psst-psst

Sounds like we've got some new goodies comin' around the corner soon! method's been making some hints on their official Facebook page over the last couple weeks! So far we've got:

+ a brand new version of smarty dish, featuring a re-size
+ a new dryer sheet product that will replace their current sheet line
+ and a relaunch for their hand sanitizer

They've been whispering about the new dryer sheet product for a while now. - Notice the word product. I wouldn't expect dryer sheets with this one, but rather something that would do the same job. Perhaps in the same style as Downy's dryer bar (but I'm not saying it'll be a bar. Unfortunately, I have no clue at the moment!)

People seem to have problems with the size of the smarty dish tabs fitting in their dish washer, so that's primarily why we're getting that. Otherwise I think they work great (and I don't have this size problem. Do you?)

And lastly, if they don't debut the hand sanitizer in a carry bottle my mind will be blown. Seriously, when do people use hand sanitizer the most. - On the go. (Mind you, I think hand sanitizer is n.a.s.t.y.)

+

What do you think? Excited for any of it? method has been awfully quiet for a long while (and so have you, oh great method lust one! I know, I know, my deepest apologies to all!) The last we've seen from them have been the spring/summer and limited edition hand wash scents, so it'll be good to see something new pop up! (Too bad it's not a method pop up store, in front of my house, where I can choose anything I want from method at my whim! Oh wait, I was dreaming again! Argh!)

what the?!

Traveling to Florida this weekend, I got my best friend to stop on by their local Big Lots. ALWAYS lookin' for a method find, I just had to go, you know? And what did I find! Wow! Well, take a look at the pic above. I had literally just ran out of my old method free + clear dryer sheets, and was waiting for the new wet dry go naked sheets to hit Target; when I found a box of the free + clear at his Big Lots! Score!

Then we were roaming around the health care aisles, and I think I literally did a "what the?!" double take as I spied TWO, not one, but TWO bottles of vintage method lavender + thyme body wash! This stuff has been discontinued forever! This was method's first foray into body washes. I lusted this stuff! Unfortunately, sniff sniff, one of the lids was cracked, and wouldn't stay tightly on the bottle. SO, wanting to save my suitcase from exploding method body wash bottles, I opted to only purchase the one good bottle, and had to leave the other bottle behind. Not unlike those horror flicks you see where one of your really good friends trips over a twig, breaking their leg, while the bad guy is running after you with his machete; and you attempt to save your friend, but he yells to you "Go! Run! Save yourself, it's too late for me..." Well, that's what it felt like, leaving that one lone sad broken bottle of rare method body elixir behind.

Really! I know, maybe a tad over dramatic, ok? But JUST a tad.

dry me baby

Anyone here a Prince fan? If so, you'll get that title. If not, it's a bad title, anyway. What can I say? All these titles start to get all hard to think up and stuff after a while, ok? Whew!

About the only new method products not to hit store shelves yet (to my knowledge; the other exception being the new waterflower, and refresh mint hand washes) is the new squeaky green laundry line (including the new dryer sheets you see pictured above. Go naked was tied up with previous engagements, and could not make the photo shoot. It apologizes for the inconvenience.) I JUST ran out of my old-school free + clear dryer sheets (yes, before the wet dry cloths) this weekend, so I'm gonna need some new scent free/go naked ones soon! I use the scent free ones on my clothing, while using the deliciously scented lavender + juniper and nectarine blossom on my sheets, and towels, etc. Mmm... and sniff, cause they're going away.

Anyone see this new line (which will also include the sweet water laundry detergent in it's brand new formula) let us know they've landed!

hsn yay!

It's an HSN kinda day! Check out this great pic from HSN, giving us a slightly better look at the new squeaky green laundry detergent, and the dryer cloths! (I'm not sure if that dryer cloth packaging is actually that big, as it looks smaller in the video. I think they just did it for the image visual.)

And I also just noticed something great on HSN! For only $12.99, you can order their ginger yuzu hand wash bundle! Ginger yuzu has been discontinued, so now's a great time to pick it up before it's completely gone! The bundle comes with:

+ 2 gel hand wash bottles
+ 1 foaming hand wash bottles
+ 1 34 oz. refill pouch

wet is (still) the new dry

method luster Capri sent me an email asking:

"Suddenly I can not find any dryer sheets in Canada. I checked 3 different Shopper's Drug Marts (where I normally get it) and none of them had any. I also checked a CDN tire with no luck. Do you know if they are being re-designed or something?

...I always worry about disappearing method products up here in Canada. I am actually partially planning a trip to a Target in Montana just to load up on Method items for my addiction. I even make method baskets up as presents. Those around me will love method... one way or another."

As far as I know, Capri, the wet dry sheets are still alive and kickin! I will tell you (in the case of doing a Target run for dryer sheets; though I'm sure you're going for all sorts of goodies!) the wet dry sheets have also, indeed, been missing from Target stores for quite some time now. They were clearanced near the beginning of 2008. Poo! But upon asking The Great Sarah! she did let me know that the wet dry sheets were here to stay! SO, unless something has changed, that's still the official method announcement.

I wonder often how method can continue to produce products that are clearanced from retail stores; and pretty much only available on their website. I always fear this means the downfall of that particular product. (I LUST their dryer sheets! I so wish they were more readily available.) Here's to hoping Target, and all the other retail stores, wake up!

keep on cleanin'

One section in the new Squeaky Green method book mentions how, after using your dryer sheets twice to, well, dry clothing with (leavin' them smelling great, and feeling oh so soft! Lavender + Juniper, Lavender + Juniper! Ahh...) you can use them around your house as a dust cloth! Who'da thought?

And then I go and find this, 20 household uses for used dryer sheets! Taken from Apartment Therapy:

"1. Use it to dust your television screen. The anti-static chemicals in a dryer sheet will help to repel dust and lint.

2. Use old dryer sheets to easily wipe up talcum powder, flour, and other messes of this type.

3. Used sheets usually have enough fragrance in them to freshen up other areas in your home. Stuff them in tennis shoes, place them in closets, in laundry hampers and in pieces of luggage -- anywhere your house needs a little "refreshment."

4. Run a sheet over a piece of thread when you're doing sewing tasks. The thread won't tangle up as easy.

5. Have pet hair on your clothing? Simply wipe it off with a used dryer sheet! Also works great on cloth furniture too!

6. Keep dust and other contaminants off your glass computer screen by carefully wiping it with an old sheet.

7. Did you purchase some old, musty books at a garage sale or thrift shop? Make them smell good again! Simply place the books in a sealed plastic bag with a used dryer sheet. Allow the bag to sit undisturbed for a day or two, then remove the contents. The musty smell will be gone!

8. Got a problem with mice? Find where they are entering your house and stuff the hole shut with a used sheet. Mice won't chew through the smelly material.

9. Place a used dryer sheet in the bag of your vacuum. Sweep your house, and, once you're done, the air will smell as fresh as your clothes do.

10. These wonders of the 70's are also said to repel mosquitoes as well as other annoying, flying insects. Don't rub it on you. Instead, stick a used sheet in your belt loop.

11. You can use dryer sheets to clean and polish the chrome on your vehicles.

12. Is there a build-up of soap scum on your glass shower door? Simply use an old dryer sheet to eliminate the mess.

13. Is the interior of your car or truck smelling a little stale? Forget the pine tree on a string! Place a few used dryer sheets under the seats of your vehicle instead!

14. Use sheets to clean and polish the glass lens of your eye glasses. They're not recommended for plastic lens, though!

15. Is your hair dry and full of static electricity? Gently wipe a used dryer sheet over your head to get rid of it.

16. Dryer sheets make great dusting cloths for your wooden furniture.

17. Help keep dust and other contaminants out of your house. Simply place a used sheet inside every furnace/AC register in your house. Make sure it covers the openings and replace once they are dirty.

18. Keep your window blinds clean longer by wiping them periodically with used dryer sheets. The anti-static properties of the product will actually help to repel dust and dirt.

19. Are your scissors not cutting as smooth as they should? Wipe the blades clean with a used dryer sheet to remedy this problem.

20. Used dryer sheets make great little cloths for quick shine ups in the bathroom and kitchen too. Just use one on each of your chrome faucets and see how brightly they shine!"

Some of these may need to be taken a little lightly? - Not sure. Let me know if you try them out, and they work!

one man reviews

wet dryer cloths One of the goals I wish to do on this blog is post reviews of various method products. These are simply my own personal reviews, and experiences with these products, so please make sure to give the item a try, no matter what my final thoughts are. You might end up feeling differently about the product!

My next review is for the wet dyer cloths! Let me just say, I love them! Here's a little information on the item from method: "Wet is the new dry. And that's not just a fashion statement. There's more substance to these trendsetters - renewable plant oils. Most dryer sheets contain animal tallow (usually beef/pig/mutton fat) that leaves a gummy residue. That's not only tacky, it's dirty. And we're against that. Instead, these wet cloths infuse plant-based softeners right into the fabric as it dries. So your clothes feel natural against your skin. Wet dryer cloths use a newly-developed sustainable technology that transfers softener directly into the fabric, instead of just leaving it on the surface. This gives you a natural softness that won't build up on your clothes."

I just love everything about this product! It really does make my clothing feel soft, and smell great. I'll usually use two sheets at one time for my bed linens, and towels. That really imparts the scent into the sheets, etc. Then I'll continue to use the same dryer sheets for the remainder of my wash; so I don't waste dryer sheets. They state you can use each one twice, anyway. I can't say enough about these! My favorite scents are lavender + juniper, and nectarine blossom! They get a five (out of a possible five.)

Unfortunately, Target has clearanced out the entire line of method wet dryer sheets. I'm not sure why they've done this (method assures me the product is going no where!) So for now you'll have to find an alternate retail store to pick them up, or shop online! I know just the place - methodhome.com

wet is the new dry

I know there appears to be a theme here at the start of this new blog, but I just wanted to make sure to keep everyone up with the latest. It would also appear Target has decided to clearance the wet dryer sheet method line. A little over a year ago, they clearanced the nectarine blossom scent from their shelves, in order to replace it with the go naked version. The actual product wasn't discontinued, Target just stopped carrying it.

Well suddenly I noticed they had clearanced all of the wet dryer sheet line, so I ran to my method source to see what was going on? New packaging? Discontinued product? No. It appears Target has just decided to fill up the shelves once full of method dryer sheet with more "Big Brand". (My source said they must have just gone wacky, cause the dryer sheets aren't going anywhere! And I noticed yesterday all the method dryer sheet price labels in some of the Target stores have been removed, and new "Big Brand" products have been placed in the space.) So pick them up while you can at Target, because after the clearance is over it looks like we'll have to find an alternative means to buying these (either through the method home website, or perhaps another retailer that carries these. I don't know of any others at the moment, but if you've seen them in another retail store let me know.) Thumbs down to Target for this decision.
