red is rad!

Word on high from method's latest Tweet is their limited edition hand wash scent, red currant, is here to stay! Asked on Twitter:

Q: " are you going to make currant a new scent?"
A: "{reply} yes it's becoming a permanent fixture! keep looking."

As you'll probably remember (unless you suffer from short term memory loss, in which case, I'm sorry. That must suck! I read once... wait, who are you again? Where am I?...) method did the same thing with their other limited edition scent, mandarin mango!

One possible thing to keep in mind is, at least for Target shoppers - Target as you know loves keeping the method products they carry streamlined. So as method continues to add new scents to their hand wash line, it's rather inevitable that old ones will be clearanced by Target (though method may continue to carry them on their online store!) So what are your thoughts? Stick with the old favorites, or roll out the new friends?

You can find method's other limited edition scents, waterfall and violet bloom, still hanging out on select Target store shelves! And I would make a bet we'll be seeing a new one before too long! (Let's hope it's sooner rather than later!)

real results

Earlier this week method Twittered this article titled "Did D.C.'s bag tax work?" and the results are mind-blowing!

"Yes, it did.

The District's 5-cent bag tax generated about $150,000 during January to help clean up the Anacostia River, even though residents have dramatically scaled back their use of disposable bags, according to a report city officials issued Monday.

In its first assessment of how the new law is working, the D.C. Office of Tax and Revenue estimated that food and grocery establishments gave out about 3 million bags in January. Before the bag tax took effect Jan. 1, the Office of the Chief Financial Officer had said that about 22.5 million bags were being issued each month in 2009.

That's an 82 percent reduction in the number of plastic bags and $150,000 for the city. Hopefully this'll encourage Santa Barbara and other wavering cities."

+

Did you get that? In one month they generated $150,000 for the city to use for (hopefully) eco-cleanup! And they went from giving out 22.5 million bags (and this is one city! That's the thing, imagine HOW many bags are given out each year when D.C. alone gives out 22.5 million!? That's freakin' insane) to 3 million bags.

And their reduction in the number of plastic bags given was: 82%. EIGHTY. TWO. PERCENT. That my friends, is what you call RESULTS. Seriously, I'm shocked. Imagine if every city did this? In fact, every state.

Screw the plastic bag industry. I hate that people might lose their jobs (I genuinely do.) But I've also had it up to the tip-top of my head with industries plodding forward like nothing's wrong cause "that's how they've always done it, and until there is a rule put into place we'll just do what we've always done Hell or high water - for better or worse." Sick of it. It's time companies, corporations, and industries were responsible for what they do and create! Something you'll be hearing much more about here on method lust, trust me.

82%. How about my hometown of Greensboro, NC tries this out. I mean, we are freakin' called GREENSboro. Maybe it's about time we started acting like it...

clean trekkies

Check out this hysterical image! method posted it recently via their method tweet (twitter!) and says:

"Stressful day for our french lavender hand wash... time to catch a mid day Star Trek Imax flick."

Man, I wish I could go see a movie in the middle of a work day. That french lavender has it easy!

it's citrus, miss cilantro is you're nasty

Look what I found at my local Big Lots last night! They've gotten some citrus cilantro aroma rings in! Looks like the method products continue to trickle into the stores! I'm going to do some more Big Lots loitering this weekend, and see what I can see!

I also noticed on one of method's lastest twitter methodtweets they mentioned to an advocate lusting for some more beach sage bloq lotion (and not being able to find it at Target. Hello, how long has bloq been discontinued? Do these people not roam up and down the method aisles each and every time they go to their local Target!? Do they not sniff, and re-sniff all the scents anytime they see a method bottle, even though by now they know what they smell like in their sleep?! Are they not obsessed to a degree that's simply not right?! I mean, that sounds crazily sane! What's up with these people? And how can I get some of what they're drinking, cause really, I need help... no, really. Help me, please. I had another method dream last night. Don't even get me started. The big method boss (I don't remember who it was, it was a "dream boss") was firing me from method, even though I didn't work for method (not even in the dream! Ha ha!) even after I helped them all look for some method products in this crazy warehouse, but they had to cut corners; but then I said something profound to him, and he realized there was no way he could lose my utter genius, so he unfired me from being fired from a position I was never hired to! Yay! Ah dreams... I remember my family came up to me in my dream, on the side of the street (cause that's where you always meet your family, just roaming the streets.) And they were trying to talk to me and I was all like "Psh, psh! I'm on the phone with method! Can't talk now!" oh, where was I? Oh yes.)

...to possibly check their local Big Lots. Now, I'm not sure about you, but I have yet to see any bloq products pop up at Big Lots; so either it's was simply a suggestion not necessarily based on current fact (did you like that sentence? I did, it sounds very lawyer-y, doesn't it! Ok, ok, anyway...) OR perhaps they know something we don't, and bloq products could be hitting our Big Lots shelves very soon! Time will tell!

method's feelin'

method home's updated their "feeling" statement at the top left side of their site. It now says:

"method is on twitter. Looking for more of the dirt? Follow us on twitter!"

But then again, we already knew that, didn't we? We're real smart here at method lust! You might say we're on the up and up! We know before the knowin' is known! You know? Ah yes, you do!

clean sweeps

+ Twitter is back! I'm still trying to figure out how to add multiple twitters to one blog (does anyone know?) As if I add mine to method lust, the methodtweet twitter goes bye-bye, and vice versa. Gah! I swear... I'll figure it out. For now, feel free to follow me at methodlust on twitter, and to follow method at methodtweet.

+ You know how when you go flying, the terrorist alert is always on code orange. Like, always. It never changes. Just to keep us all on heightened alarm? Huh, ever notice that? Well, method lust advocate spotlight is on code orange, people! Code orange! I repeat, take off your shoes, remove all personal possessions, grab a stick of Wrigley's Extra chewing gum, start dancing, no no, wait, that's a commercial... and send me your advocate spotlight! It's SO simple, I know you read this blog all the time! So let us know a little about YOU for a change! Go HERE, do now, send in. Done. Thanks, I really appreciate it! Otherwise, advocate spotlight will have to go away, and you don't want that, now do you? No, you don't. Guilt, it works every time.

+ I've now added a full listing of all method scents, to the right side bar. You'll be able to find all current, holiday, and scent heaven (retired) method scents! Why? Just cause I'm a nice kind of guy... with no life. (Who LUSTS method scents!)

clean sweeps

+ Peppermint vanilla is coming back for the holidays? Wha? That's the news according to a recent methodtweet twitter announcement! One exception, though, they say it's not going to be available everywhere. More information as I get it! The holidays aren't far away, look for some exciting news on the new method holiday line very soon!

+ Those in the southeast can enjoy a great discount at your local Harris Teeter grocer (I believe they're only in the southeast, but I could be wrong!)Right now, until October 21st, you can get 25% off all method products! That's a great deal! (And I even found a bottle of Eucalyptus Mint foaming hand wash when I was looking! So you might find some surprises, as well as great deals!)

+ method luster Kirby wrote in to say: "I raised a few eyebrows when I just pushed all the beach sage body wash straight into my cart. Yes I'm crazy! Do you have Grocery Outlets in your area?" Only you forgot to mention which grocer, Kirby! Do tell so I can let the others know! Grocery Outlet IS the name of the store chain! I've never heard of it (but wish we had them!) She found a big stash of bloq for only $2.00 each!

+ Concerning the new method smarty dish cubes, I've noticed the Targets that maintain special method aisle sections (where a majority of the method products are all located in one area, instead of their respective cleaning departments) are retaining the smarty dish line; while the Targets that simply had them on their endcaps during the debut, have discontinued them, and are not going to be carrying the cubes. SO, if you have a special method section in your Target, you should be safe on the dish cubes!

via methodtweet

(Think they had some method baby line shipped to them?)

tweet update

A couple items of note, coming from method's very own twitter, methodtweet (which you can catch right here on method lust, just check it out to the right in the side bar!)

+ The squeaky green laundry line is apparently making it's way/already at retail stores. So if you happen to see it, give us a shout! (I haven't seen it pop up in Target, yet.)

+ method cofounder Eric Ryan is featured in the Nov. issue of Dwell magazine as the guest decider on front-loading washers and dryers.

(Whew! Following this Tweet stuff can make your head spin?!? And I'm feeling sorta old, cause uh, I don't really "get it?" But it's cool, none the less!)

twitter-iffic!

method's gone twitter crazy! You can now check out method on their "methodtweet" twitter! I've actually added it to the side bar here on method lust, so you can keep up with all the twitter greatness method has to say! Check it out in the side bar, right before the method profiles listings! Tweet away! (Yeah, I have no idea what that means either, but it sounded cute and good, so I used it, ok? Maybe we could start a new slang! Instead of saying goodbye, we could say Tweet away! Or, or, maybe instead of saying have fun! We could say Tweet away! Yeah, ok, I didn't really think it was a good idea either.)

...Tweet away!
