no more scent

NO no, never fear! method hasn't decided to go and make all their products in only go naked varieties! But rather, I just discovered something. You can actually scrape off the scent name on your hand wash bottles. With a fingernail. Easy as pie (why is that a saying? Pie is so not that easy to make, ya' know?)

The reason for this is, I have a french lavender hand wash bottle, and I ran out of soap. SO, I found some green tea + aloe refill cheap at Big Lots, and decided to give it a try. But all I could do was stare at the words french lavender, while looking at the neon bright green tea hand wash in the bottle. (Yes, I've told you, I need lots of therapy. Lots.) So then, one day I gave this fingernail name scratching thing a try! And it worked! And now I have a nice clean bottle that could be refilled with any scented method soap, and people wouldn't wonder why lavender was green?

Sigh... yes, I am that anal. Would you actually consider doing this? Or do you think I've completely lost my mind? (I believe I know the answer to this...)

I'm actually really glad you made this discovery. Because I want to reuse my bottles and just buy the refills but I'm always switching scents. Now I don't have to worry!

You are NOT crazy...I have had the same, ahem, worry about re-filling my french lavendar with sea minerals. Ha!

Yes-you are indeed crazy...however...I'd do the EXACT.SAME.THING.

What does that say???

Therapy??? Retail therapy perhaps - lol I am going to try that as I am about to fill up mine with a different scent (and it just won't do to have the label reading incorrectly!)

PS LOVE Big Lots - My BFF and I went down and snagged lots of method goodness - nearly put our DH's into cardiac arrest - and the border guard though I was completely off my nut(when I came back through). So I took a moment to explain how great it was - never miss a chance to add another method advocate - lol.

i currently have a pomegranate labeled bottle that is filled with eucalyptus mint. the fact that teal colored soap is labeled pomegranate bothers me. i will give the old fingernail scratch a try! you are NOT alone =)

nathan, you never fail to amaze me... because I can't wait to get home and scrape "sweet water" off of the bottle that now has green tea and aloe in it... every time I look at it, it bothers me...
this is good stuff to know!!!

Slight update here! Ok, uhm, I did this on an older bottle (before they did the multi languages) and so 1) less to scratch off; and 2) it really did scratch off with my fingernail! BUT when I tried this on a relatively new bottle, it didn't work as well. (Tougher printing? LOL I have no idea!) What DID work (but alas, this is, I believe, so not environmentally friendly) was to use a little Goo Gone. Just rub some over the words you want to disappear, and they'll go bye! I love me some Goo Gone on rare occasion for stickers and such, but I really don't think it's very green... sigh.

SO, if the fingernail doesn't work, give some Goo Gone a try!
