge, apparently there are baked apple lusters out there, via method's Facebook page:

"...I love love love the holiday edition baked apple hand wash! I just opened it and am totally in love with this scent."

toasted vanilla bean (gel and foaming hand wash) +  Our second review, well, it's kinda like the first one. I know, I know. method is never gonna bring me no figgy pudding at this point! (wink!) So how about another boyfriend conversation moment:

me: "What do you think of this? It's called toasted vanilla bean."

the boyfriend: sniff - "Wow. Uh, why does their holiday hand wash smell like suntan lotion?"

Agreed, hon, agreed! Perhaps that's the "toasted" portion of the scent, but it sincerely smells like coconut suntan lotion. In fact, I love that scent (it's crazy, I know!) So I was tempted to pick it up simply for that reason (having nothing to do with the fact that it's supposed to be a fall/winter scent) but started thinking about the new coconut grove hand wash that will be out in the spring, and decided to wait. Plus, I'm uh, trying to find holiday scents here, ya know?

2.5 out of 5 hard candy Christmases

+

winter oak (gel and foaming hand wash) +  Man, it looks like method's 'tis the season' line is a total bust! I mean, so far, nada. I should just pack my sleigh and move on, nothing to see here. Oh and whoa Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen (Rudolph was sick at home with a stuffy nose!) What do we have here? Why it's winter oak! Now, this is how method does it right! It's a very unique scent, kinda woodsy, kinda cologne/perfumey, kinda sweet, smoky, just nice! Perfect! Listen up method, these are the kind of scents we lusters expect from you! Something original, special, and oh so method! Perfect for the fall/winter months! Mmm. I snapped up a bottle quicker than you could say "dash away, dash away, dash away all!" (I know, I'm sorry. But trust me the holiday bits are far from over!)

PS - the boyfriend lusted winter oak, too, and even picked himself up a bottle!

And now on to method's holiday line:

frosted fir and candy cane hand washes

frosted fir (gel hand wash) + There is nothing I can ever say bad about frosted fir. It's Christmas tree Heaven! Returning for only it's second time around (for shame!) it's just an amazing scent, I lust, lust, super über-lust it! It is the scent of the holidays to me! method fans praise the hollyberry scent, but I personally think frosted fir is the best of the two! And this year it's also in dish soap?! method, I could give you a kiss! Just go stand under the mistletoe, ok? Now close your eyes! And pucker up...

5 out of 5 glasses of eggnog

+

candy cane (gel hand wash) + Wow! Just wow! I can't believe it, after years and years and years and well, you get the point of peppermint vanilla (which I think is just eh. Way too much vanilla, not enough peppermint!) method finally gives us a pure mint scent! I mean, it's called candy cane! How can it not be the peppermintiest! I can't wait! Yippee! To the sink I go, scrub scrub scrub my hands with new candy cane, mmm, mmm, mmm, it's so... wait. This smells exactly like peppermint vanilla. E to the x to the actly. What in the world is going on here? Why would method give us the exact same scent under the guise of a new name? This is so... cue Christmas crying face (you know, the face children give you when they don't get what they thought they were gonna get for Christmas!) So much potential. Down the drain.

Peppermint vanilla fans will lust it like crazy. The rest of us, not so much. Enough with the vanilla, method. Make 2012 vanilla free!

PS - Candy cane scent is also available in dish soap for the holiday season.

3 out of 5 hard candy Christmases + (1 out of 5 hard candy Christmases for giving us an old scent with a new name)

+

And finally, foaming holiday hand wash:

cinnamon drop and spiced pear hand washes

cinnamon drop (foaming hand wash) + This is a very true cinnamon candy scent! If you lust cinnamon drops, you'll lust this foaming hand wash! It's not very creative, or unique, but it's nice! I wish it were available in gel, as well.

3.5 out of 5 glasses of eggnog

+

spiced pear (foaming hand wash) + Oh man, why isn't this available in gel this year? Sniff. Spiced pear is a method classic. And unfortunately, I'm not sure method realizes this. It's a perfect fall/winter/holiday scent. But it comes around so rarely, and that's a shame. Pear mingled with all sorts of wintery spices. Seriously amazing. This should show up in stockings and on store shelves at least every other year, if I had my way (in gel, please! I just can't get my brain wrapped around foaming hand wash. I know, there are method fans for both sides! Fighting it out Snow Miser and Heat Miser style!) I just lust spiced pear scent to ribbon candy pieces! (Even the tiny candy shards that jab the roof of your mouth! Ouch! Whatever, I still lust you!)

5 out of 5 glasses of eggnog

+

And there you have it! method lust's 2011 holiday hand wash one man review (with a little help from my wonderful boyfriend!)  I realize scents (and our lust + hate dislike (mama said you should never hate nothing) for them) are a very personal thing - so, have you sledrided (is that even a word? No, no, it's not. But we'll use it anyway, cause I love annoying my 8th grade English teacher) down to your local Target (or gone online) and purchased any of these method holiday goodies? If so, what do you think? Do you agree or disagree with my reviews? What are your holiday lusts?

And with that... I heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight, "Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good method night!"

ho ho ho bits 'n pieces!

method lust reader Jon (thanks, Jon!) was kind enough to snap a photo of the new holiday hand wash that has started to pop up in select stores (this one was in a Gelson's grocery store.) I'm so excited to pick these up this year - can't wait. I am just in shock that frosted fir is back, baby, back! I lust that scent so much!

Along with this, method has just posted about their new 'tis the season' line of hand washes over on their official blog!

The posts states that the three scents (baked apple, toasted vanilla bean, and winter oak) will be available in gel and foaming hand wash! (I know a lot of fans will be excited about that!) And they are available "at your local Target grocery (and online soon!) until the end of january."

Has anyone found any of these products (holiday or 'tis the season'?) What do you think of the scents? Let method lust know!

sneak peek - holiday 2011

So how about a little method holiday 2011 sneak peek? You know, the holiday season is just about upon us! (Well, at least my version, which consists of all three months - October, November (gobble gobble!), and December!) And of course this year method is giving us our holiday gifts early! Expect to see the new holiday line popping up on store shelves near the end of October! As Joey Lawrence would say, Whoa!

Not only that, but it looks like this year our beloved holiday dish soap is making a comeback! As the Kool-Aid man would also say, Oh yeah! I'm so excited! So look for hand wash and dish soap! The dish soap will be available in frosted fir (so excited, so excited, so excited, I can't believe this has made a return appearance! I lust it so!) and new candy cane scents! How awesome does that sound?! I know everyone adores method's peppermint vanilla, but personally I always wished it had more mint, and less well, vanilla! So it looks like this year I might get my wish!

The hand wash will be available in candy cane and frosted fir gel hand wash, and spiced pear (oh my goodness! So disappointed this isn't available in gel, but still excited for it's return. Spiced pear is the method bomb of awesomeness!) and cinnamon drop (another new scent!) foaming hand wash!

What do you think? Are you excited for these scents, and the return of holiday dish soap? Will you be hoarding bottle after bottle? Cause yeah, you know I will!

sneak peek - new hand washes

UPDATE Stopped by my local Targets tonight (of course I did!) and one of the three has started getting some of the new products in. Yay! They had the limited edition clementine hand wash, clementine all-purpose spray cleaner, dish soap refill pouches in clementine and cucumber, orange zest antibac kitchen spray cleaner, orange zest antibac wipes, and a surprise (method lusts surprising even me at times, when I see a product I had no clue was actually debuting!) - limited edition lemon mint dish soap! I immediately snatched up the dish soap, and will be on the lookout for the remaining limited edition hand washes! Have you found any of the new goodies? What are you looking forward to most?

PS - While the orange zest antibac still has that trademark Thymol scent, I think they might have hit on something great here. You can honestly smell the orange in there, and it really helps brighten up the total scent! I think it smells pretty great!

+

How about a little hand wash sneak peek? I knew you'd say yes! So check out our newest limited edition method friends about to hit Target shelves (start checking next week!) Above is new foaming hand wash in lemon mint, and gel hand washes in juicy pear, hibiscus flower and clementine! You can also check out the foaming hand wash in hibiscus flower and waterfall here! - These two scents in foaming are permanent!

One bit of curiousity is the fact that lemon mint is coming in foaming hand wash (I had heard it was going to be gel.) While hibiscus is also coming in gel (which I'd heard was only going to be foaming. Whew!) So who knows, maybe each of these scents will be appearing in both versions! (Which would be great, as I'm so excited for lemon mint, but personally not a foaming hand wash fan.) I guess we'll just have to wait til they hit shelves! Let method lust know via comments or email if you start seeing them at your local stores!

clean sweeps

+ A wonderful method luster let me know they've just found method's creamy moisturizing hand wash line (olive leaf, white tea, and almond flower) as well as some gel hand washes in sweet water and green tea + aloe, at their local Big Lots! The creamy hand wash is $2.00, while the gel hand wash is $1.50. Snatch some up!

+ Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart to the wonderful readers that donated to method lust's registration renewal request! You all rawk! And we've already hit our goal! So yay! A big ole' wet kiss from me, to you!

one man review - hand wash

Wow! It's been a while since our last one man review, hasn't it? Man, that Nathan is a no good lazy bleepity bleep! I swear... I'm gonna give him a real good talkin' to! Until then, though, why don't we just review ourselves some hand washes!

Today is a double dip one man review! Not one, but two hand wash scents! Whoa whoa, calm down there fellow luster! I know how excited you are, but really, chill out. Take a deep breath, grab some water, and see what I thought of both the new "guest star" mandarin mango, AND the old school vintage holiday mistletoe (I just got it yesterday in the mail! Yay!) hand wash!

+ The new mandarin mango method hand wash is out now in stores. It's labeled as a "guest star" meaning limited edition, so it won't be around for long! I picked up a bottle recently, and while not being a fan of fruit scents, I really like this one! As I've mentioned before, it sorta reminds me of orange Kool-aid. Is that a good or a bad thing, that's up to you! There is definitely a mandarin/orange top note; with the underlying mango coming in near the end - giving it a little extra burst of fruit freshness! I have to say I actually like this mandarin mango a whole lot more than method's ginger yuzu. Of course I like orange scents, so it's just a personal preference. The mandarin mango hand wash is available in gel wash only, exclusively at Target stores. I'm giving it a 4 out of five!

+ Second up is the vintage method holiday mistletoe hand wash! This was recently discovered available on ebay, and while you end up paying a tad bit much for hand wash (due to the shipping fee) if you're a diehard method fan like me, you just HAVE to try out this scent! The back of the bottle actually lists it as having been released in 2005! This was one of the few scents that ACTUALLY made it out before I got into method (sacrilege!) so I simply had to snatch up a bottle! I got it in the mail yesterday, and was all giddy and giggly!

The bottle is this cute light holiday-ish green, and it has these little white ornaments printed on the front of the bottle (like all bottles in the early holiday lines.) I have to say the scent is really light! Now, I honestly can't say if this is because it's an older product, and the scent has waned over the years, or if this was how the product was produced. So for the sake of my review, I'm just going with this being the mistletoe scent. Honestly, it sorta reminds me of frosted fir mixed with cut grass (no joke!) and then have the whole scent taken down by 50%. Subtle, but nice! And seriously, if you're a cut grass aircare fan, you will REALLY like this. The more I smelled it on my hands after I had washed them, the more I thought it reminded me of the cut grass scent. It's green, grassy, with just the tiniest touch of sweet. I say give it a try, while you still can! The mistletoe hand wash is only available via ebay (as far as I know. Though method lust reader Rhonda let me know she found a bunch of holiday packs, some featuring mistletoe, recently at a Salvation Army in Chicago! So who knows where else you might find it. But this scent hasn't been produced to my knowledge, since 2005.) It's available in gel wash only (as they didn't even have foaming and creamy hand wash back then! Wow!)
I'm giving it a 3.5 out of five! I think it's a really nice scent, but method has since improved upon the idea with frosted fir.

ebay candle + hand wash sets!

Ooh, more ebay goodies and deals! I thought this was a great deal, you get both a candle AND hand wash, for almost less money than just the candle cost in retail stores (and now with the aircare candles seemingly discontinued, it's an even BETTER deal!) - AND free shipping! Don't miss out!

+ method hollyberry candle and gel hand wash - $8.99 (Buy It Now Price) + FREE! shipping - Six sets available! (The candle comes in the holiday round ceramic candle jar. I love these jars, you can use them for so many different things once the candle is gone!)

+ method sweet water candle and gel hand wash - $8.99 (Buy It Now Price) + FREE! shipping - Three sets available! The candle comes in the regular ceramic candle jar.)
