new debuts!

Spring is just around the corner (March 20th!) and true to fashion, method has begun sneaking out some great new products for us! And we all lust new method products, right? Take a look at the first two photos which feature method's spankin' new bottle design! You can view the new clementine scented all-purpose spray bottle here!

Their all-purpose sprays have also been reformulated with something they are calling powergreen technology, which helps the cleaners work even harder at naturally tackling stains and messes! And the glass cleaner is now a glass and surface cleaner. So you can use it all over your house, it's not just for glass anymore! (Mint scent everywhere? As the Kool-Aid man would say, Oh Yeah!)

Next up is a nifty new scent for their antibac line (oddly enough still in their old bottle design.) The new scent, which will be added to the lemon verbena kitchen line, is orange zest!

And finally, we have a-freakin-dorable new kids hand washes shaped like Mickey and Minnie Mouse heads (with official Disney logos on the bottle!) These will be available in lemonade and strawberry fizz scents! I'm not sure if these are Disney park products, or if they'll show up in stores; but they are available on method's online shop right this very minute (along with everything else I've mentioned here!)

And this is just the beginning, because in just a couple of weeks (mid-April) we'll also be seeing four, yes four, new limited edition hand wash scents hitting shelves (including lemon mint! Yes, you heard me right! And I've already announced another of the scents in a recent post here on method lust, so if you're a good little reader, you already know two of the four!) And speaking of limited edition scents, I noticed recently (this obviously passed me by) that their waterfall scent is now permanent (no more limited edition wording on the bottle!) Mandarin mango and waterfall are here to stay, while violet bloom and red currant are currantly currently still limited editions.

Ah, spring time! What? It's still winter and frosty and cold and there are snowmen frolicking in your yard? Well, here in North Carolina it's a very springy week (so far!) And spring leads one to day dream about new method products! Really, it does. No, I'm being serious. Whatever, so I day dream about new method products all the time. I even come up with my own sometimes. And then I forget which are the real products, and which are the fake products, and then sometimes I'll have to go cry in a corner for a little bit because I need to mourn the product that I thought was real real but was really just fake real. You know what I mean? But don't worry, it's not a really bad crying jag. More of a whimper with some tears. Maybe the occassional wail, but nothing more. I promise...

So yeah, new products! Well, if you follow method over on their Facebook page, you notice every once in a while they'll pop something big in over there, just to see if people are paying attention. And trust me, I am. I am! How about these two goodies!

+ Looks like we'll be seeing new limited edition hand washes this April! So use up what you have left from the holiday line, and get ready for some delicious scented newbies to fill Target shelves! (And psst - just between you and me, we're talking not just one, but four new scents! 2 + 2 = four new scents! But that's all I can tell you now. More news the closer it gets to April... is it April yet? Oh, ok. Man, I got a while... argh.)

+ method also announced on their Facebook page that we should be seeing new dish soap refills hitting shelves this Spring! How cool is that! Hey, they might even have a new lemongrass dish soap refill out then, too! Wait, what? That's one of my pretend real products? Well, I refuse. method, get on it! (But uhm yay, dish soap refills!)

and lastly (not new product related, but still cool method product related)

+ method luster Jamison has let me know he's just found a new shipment of method candles showing up at his Big Lots store! Frosted fir, fig, cut grass, peppermint vanilla and more! So of course I leapt from my work chair, told them I had the flu suddenly, and ran to Big Lots to find... nothing. Yet! But I'm holding out they just haven't hit my store shelves yet! Cause frosted fir candles... oh yeah. Who needs Valentine's day 50% off candy when you got frosted fir candles. Who needs Valentines day 50% off candy when you have a date... oh but let's not go there, ok? I'm still mourning my method teeth whitening system. Yes! Yes, it's a real fake product. Hence the mourning! So let's leave dating out for the time being. I can only take one disappointment at a time... and you are a disappointment, Ted! A complete and total disappointment! Don't talk to me like that! Where were my roses, Ted? Hmm?... wait, is this thing off?...

Word on high from method's latest Tweet is their limited edition hand wash scent, red currant, is here to stay! Asked on Twitter:

Q: " are you going to make currant a new scent?"
A: "{reply} yes it's becoming a permanent fixture! keep looking."

As you'll probably remember (unless you suffer from short term memory loss, in which case, I'm sorry. That must suck! I read once... wait, who are you again? Where am I?...) method did the same thing with their other limited edition scent, mandarin mango!

One possible thing to keep in mind is, at least for Target shoppers - Target as you know loves keeping the method products they carry streamlined. So as method continues to add new scents to their hand wash line, it's rather inevitable that old ones will be clearanced by Target (though method may continue to carry them on their online store!) So what are your thoughts? Stick with the old favorites, or roll out the new friends?

You can find method's other limited edition scents, waterfall and violet bloom, still hanging out on select Target store shelves! And I would make a bet we'll be seeing a new one before too long! (Let's hope it's sooner rather than later!)

+ How many of you have seen the new method creamy hand washes at your local Targets? I know they hit a few Targets back in November, as I got some feedback from method advocates; but honestly I have yet to see them show up at any of my local Targets! (Which is weird, cause we usually get everything around here method wise!) So if you happen to see them, let me know!

Well, well, well... look what's back for a return engagement! method's moisturizing creamy hand wash in coconut cream + honey, and cucumber + aloe! (Literally, like some guy is probably placing these bottles onto shelves at your local Target store at this very moment! Now that the new products are (well, ok, in some places) starting to hit (Target) store shelves, as you have a chance to pick them up and give'em a try, what do you think? (Wow, that was one big run on sentence, wasn't it?)

I'm talking about anti-bac spearmint and lemon verbena spray cleaner, anti-bac lemon verbena wipes, fresh currant limited edition hand wash, fresh air fabric softener, sweet pea baby detergent, and sea minerals, clementine, and cucumber dish soap.

Throw us a review (you can email me one! And I'll post it here on methodlust!) Compare the new products with their old counterparts (ha ha, get it, counterparts. Oh yeah, I'm good!) Looks like Target has started another round o' method clearances. This time around it's hand wash, hand wash, and oh yeah, hand wash. Like refresh mint or waterflower? Better head out and pick some up real quick like, because not only has the gel wash been phased out, but now the foaming is also on clearance (and for a fact, I know the gel will be discontinued by the end of the year from the method line; not sure if the foaming is now in the same boat. The body wash is safe, so no worries there!) The go naked gel hand wash had also been clearanced from Target a few weeks ago.

Along with those products, they're also kicking out the new creamy hand wash line (coconut + honey and cucumber + aloe.) I know method had some issues with their coconut + honey not being vegan, and they did at the time state they were going to reformulate it. So I'm not sure if this is the end for their creamy hand wash line once more, or if Target has just decided to drop it?

I believe this is all setting the stage for their upcoming kitchen hand wash line (announced in the New York Times!) which I think will be hitting shelves in September (if not earlier.)

Whew, and that's all the hand wash news I got at the moment! More information as I get it (or find it on the shelves!)

A couple of bippity-bops!

UPDATE Bought it! Lovin' the coconut cream + honey fragrance! And I can definitely tell they've upped the moisturizing properties in the hand wash. It's silky now! Give it a try!

Stumbled upon the new moisturizing hand wash today! Believe it or not I didn't pick any up. I'm totally planning on doing so, I just remembered I had a $1 off coupon laying around at home and so I'm holding off until I grab that! I think both scents are pretty wonderous! The coconut cream + honey smells like, well, coconut! And the cucumber + aloe smells really fresh and slightly green (perhaps even a bit floral to me, but just a touch.) Still no sign of the waterfall gel hand wash scent, though I am hearing from other method lusters that they've found it on Target's shelves! Reader Aaron says "It's a bit more "watery" smelling than the sea minerals, which I think is a bit more powdery (without being feminine)." Hmm...

+ Picked up the last three remaining lavender + lemongrass aroma pill refill packs in my area. Almost all the Targets around me are OUT of them, so while the purchase was painful ($20! - that first tier clearance price of 15% Target does is laughable) I didn't want to miss out on what MIGHT be my last chance! Sigh... (keeping fingers crossed.)

+ According to method, their new laundry detergent will hit Target stores by February 14th!

Did you catch the method product appearance in last weeks wonderous (but then again, they're ALL wonderous!) episode of Glee, on Fox? If you did, you'd have seen this cute little quilted creamy hand wash bottle on their bedroom side table! Wait? What's that, in the bedroom?

Yep! It seems they decided to use it more as a lotion bottle in appearance, then a soap bottle. And you know what, I think that's a great idea! method needs to bring back their hand lotion (green mint, please!) and present it to us in those adorably quilted petite bottles they've been using for years for their creamy hand wash! It'd be perfect, and it's a really nice bottle to, of course, like all their products, keep out for others to see!

UPDATE I just checked with method, and unfortunately mandarin mango hand wash is a Target exclusive, and therefore won't be available in Canada. Sniff! Sorry, Canadians!

Check out this sneek peak of method's new limited edition (or rather, guest star!) mandarin mango hand wash! I think it's pretty cute they've decided to give it the title of "guest star" instead of "limited edition" (like they've done in the past.) It's pretty neat, and would definitely let consumers know it won't be around forever!

The oh so über cool website, Apartment Therapy, has a nice little write up on hand soaps people have in their homes that help to "impress your guests!" The article goes:

"Perhaps it's a case of the grass always being greener, but it seems that whenever we go over to a friend's house and use the bathroom, their hand soap smells better than ours. Maybe theirs is more expensive or perhaps they just stumbled on the best Method scent or it's just nice to smell something different, but we tend to appreciate this little detail more at others' homes than in our own. Does this happen to you?"

They then go on to mention method hand wash!

Uhm, if that price is right, I'm glad I don't live in Los Angeles (the area the article is taken; they break up Apartment Therapy by "hip" cities, LOL; San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York, etc.) $4.99?! My local Target carries it for $3.29! (Though I'd imagine Los Angeles would be a tad bit pricier.)

I love some of the comments readers left, including this one:

"We have both bathrooms stocked with Method's Rain (or something like that). It's a great smell, and it's clear, so it would go with any bathroom." Obviously they're talking about Sweet water! I just love how they got Rain out of that!

"I always keep bar soap as well as liquid because I've noticed that some people (AHEM, MEN) seem to prefer it, and at least in the case of my boyfriend and dad, don't wash their hands properly with liquid soap. Sigh."

Remember those times when you were a child, and you dreamed of all the wonderful trinkets, toys, and things dear ole' Santa Claus would bring you? Remember that magical feeling you used to get as Christmas and the holidays crept ever closer? Twinkling lights, hot cocoa, candy canes, Christmas carols, big packages, glittery wrapping paper (well, my mom still uses glittery wrapping paper! I think it's her way of trying to be "ok with me." Glitter = gay, well, at least in her books. Ok? And really, it's a sweet gesture (cause psst, glitter = gay. Well, ok, I may be biased!) Anywho, remember all those snowy, wintery, precious Holiday moments of our childhood?

And how now, as adults, we pretty much spend most of our time trying to relive our holiday past! Cause, seriously, life just blows as adults! Oh, what, sorry, am I bitter? Never.

Well, in much the same way (minus the blowing part. Cause method still rocks our world!), let's take a stroll back in method time! And check out two previous website images oh so long ago! Above is a shot showcasing the debut of their peppermint vanilla, hollyberry, and mistletoe line! Yeah, this image is old! Like when you were four years old, old. Except in method years. Which is more like cat years. Cause they're not that old, yet. (Well, they're more than four years old, but oh, you know what I mean!)

...And does anyone remember these? Holiday bundles promoting their peppermint vanilla, and hollyberry scents. They came in cute wire sink caddies! All packed up in adorable packaging, with a little candle (what their candles used to look like), or hand lotion. The copy reads:

"Fruitcake is not a biodegradable gift - Actually one of our summer interns checked on this so it's almost definitely incorrect. We're sending the fruitcake people a method sink set as a peace-offering. If you want to get on someone's good side, send them a set as well. Holiday sets are available in stores. The peppermint vanilla sink set is available online. Includes hand wash, hand lotion and a sink caddy."

Yeah, get this, way back when, they had two holiday scents, in hand lotion, a candle, and hand soap. NOW don't you feel special with all the scent and product choices you get during the holidays? I know I do!

+ While (again) roaming the Harris Teeter aisles this past weekend, I stumbled upon the lustfully wonderful method hand wash cardboard stand, and my eyes bulged out! It's as if that sucker had been wiped out! Apparently last year's scents are still a big deal, as there was only one cinnamon bark left (all beat up, too. Poor cinnamon bark bottle), one hollyberry, and surprisingly (as I always think this is everyone's favorite scent, though not mine. - Too vanilla-y, not enough peppermint for me) four peppermint vanilla's were sitting there. I'm curious to see if these get restocked, but either way, I'd do a run and grab before they're gone!

+ Where is everyone? It's like the day after Christmas and you're all in a sugar coma! I haven't heard barely a peep out of anyone for quite a while! Peep, peep!

all that's old is new again

After heating up some really tasty apple pie, and pouring a piping hot cup of tea, I was all ready for breakfast! (Yes, breakfast, don't ask. No, I don't usually eat apple pie for breakfast, but man, this is some good apple pie. And hey, is it any worse than those Starbucks muffins and such? Eh, I think not. If so, let me live in breakfast ignorance.) And then I went to grab my cream (I'm an English type of hot tea drinker, I suppose. Gotta have the cream.) and... it was bad. Dang! So on went my blue jeans, out the door I ran, off to the grocery store! Which in my part of the woods, is (mainly) Harris Teeter. (I just checked, they're located in the southeast.)

While roaming down the aisles, cause it was way too early to actually remember where they kept the cream (Dairy aisle, Nathan. Dairy aisle. I know, I know! But it's too early, and I'm tired even though I just woke up, and I want my apple pie!) guess what I found! A brand spanking new cardboard stand of method holiday hand wash! And not just any holiday hand wash, but last years! method said to be on the lookout for their return, in stores other than Target. And the (apparent) difference between this and the recent finds at Office Max, are these look to be new, while Office Max's seem to be leftovers from last year. (I could be wrong on all of this, though. Hey, I'm only human. Well, mostly.)

I remember method's holiday design for last year was imagery with those little plastic reindeers, with the glowing red noses. And this cardboard stand, holding the hand washes, had a snowman on it, with method information. I so wanted to take a pic for the blog, but man, it's like right out in the middle of the aisle for all to see, and I knew I'd be in trouble if I started flicking away with my digital camera! Of course I could wear my method shirt into the store, and look all professional... hmm?

Anyway, all three scents from last year, hollyberry, peppermint vanilla, and cinnamon bark are available at your local Harris Teeter! So be sure to hunt out the little cardboard stand somewhere in your store, cause these hand washes are not on shelves.

Plus, speaking of Harris Teeter, right now they are having some amazing sales on method products! Literally every method product was on sale, so check them out and pick up some backstock! You can never have enough method! Well, until you've filled up your entire house with method products, and can no longer live in your home, because it's now a method storage unit. Which I think method might find bad, just cause, you know living on the street so you can have one of every method product isn't really what they had in mind (I don't think, hmm...)

"I'm a big fan of Method products. They list their product ingredients on their website and they smell fantastic. I'm completely aware that I am also a sucker for their packaging and their marketing. Finally, they're convenient as long as there is a Target or Whole Foods nearby. Just when I was getting bored with their current "flavors," Method has released fresh new scents for the holidays.

For a little hint of winter, try their 100% vegetable wax candle in a recyclable glass votive. This year's scents include toasted hazelnut, winter berry, spiced pear and frosted fir. [Scratch and sniff computer monitors would come in handy right about now.]

Just wanted everyone to know, right now Target has some great method price specials going on until the 15th! They've got all the holiday hand washes on sale for $2.66, as well as all aroma sprays for $2.99 (one dollar off!), and a few other special prices going on in the aircare aisle!

But the biggest surprise was Target reducing the holiday aroma rings (as it's not listed as a sale price, but instead the regular shelf price sticker has been replaced) from $6.99, to $4.99! What a deal! So while I'm not personally a huge fan of the aroma rings, I finally snagged me a purty spiced pear ring for my bedroom!

Rush over to Target while the specials are still, well, special!

vintage holiday

Holiday is here! (Wha, huh? Something called Thanksgiving? Oh yeah, that. Anyway!) Holiday is here!

So I'm planning on taking a look at method during hoidays past. I thought you might all enjoy this quick pic of method holiday hand wash, vintage style! I'm going to go out on a limb here and say this is probably method's first holiday foray, featuring hollyberry, mistletoe, and snowy days hand wash! (And check out the cute snowflake on the bottles!)

Did any readers out there get to try these products? Of course we've gotten our share of hollyberry (yay!), I have (yes, have!) some snowy day hand lotion, and a candle; but I've never seen mistletoe! Oh, and check this out! Over on giantsavings.com, they list method hand wash, and HAVE mistletoe in the drop down list! Do you think it's still actually available from them? I have my doubts. I've heard bad stories about giantsavings.com (they charge you, then say they're out of stock at the moment. And it takes them forever to get it to you.) Do you think this would happen with the hand wash? Has anyone tried giantsavings.com. I'm SO curious! If a box arrived at my doorstep with mistletoe hand wash in it, I think I'd faint! FAINT I tell you! ahhh!

no green to go green(er)?

While washing dishes this weekend, I noticed something! I had been using my old spiced pear dish soap from a couple years ago; and then recently went out to purchase a new bottle (cause mmm, it smells so Heavenly to me!) And I went to squeeze some out, and tada, it was clear! Hmm!

The oddity was that the original bottle of soap was tinted green. (See above pic. Bottle on left, green bottle, clear liquid. Bottle on right, clear bottle, green liquid.) In fact, all the old dish soap liquids were tinted; whereas now they're clear, and the bottle let's advocates "know what scent they're getting." I've thought about this in the past, and wondered if it wouldn't be cool if the bottles were all in the scent colors, but the product inside would be clear. - Hand wash, dish soap, spray cleaner? I know method uses natural colorings and such for their products, but would clear products be even more green? Curious!

What do you think? Would you go clear, if method did? (Actually, I think the holiday hand wash is clear this year, as well? Am I right? Hmm, must go investigate some more...)

is the bark back?

UPDATE AND, the bark is back! - Sorta. I did indeed stop in Office Max today, and low and behold, they had a small holiday section in the store (like, small. And not in the green section, like Netta's. In fact, my store's green section was a tiny endcap. Seriously, I asked. Sad, I know.) But it appears (at least at my store) these are leftovers from last year. As the aroma sticks I found were last years short, round bottom glazed ceramic vases. (Not the inverted ones Netta mentioned. So I'm not sure what's up?) And I found the hand wash in all three scents (only three bottles of each.) No all surface cleaner. (They also had some method hand sanitizer in the general cleaning section, for those that lusted it! It's been gone for a while from method's product line.) So I picked me up some Cinnamon Bark hand wash! I'm so excited! Thanks Netta, you are the best! (PS - it's all a bit pricier than Target, $3.99 for hand wash, $14.99 for the aroma sticks. But I expected that, unforunately, at a store like this.)

...and the peppermint vanilla, and the hollyberry? method lust reader Netta mentioned to me that on a recent trip to Office Max, she discovered the green products section of the store! And that wasn't the only thing she discovered:

"...to my surprise they had Method products in this area as well. They had gel hand wash in hollyberry, cinnamon bark, and peppermint vanilla! Aroma sticks in hollyberry, cinnamon bark, and peppermint vanilla and they were in the new inverted ceramic containers. They also had the surface spray in all three scents. Now I remember reading your blog and you mentioned that these scents were from last year, so as I stood there staring at them wondering where in the world did they come from? Are these leftovers from last year and if so how did the aroma sticks make it into the new inverted ceramic containers? Are these scents making an appearance this holiday season or only at certain retailers?"

Wow! Could this be the "only in limited availability" caveat that was mentioned for peppermint vanilla's holiday return (as well as luster Quill being told earlier this year that cinnamon bark hand wash would be back!) I sure don't know, Netta! But I'll be making an Office Max run real quick like, you can be sure of that! If anyone else takes note of these items at Office Max, let method lust know! Also, Costco has been known to carry fall edition, and holiday versions of method products. So if anyone has a membership to Costco, go check out the method section, and let me know if you see anything unique! Thanks!
