goombye

Looks like Target has started another round o' method clearances. This time around it's hand wash, hand wash, and oh yeah, hand wash. Like refresh mint or waterflower? Better head out and pick some up real quick like, because not only has the gel wash been phased out, but now the foaming is also on clearance (and for a fact, I know the gel will be discontinued by the end of the year from the method line; not sure if the foaming is now in the same boat. The body wash is safe, so no worries there!) The go naked gel hand wash had also been clearanced from Target a few weeks ago.

Along with those products, they're also kicking out the new creamy hand wash line (coconut + honey and cucumber + aloe.) I know method had some issues with their coconut + honey not being vegan, and they did at the time state they were going to reformulate it. So I'm not sure if this is the end for their creamy hand wash line once more, or if Target has just decided to drop it?

I believe this is all setting the stage for their upcoming kitchen hand wash line (announced in the New York Times!) which I think will be hitting shelves in September (if not earlier.)

Whew, and that's all the hand wash news I got at the moment! More information as I get it (or find it on the shelves!)

target a go-go

Well, everyone has been asking method what's up with the apparent lack of replenishment when it comes to their favorite dish soap being carried by Target! Many Target stores appear to be out, empty shelves, crying for more cute colored bottles! People just can't find their dishy suds! And with method announcing (via their recent Q&A chat session on Inc.com) a new dish soap in their lighthouse/laundry shaped bottle, the answers have finally been revealed!

Target has placed all the current method dish soap (mine still has it on the shelves) on clearance! And I gotta tell you (don't get all freaked out yet, as I don't know the answer) but I'm not sure if the current scents (cucumber, lavender and pink grapefruit) will make the move over to the new line, or not. From the pics we've seen, I'd say we can definitely expect one new scent! Other than that tidbit of knowledge, time will tell. method said we could expect to see the new detergent in September, but with Target already clearancing the current version out, I'd guess it might be more like mid-August!

Now, along with Target clearancing out the dish soap, they're also clearing out the go-naked gel hand wash, and all the multi-surface cleaning wipes! I'm not sure if we're about to see a new line of wipes as well, or if Target is just finished carrying them!

More information to come, don't ya know! In the meantime, I'd stock up just in case, OR there is always Lowe's Hardware for your method dish soap needs, until the new line hits the shelves!

long form clean sweeps (+ the contest winner!)

+ Run on over to your fav-OH!-rite Target, cause the new guest-star (stating it's a limited release scent on the back of the bottle) mandarin mango hand wash is hitting the shelves (Jamison, why do you never have faith in me? Ha ha!) I've got to say, when I gave it a good sniff in the store, I wasn't too impressed. (I'm not a big fruits/foods scent kind of guy. I lean more towards earthy, herby, and minty scents. And it really smelled like mango in the store, which wasn't a good thing for me! Eh, what can you do? I realize it says MANGO, but I was hoping it was more MANDARIN. So I snatched one up for the mandarin mango lust contest winner, but DIDN'T pick up a bottle for myself! Can you believe that?! Ok, so but then it was just calling to me at home, going "you need to give me a good try. Wash your hands!" "But my hands don't even need washed?" "But you want to know what it really smells like!" "But that's such a waste of water!" "Succumb!" and so, I did!

And I have to say, I was much more impressed with the scent in actual use, over just the sniff test in the store. The orange does come out much more during use! It sorta reminds me of orange Kool-aid. Is that a good thing, or a bad thing? I'll let you decide! But they should be in your local Target store soon, so keep a lookout! Cause they won't be around forever!

+ And speaking of mandarin mango hand wash! How about the big randomly chosen winner to our recent contest? And the winner IS... Kirby! Who had just purchased the lil' bowl blu! Yay, Kirby! Congrats! Drop me your mailing address, and one lustful bottle of mandarin mango hand wash shall be on it's way to you! (And never fear, I'm going to run out and pick up a new contest winner bottle! You won't be receiving my test bottle! Ha ha! I'm keeping it, now that I like it more than I had original thought I would!)

+ You can now find some .75 cent coupons stuck on select bottles of method daily shower spray! Check them out, and pick some up while the savings are good!

+ I've been seeing some random changes in packaging, including the term go-naked being removed from the spray cleaners (now it's just fragrance & dye free; and it's back to multi-surface, from all-surface. Unless these were old bottles? But they looked new to me. Really, I can't keep up anymore. method is constantly tinkering with their packaging? For better or worse, you let me know.) And they're changed the blue color on their lil' bowl blu bottles. Which I really got to say, not a fan! I love the subtle light blue, method! Bring it back. Their new thinking must be bright screaming colors, cause suddenly the blue blu bottle is this deeper bright blue; and some of their hand washes have almost gone neon (I'm talkin' to you, waterflower and refresh mint!)

+ Yo' method, I was standing in your aisle in Target today, and this older woman reached over to buy some lavender spray cleaner. Of course I started a conversation with her about method, and she told me her husband had recently bought some nasty Clorox spray cleaner that attacked her nose every time he used it; and she had started buying the method lavender and loved it (all her words!), and that's what she was sticking with from now on. Of course I was trying to get her to buy a bottle of the daily shower, with the coupon (which she thanked me for pointing out.) BUT she said to me "The thing I can't understand is why they will put out a big refill bottle for their daily shower (which she said she had at home) but nothing for the spray cleaners! They need the same thing in spray cleaners!") I know others would love this, so ding ding idea method, idea!

+ method luster Jamison (mentioned above!) let me in on a small secret that Target will place grey round stickers next to the shelf price stickers, meaning that particular item is being replaced, more than likely with an updated version. WELL, these grey stickers were next to most of his aircare line, which made him think the aircare line was indeed heading for a revamp! So he told me to check out my Targets. Well, Jamison, unfortunately, NONE of the three Targets I went to had grey stickers. But I know Target has this weird way of sort of doing things differently from store to store. So perhaps that's what your store does, and mine in this area does not. Time will, as usual, tell... but next time you're in Target, check the shelf price stickers next to the aircare, and see if you find any grey round stickers! And let us know! Thanks Jamison, and all you advocates!

+ And finally, who else has recieved this rather secretive email from method recently:

"hello fellow person against dirty, congratulations you have won (drum roll please)….a box! we want to give you a heads up that you will be receiving a special treat for being such a loyal method advocate. it will be in a box that is shaped similar to a mini pizza box. the contents inside won't be quite as tasty, although they will smell delish. so when you get it make sure to: 1. feel special, 2. read carefully, 3. spread the method love anyway you know how (hand deliver/ flickr/ youtube/ facebook/ tweet/ blog.) 4. tell us how you did it on method's facebook fan page! sorry to be so cryptic but we think you will be pleased with the surprise!" - Curiouser, and curiouser... (and excited to get it, whatever "it" is!)

boost it!

method's own people against dirty blog has a great laundry tip! (And therefore, I thought I'd share it! Yay!)

"Looking for a whitening boost for your laundry? One of the cool tricks that one of our people against dirty discovered is an alternate use for Smarty Dish, our phosphate and bleach-free dishwasher detergent – a laundry booster! We thought it was a cool idea and decided to try it out ourselves. Indeed, it whitened our whites…..

+ 1. Throw a Smarty Dish tablet (can be either Go Naked or Pink Grapefruit) into the drum of your washer (even in an HE machine), then add your method laundry detergent as you would normally.

+ 2. Make sure to only do this with warm or hot water wash cycles. The tablet won’t dissolve completely in cold water.

+ 3. Use 1 for a regular load, 2 for a big or nasty load, or remedial whites.

+ 4. Run your washer as you would normally and dry as you normally do, too. Perhaps give line drying a try, as it uses nature’s energy to dry your clothes!

Smarty Dish is safe for colors, too. It also boosts performance on food and outdoorsy stains (grass & dirt).

Let us know how this works by emailing info@methodhome.com"

remain calm

Slight Update So, while I don't have any specific news from method to tell you yet (sometimes even they don't know, and have to do a little research! Who knew?) I will say that as of this moment only one of the three Targets around me have the listed method items on clearance. But as I've said before, every Target store runs on it's very own clearance schedule (something I've always thought was mighty weird.) So, I have a feeling that sooner or later, the others will catch up. If you happen to see a bunch of method products go on clearance, let method lust know!

I don't think this is a case of Target no longer carrying method products; more so they're just clearing a large group of them out. BUT that's never a good thing (less opportunities to find the items!) I did see that white tea body wash was part of the clearance as well (I missed that one on my list below) and it looks like the baby line is safe. More info. as I get it!

+

Alright everyone. Breathe deeply. We'll get through this together, I promise.

Ok, on my latest trip to Target, I've discovered the retail store seems to be decimating their method line! Clearance stickers out the yahzoo! I'm talking the omop, omop all purpose floor pad, omop wood pad, omop sweeper duster cloths, glass, granite and stainless steel microfiber cloths, go naked dish soap, go naked and pink grapefruit smarty dish cubes, almond flower creamy hand wash, almond flower body wash, squeaky green kids crisp apple body wash, fuzzy peach body wash (I didn't get a chance to check out the baby line), almond flower and white tea soap bars, and more! All on clearance! Gah!

What's going on here? I'm checking with method and will soon have a report back to let you know if these are going away at Target (forever?!), or making room for updated product (which would be the case with the dish cubes, I'm betting, since they're in new pouch packaging.) More information as it becomes available (cue news bleeps here!) These are only on first markdown at my local Target (but markdowns vary store to store.)

clean sweeps!

A couple items of quick interest for all you lusters!

+ Melissa let me know that drugstore.com is having a sale on method's squeaky green baby line!

"Thought you might be interested to know that drugstore.com is currently having a sale on Method baby products - buy one get one free! I picked up two of the Rice Milk & Mallow washes, I've been waiting for them to go on sale but they never seem to, so I jumped on this." (FYI - It appears the sale is only good on the rice milk + mallow scent.)

PS - She's also started a green blog, so I thought I'd give it a quick shout out! You can check it out at Thrifty In Green!

+ method lust reader Jamison found some new goodies at his local Big Lots recently!

"...It appears that Big Lots has a plethora of the Wood For Good, Go Naked and Granite wipes in the old containers for $2.50. THAT'S A STEAL!"

all washed up?

UPDATE method "development dude" Fritz dropped a comment letting us know:

"No Smarty Dish demise, folks. Info from Target as of today is that they are pleased with the product. There *are* some endcaps going away though."

Colleen Reilly let's us know that while smarty dish cubes are alive and well, if your Target is discontinuing the product, there is a slight possibility that particular store may not carry the item after the discontinued product is gone.

Great news as far as I'm concerned (minus Target randomly discontinuing and not carrying!) Yay! Thanks Fritz for the udpate! In the meantime, run out and pick up some cheap cubes!

+

Ok, what is going on here? method lust reader and ever vigilant Netta sent me an email today letting me know the new method smarty dish cubes were on clearance at Target.

Yes, you read right, clearance! So, having no life, er, I mean wanting to stay up on all things method, I ran out to Target to check the damage myself. And there they were, still on the end caps proudly displaying their dish cleaning debut, only with giant Target clearance stickers on them. (Ok, they weren't really giant stickers, but they felt like it!)

This is exactly what happened with the first dish cubes! (Well, even THEY lasted longer than the smarty dish!) They were at Target for a while, then poof, gone. No more cubes. I just can't believe Target didn't even give them a chance. I'm hoping my local grocery stores will/are carrying them, as they tend to carry the dish soap, and laundry items. Otherwise, like many other method products, we'll only have method's site to make our further smarty dish purchases.

I'm seriously thinking up a Target mass email challenge. I'll post more on it later. It's time we were heard! In the meantime, I'd run out and pick up your cubes before they're so long, goodbye. Netta's Target already has them on second clearance, while mine is only on first.

PS - I really think method needs to plow forward with getting their products into more stores. Target used to really rock, and while they still sorta do, they seem very "eh" towards method's stuff for the most part (well, that's my own personal opinion, at least.) I guess as time goes by, and people become more green, they'll be able to get more of a foot hold in other stores; but for now it's just sad to see a product get discontinued at Target, because many times that means it's not long for this world (at least from past experiences.) Let's hope that's not the case with the smarty dish cubes, for sure!

But I'm just hoping other stores start carrying more of a full line, instead of the "this and thats" many of them currently do. I have to laugh sometimes, at how many options for shopping and stores we have available today, and yet how watered down, and "everyone sells the same stuff they know everyone else will buy" we get faced with each time we go shopping. If I want my frickin' Dawn dish soap, guess what Target, I can get it in about nine zillion other stores. This is the freakin' land oh plenty and giant buildings full of "buy me, buy me's" (sadly!) Variety should be the spice of life, not the occasional exception to the rule. (freakin' AND frickin', all in one post! Yes! Am I a little bitter? I can't tell...)

+

In slightly positive Target news, they currently have the hand washes, and moisture body wash line (olive leaf, almond flower, and white tea) on sale! As well as the baby + kids squeaky green body line. The hand wash varies (refills and regular bottles) between a quarter to fifty cents savings; but the body wash line gets a big sale! They currently have the $7.49 body line down to the same price as the new marine naturals line. All baby + kids, body wash, and bar soap is currently priced at $5.99 for the sale! Run out and pick some up!

method's feelin'

method home's updated their "feeling" statement at the top left side of their site. It now says:

"method is in the Windy City. we're detoxing Chicago. - come and check us out!"

+

Also on their method home site, the smarty dish cubes have been added to their store, and are a focus on their home page!

why so smart?

Did you get your email recently from method? It was chock full of goody information, including their new smarty dish cubes! In case you missed out on the email, you can also read up on it on their people against dirty blog!

"Here at Method there’s a bunch of stuff we like: happy hours, pretty colors and smells, innovative ideas … the list goes on. And as you know, there’s also stuff we don’t like. Phosphates and chlorine bleach are two of those things. They are also two ingredients – especially phosphates – that a lot of other companies include in their dishwasher detergents.

When we introduced you to Lil’ Bowl Blu, our toilet bowl cleaner, back in February, we told you a little bit about phosphates. Phosphates in our water supply contribute to algal blooms, which deprive fish and other water dwellers of needed oxygen. That’s dirty. Two counties in Washington banned the use of phosphates this year, with the rest to follow in 2010, and many other states are looking into the issue as well.

So to answer our own question, Smarty Dish is smart – no, brilliant! – because it gets the job done in your dishwasher without anything nasty you don’t want dirtying up our water supply. It comes in pre-measured tablet doses that fit neatly in your dishwasher’s detergent compartment, so no more worrying about the dreaded “overpour.”

And speaking of smart, Smarty Dish passed quite a few tests before we decided that it made the grade..."

Head on over to read the rest!

+

And speaking of smarty dish, the go naked ones FINALLY made it to my Target! (They've had the pink grapefruit for a while, now!) Yay! (I say yay a lot, don't I? Yay!)

crazy people have more fun

I just found Ej's blog, Crazy People Have More Fun (and they do, too! I should so know!) after taking a peek at my method lust traffic sources; and discovered this great post she did on method, and go naked!

"My obsession to these products is no secret - I am a relentless in my pursuit of converting people! My sister finally caved and purchased her first bottle of the Best in Glass window cleaner, and my Mother in Law is hooked on Wood For Good.

How was I captured? Lisa introduced me to the Go Naked All Purpose Spray. One sniff (or should I say lack of sniff) and I was hooked. I went home and Googled it and after devouring every piece of info I could find; I headed off to Shoppers Drug Mart to stock up. Canada is suffering from a grossly inadequate supply of method products. We are limited to the cleaning products - no body care(okay, okay - there are a few of the hand soaps kicking around). You can buy it from the web site if you want to pay a fortune for shipping(tsk tsk method - $18 shipping is ridiculous!!!) Target is the place where it is at!!!! So if you live close make a run for the border! I've listed Canadian retailers below.

Okay so onto Go Naked!..."

Head on over to read the rest!

Oh, and she even gives me a sweet little shout out! "In case you are in full addiction mode like myself - let me lead you to the blog of all method blogs - method lust - yes there are more people like me out there ;-) Nathan has the inside scoop on everything method past and present!" Thanks, Ej!

dry me baby

Anyone here a Prince fan? If so, you'll get that title. If not, it's a bad title, anyway. What can I say? All these titles start to get all hard to think up and stuff after a while, ok? Whew!

About the only new method products not to hit store shelves yet (to my knowledge; the other exception being the new waterflower, and refresh mint hand washes) is the new squeaky green laundry line (including the new dryer sheets you see pictured above. Go naked was tied up with previous engagements, and could not make the photo shoot. It apologizes for the inconvenience.) I JUST ran out of my old-school free + clear dryer sheets (yes, before the wet dry cloths) this weekend, so I'm gonna need some new scent free/go naked ones soon! I use the scent free ones on my clothing, while using the deliciously scented lavender + juniper and nectarine blossom on my sheets, and towels, etc. Mmm... and sniff, cause they're going away.

Anyone see this new line (which will also include the sweet water laundry detergent in it's brand new formula) let us know they've landed!

more squeaky green laundry details

Yeah, I really couldn't come up with much of a title for this post, can you tell? I'll work harder next time, I promise (but then, don't I always let you down with my promises. Yes, I do. So really, don't even believe me. Ok? It'll save all our feelings down the road.)

So mixed news about the new squeaky green laundry detergent and dryer sheets. I bet method gets a little tired of me complaining about new products, as we're so used to the old ones, it's sort of shock when things come in and replace them, but here I go. Ha ha!

The new laundry detergent and dryer sheets will come in free + clear (I can't believe they haven't named these go naked yet, since it seems there is some streamlining happening within method's product lines), sweet water, and rice milk + mallow (baby). Here's the bad news, this new line will completely replace the current laundry AND dryer sheet lines. The detergent isn't really hit hard, but those poor awesome dryer sheets! Lavender + juniper, nectarine blossom, water lily + aloe! Sniff sniff. It would appear now, if you wanted a scented dryer sheet from method, sweet water is the only way to go (unless you wanna smell like marshmallows, which mind you might rock, but isn't really my thing.) I lust to death the lavender + junipers dryer sheets! And like a fellow luster said on here a couple days ago, he's not too keen (I'm so 1950s!) on the sweet water scent (and I gotta go along with him, while I don't have a problem with that scent, and it's actually method's "signature" scent; in fact they've trademarked the name sweet water; I'm just not a fan of using that scent in my home, or on my clothes.)

Looks like (for the moment at least) we'll have to simply stock up on the old dryer sheets from method home! I'm really not trying to poo-poo the new line, far from it; but I'm just worried a bit about the reduction in scent choices going on in some of their lines.

Those folks over on smartplanet.com have a review of method's go naked all-surface spray cleaner (just FYI, this is a UK review!)

"This is not one of those all-purpose surface cleaners you spray onto an infested worktop, leave for a second and "Voila!" it all sparkles. It's more one of those sprays you have to leave on the surface for a couple of seconds and scrub with a sponge to get the grime off.

We actually don't mind scrubbing, though, since it reassures us that the product isn't packed with toxic chemicals. We like that it leaves the surface degreased and feeling clean as if we had just cleaned it with water and a bit of non-foaming washing up liquid. No nasty, synthetic or chlorine-infused smells hang over us after a good clean around the house -- just a slightly sweet smell, which comes from the surfactant and which we don't mind.

The ingredients look fine -- especially considering this is a cleaning product: corn and coconut derived surfactants, soda ash, potassium hydrate and purified water. The potassium hydrate could potentially be a baddy and harm aquatic life, but it only represents 0.1 per cent of the product and reacts with the other ingredients in a harmless way (method disclosed the recipe to us, but we've promised not to publish it).

Method makes a big deal out of the 'cradle to cradle' design -- originator Michael Braungart checks every single product before they go into circulation. The company also works with its factories in the US and UK to be energy, water and material efficient and to make sure its labour standards are up to scratch.

Although there are no vegan or vegetarian labels on method's products, it does operate a no animal testing policy and it is investing in alternative, animal-friendly testing methods. This earned co-founders Adam Lowry and Eric Ryan the joint award of PETA's Person of the Year in 2006.

At £3 for 828ml (£3.63 per litre) it's marginally less than Ecover's Squirteco all purpose cleaner, which is £3.98 per litre from Ocado. But whereas Ecover's Squirteco can be refilled, to the benefit of environment and wallet, the Go Naked bottle can just be recycled (the pump cannot). However, as a major milestone, this particular method product comes in a bottle made from recycled plastic and according to Lowry, method plans on introducing recycled bottles for the whole range, which we like the sound of.

Despite the fact we really, really like method and everything the company stands for, we tested the Go Naked surface cleaner against baking powder mixed with water and the resemblance was uncanny, which is obviously not a good incentive to spend £3 on a cleaning product. But the bottle makes cleaning way more convenient than spreading baking soda all over the house, so we would still recommend it.

dishin'

Some reviews are coming in for method's new smarty dish cubes! Check'em:

"A Cleaner Clean For Dishes
Method's new Smarty Dish dishwasher detergent will be available in August at Target, sells for $6 for 20 one-load tablets and comes in both "pink grapefruit" and fragrance-free "go naked."

Those pre-measured dishwasher detergent tablets always seem to perform less than perfectly, leaving a bit of gritty residue behind.

But Method's new Smarty Dish dishwasher detergent "doses" completely washed away any doubts. The dishes sparkled.

Better yet, this new detergent contains no bleach or phosphates, which can spur algae growth, depriving fish and water plants of oxygen and contributing to water pollution. Smarty Dish is made from naturally derived biodegradable ingredients — and it works.
- courant.com"

+

"We tried it: Smarty Dish
Leslie Crutchfield / The Detroit News

Method will soon add a new dishwasher detergent to its roster of eco-friendly products called Smarty Dish. The tablets look like an oval-shaped version of SweeTarts candy, so you must keep the dish detergent away from toddlers.

We liked how well Smarty Dish thoroughly cleaned the most stubborn stains from dishes and pots and pans. Method says the tablets are made with naturally derived, biodegradable ingredients that clean without putting phosphates and bleach down the drain, which harms the environment

Method will put Smarty Dish tablets in stores this fall.

in the pink

OH, look! A real image (not a drawing) of the new method smarty dish detergent packaging! Cool! Coming this fall!

Monday, June 23, 2008

what's in a name?

Just a quick question, where do you think method got the new "smarty dish" name for their new dish cubes from? Is it a take off on smarty pants? Or perhaps it's just a "smarty dish" cause it's eco-friendly? Am I missing something? I really do think it's adorably cute, but uh, don't really get it? Thoughts!

naked notes

Some time back I did a quick post on how method lust reader Steve had been using the method go naked spray cleaner and dish soap for carpet cleaning and clothing spot treatment! So I decided to give go naked a try, and see what resulted! I haven't yet purchased the dish soap for the spot cleaning (I tried the spray cleaner, to be honest, and wasn't that happy with the results. But perhaps that's because he said dish soap, and not spray cleaner, for spot treating your clothing! I'll listen from now on, I promise!)

But I've given the spray cleaner a run for it's money, using it to replace my carpet spot treatment cleaner. I have two cats and they like to make messes, let me tell you! In fact, I have this nice WHITE shag rug (ok, it's more like creamy white now, cause I didn't do the no shoes rule, shame on me - and how do you clean shag rugs, other than spot treating, anyway?? I don't think it's possible) in my living room. And I came home last night to, well, a mess on it. As in cat = barf. Not in one spot. - Four. I was not happy. (Oh, and this has happened before, but not for a while.) So, in between my three hour Lost fest on tv, I decided to give the go naked cleaner a try!

And you know what, I'm impressed! Do I think method could just slap "carpet cleaner" on the label and be done with it, nah. But for a simple ole' all-surface cleaner to do as well as my carpet cleaner (that costs more, and is bad for the environment, and I swear has bleach in it?) I'm pleasantly surprised! It took a little more elbow grease to get out the big stain; I had to spray the main spot three times total, let it sit for about five or ten minutes, then I took this small bristle brush I have for cleaning, and just started "scrubbing" at the spot, using circle patterns; and then I'd pat it with a towel afterwards each time. And by the third time, wow, it was gone! I think we all want to be able to just spray something, and poof it's gone; no actual work (I know I want that!) But I think the point of natural products are they are better for the environment, but might require a little more gusto on your part (even though method tries hard to make them work as easily as possible!) but I think I'm working to get that in my head as time goes by! Stop being so lazy, and do a little bit more, the result is great and it's better for you!

So end point, I'd recommend you giving the go naked all-surface spray a try next time you want to get a spot up off your carpet! (Definitely use go naked, though; no colors, no scents.) Let me know how it goes!

givin' naked a try

So I just did something I wouldn't have thought I'd do. I just went out and bought some method go naked spray cleaner!

You see, I buy method not only for the fact that they are environmentally friendly, and have gorgeous packaging; but for the scents as well. And when go naked first debuted, I was like "why would I buy that, when I can get all these great fragrances?" While of course realizing it was more for people with possible allergies to scents, etc. (And also while realizing that I do buy method's free + clear laundry detergent, so uh, yeah... don't ask me.)

But then fellow method luster Steve mentioned something great last week!

"i buy go naked dish soap for spot treating my laundry (no fear of staining from soap color.) pre-treating with dish soap is the best. just apply a drop and rub it into the stain. and i always wash with cold water since heat sets most stains (and it saves energy, of course.) it works on every stain from blood to grease spots. (you should let the soap set on the stain for a few days if the garment has already been washed.) Another good tip - surface cleaner is great for removing stains in carpeting."

Really? Removing stains in carpeting! Huh! Well, you know what, I have messy, messy cats (have I said that before? Hmm...) and some of the rugs I do have, well, they need help. I do use carpet stain remover spray; but more on that in a moment. Also I have this great Ikea couch that comes with a removable, washable cover. BUT it's such a pain to dry (hang dry, at least a day or so) and to put back on (and the perfectionist person in me will usually iron the cover after I've put it on the couch, I don't want a wrinkly couch! So, uh, yes I need mental help; and yes, it takes some work!) And the cats will get stains on the couch, or I'll accidentally spill a drop of spaghetti sauce on it (uh, cream/white colored couch and eating spaghetti while watching tv, not a good combination.) So I'm going to give the go naked spray a try on my couch this evening, and see what happens. I tried this with my carpet spray, and uh, it totally bleached the color right out of the cream cover. AND I had to throw it away. So I'm thinking go naked will do a MUCH better job! I'll let you know!

+ Also, I noticed over the weekend our Target has gotten the new wipes packaging with the pop-tops in! They're really cool! Let me know how the new packaging works out when you give them a try (as I'm just not a wipes type of guy.) Huh, that rhymed!
