clean sweeps

UPDATED

+ Be sure to check out your newspaper this Sunday, as method has a nice and nifty $1. off coupon for their new anti-bacterial cleaning line inside!

+ method lust reader Jason let us know he's recently found all-surface cleaning spray in lavender and pink grapefruit, at his local Big Lots! For a mere $1.50! Other readers have also found squeaky green laundry detergent (64 load bottle!) in sweet water and free + clear for $5.00; and almond flower creamy body wash for $3.00! So head on out this weekend and see if your Big Lots has some new method goodies! And let method lust know what you find!

HOLIDAY UPDATEI took a stroll into Target today, and discovered some of the "competition" aircare lines are hitting shelves now. method's holiday hand wash line hasn't shown up yet (it should hit early-November) but the Glade line is out in around five scents, including candles and aroma spray. I gotta say though, I think Glade is pretty much bottom of the barrel when it comes to quality (and it's definitely not green) so I'd have to take a pass on their holiday line. But they do have a peppermint crush candle that smells a lot like method's peppermint vanilla scent.

Febreze also has a holiday line of candles and spray out, including cranberries and frost, which reminds me of method's frosted cranberry scent. And finally, Target has gotten in two of Mrs. Meyer's candles from their holiday line (orange clove and Iowa pine.) Now they have four in the line, as well as dish soap, spray cleaner and hand wash. So I'm not sure if Target will be getting the remainder in later, or if this is all we get. - Which would be a huge disappointment. Except, the candles are already a disappointment (as far as I'm concerned.) They're tiny, I'm talking 4.9 oz. tiny! method's candle line was 6.5 oz at $7.99, and people complained about that price. Mrs. Meyer's holiday candles are 4.9 for $6.99! Once you see them, you might understand. I simply can't justify the price, so I won't be buying these. And the orange clove scent, totally not what I was hoping for. A couple years ago Old Navy put out an amazing orange clove candle that smelled 200% better than the Mrs. Meyer's candle. So I'll be passing on these as well.

I'm curious what everyone else thinks once they've had a chance to check out these lines, so drop method lust a comment or email! Here's to wishing yet again, method would give us our great holiday line back! Cause the other brands don't seem to be cutting it.

"My" Big Lots has the 32 oz fabric softener for $3...but I'm more of a dryer sheet kind of gal. I had a pretty good haul at Ross the other day and ended up with various Method goodies, a big bottle of Tigi Catwalk shampoo, and some of the Juicy Couture mens' skincare products for a whopping $3 (compare at $42).

I am a huge fan of the Mrs. Myers Iowa Pine scent. Yes, the candles are slightly expensive, but they burn cleaner and longer than Method's and the ENTIRE jar burns. No leftover wax. I'll be purchasing a few of these. I will also be buying the spray cleaner (though I have some stockpiled from last year) and the dish soap too. I absolutely love the Iowa Pine scent. My Christmas decorations and scents/cleaning products go up/out November 1st.

Jamison, have you seen the candles? I swear they're smaller than last years version. You and your November 1st Christmas decor! LOL

Jamison, I am right there with you on the Iowa Pine scent! It's Christmas in liquid form to me! Unfortunately, Mrs. Meyers will only be producing candles this year in the Iowa Pine scent. This year their featured holiday scent is the Orange Clove, so it gets the "full" lineup.

I'm also a big fan of the Iowa Pine scent by Mrs. Meyer's...it's the most realistic non-fake Christmas tree scent I've found. And I'm fine with the size and price of the candle, it is definitely a higher quality than what method was using for their candles. I'm also a sucker for the jar container, I like the presentation and that the jar can easily be reused.

I hate to say it, but Mrs. Meyer's products (at least to me) seem to be of a higher quality overall, and their scents have a more natural smell. That's just my opinion of course.

I am so disappointed! My Big Lots only had some leftover bloqs & some baby products. No Almond Flower creamy body wash (my all-time favorite method product). No all-surface cleaning spray (my second favorite). No creamy hand wash! No gel hand wash. No laundry detergent or fabric softener. I might have to venture out to another store tonight. And by tonight I mean, right now!

Sabrina, I actually haven't found the fabric softener or cleaning sprays myself. Only ONE Big Lots had gel hand wash, and it was only five bottles. All of mine do have the rest, though. So many yours will get some in soon!

Nathan, you're right. The candles are much, much smaller this year. Still, I am a sucker for that scent. Bath and Body Works has a really good Balsam scented candle that is cheaper and larger. Probably will end up going with a few of those to give me my Christmas fix. Yankee Candle also has a really good cedar/pine scent, but I don't trust what they put in those things.

Jason, I am wondering if Target is going to carry the cleaning sprays and soaps. The endcaps I have found are already full to the brim with no space left for soaps and sprays. Maybe Target will do another endcap with the Method and Mrs. Meyers soaps/handwashes/sprays... I am sure we'll see in a few days.

Can't wait to get my decorations up November 1st and have the house smelling like the season!

Glad to see you got what I was saying about the candle size. Ridiculous. The balsam candle at Bath and Body works is AMAZING! I'm drooling, for sure. But I did stock up (bought two, is that stocking up?) a couple years ago on their tree scented holiday candle (75% off!) so I might just stick with that.

What happens to Thanksgiving, Jamison? Do you just ignore that holiday? ;)

Oh no, so the Iowa Pine candle IS smaller? Bummer! What's with that?!

NO faith in me Karin? For shame! ;)

Found the Mrs. Meyers Orange Clove and Iowa Pine candles at Target over the weekend. The Orange Clove was a disappointment, so I skipped it. The smell was so faint and really nothing special. I did buy an Iowa Pine candle, and I will be buying more of them as I lust that scent for Christmas!

Jason, I too was disappointed in the orange clove scent. I had such high expectations! Barely orange, barely clove.

I know it's not a green line, but Michael's has a GREAT Orange Clove candle that I look forward to every year. I happened in there yesterday and found that they've already been clearance out and I managed to get the large jar size for a mere 2.39! If you've got orange clove lust def. stop by Michael's!

Nathan, I agree about it being barely orange or clove! I was expecting a spicy orange scent. :(
