sparkling new!

method has a new website! Have you checked it out? Possibly the two biggest changes come in the form of advocates being able to create a profile (mainly for the people against dirty and shopping sections of the site) and update/change that profile (something that wasn't possible with their previous site.) Even more awesome is they've teamed up with drugstore.com as their new shipping/store partner - which should result in much more reasonable shipping costs (a constant complaint of advocates far and wide!) A complete list of details/changes are available on method's official people against dirty blog.

So, have you checked out the new site yet? If so, what do you think? Pros, cons! Speak your mind!

spring cleaning

Looks like method's done a little spring cleaning to their site when we weren't looking! They've simplified the navigation (method | shop products | join people against dirty) and added some new sections to the shop area: what's new, kits + gifts, and schwag! (And retained air care, which I find VERY odd.)

They also raised their free shipping minimum from $50 to $75. Thoughts?

Check it out next time you're over on methodhome.com!

clean sweeps

+ method's got themselves a sparkly new website! Make sure you check it out over at www.methodhome.com! Some of the navigation is a little "hidden" (but I do sincerely like it! - example: to get to the store, click on the word products in their title "method creates products for people against dirty.") People against dirty takes you to their blog, etc. It takes a little searching, but once you figure it out, it's a snap!

This also makes me feel the aircare line is moreso heading for a revamp, rather than a discontinued status. The product line is second only to their home cleaning line (with 48 products), so let's keep our fingers crossed! Let me know what you think of the new site design!

Oh, And right now, you can get yourself a shiny new $1.00 coupon off of their new site! Whee!

+ Looks like Target is clearancing both the stainless steel "steel for real", and the granite "daily granite" wipes. Pick some up, before they're gone from Target!

+ Next time you pick up a bottle of method's refresh mint or waterflower foaming hand wash, you might notice it's gotten a bit more colorful. I'm not sure if this is a quality control issue, or method just decided to brighten some of their colors; but the green and pink is REALLY green and pink now! I noticed this during a recent trip to Target. Random, I know. But hey, I'm a random kind of guy!

ho ho ho flashbacks

Remember those times when you were a child, and you dreamed of all the wonderful trinkets, toys, and things dear ole' Santa Claus would bring you? Remember that magical feeling you used to get as Christmas and the holidays crept ever closer? Twinkling lights, hot cocoa, candy canes, Christmas carols, big packages, glittery wrapping paper (well, my mom still uses glittery wrapping paper! I think it's her way of trying to be "ok with me." Glitter = gay, well, at least in her books. Ok? And really, it's a sweet gesture (cause psst, glitter = gay. Well, ok, I may be biased!) Anywho, remember all those snowy, wintery, precious Holiday moments of our childhood?

And how now, as adults, we pretty much spend most of our time trying to relive our holiday past! Cause, seriously, life just blows as adults! Oh, what, sorry, am I bitter? Never.

Well, in much the same way (minus the blowing part. Cause method still rocks our world!), let's take a stroll back in method time! And check out two previous website images oh so long ago! Above is a shot showcasing the debut of their peppermint vanilla, hollyberry, and mistletoe line! Yeah, this image is old! Like when you were four years old, old. Except in method years. Which is more like cat years. Cause they're not that old, yet. (Well, they're more than four years old, but oh, you know what I mean!)

...And does anyone remember these? Holiday bundles promoting their peppermint vanilla, and hollyberry scents. They came in cute wire sink caddies! All packed up in adorable packaging, with a little candle (what their candles used to look like), or hand lotion. The copy reads:

"Fruitcake is not a biodegradable gift - Actually one of our summer interns checked on this so it's almost definitely incorrect. We're sending the fruitcake people a method sink set as a peace-offering. If you want to get on someone's good side, send them a set as well. Holiday sets are available in stores. The peppermint vanilla sink set is available online. Includes hand wash, hand lotion and a sink caddy."

Yeah, get this, way back when, they had two holiday scents, in hand lotion, a candle, and hand soap. NOW don't you feel special with all the scent and product choices you get during the holidays? I know I do!

Look for more flashback holiday method throughout the next couple weeks! When did you first discover holiday method? And what holiday scent/product was it you first purchased? - Ho ho ho!

we've cleaned up our address...

Guess what's here! methodlust.com! Give it a try. No more .blogspot! Now it's so easy for you to spread the word! Just tell your friends, family, strangers on the street, the guy the gives you weird looks on the subway: www.methodlust.com!

As the Kool-Aid man would say, "Oh, Yeah!" Now, never fear, the old blogger address will also still route you to your favorite method blog! But this new address will make it so much easier!

(Thank you, thank you, thank you Rebecca Rodgers for the lustful giving donations!) I be so excited!

mashup method

Has anyone else noticed this as of late? If you head over to method's site, and view the "browse all" items listing, you get this mashup of all the method products (see pic above.) I swear I recall them being in proper order previously (laundry detergents, candles, aircare, etc.) But now it's a candle, then a laundry detergent, a t-shirt, etc. Really odd?

What does everyone think of this? Does it make it more fun to shop on method's site, or more confusing? I realize if you select a specific room/area, or scent/color, things get a little less WHEE! But I usually like to view it as "browse all" so I can easily see everything that is available? Perhaps it's something they're still working on?

Thoughts?

new site debut

While method home's new site has been up for a while now; they've been adding pieces and parts to it here and there (and possibly everywhere!) but have finally made the official announcement on their own people against dirty blog!

"Ever envious of the products side of the business, which regularly enjoys packaging and design makeovers, methodhome.com has finally gotten what amounts to its own fancy, new party dress. After almost a year of planning, we’ve finally launched our new website.

Some cool things we’ve added since the old site:

+ A killer new homepage. We added a carousel mostly because we can never decide which stories we want to talk about…so, we decided to tell them all.

+ 3 ways to browse the method collection. Whether you know exactly what you’re looking for, or you’re new to method, finding exactly what product you’re looking for should be easy as pie.

+ New e-commerce experience. We call it a mini-cart. Nothing revolutionary other than a lot fewer clicks!

+ Tidbits. Basically the pop-ups you find on product pages that give you a little more info on a particular topic. The tidbits we have are a bit slim now but eventually start looking for video and audio clips embedding in them throughout our site.

Some things that are still coming along:

+ Search capabilities.

+ Breadcrumbing. Think Little Red Riding Hood…. wait, maybe that’s Hansel and Gretel. Basically, it’s a way of helping you know where you are on the site at all times. Like a trail of breadcrumbs… minus the small, furry woodland animals that eat them up.

+ More, more, more content - including interviews and in-depth content from our design and sustainability experts at method.

I’m not sure any of us figured on it taking quite so long but alas, here it is and now we can begin the real work –putting interesting stuff on the site. While the site will never actually be done, we thought we’d take this opportunity to see how you like. What do you love? What do you hate? What would you like to see added? We’d love to hear your comments. So, post away."

(Psst, tell'em they need to add a link to method lust! Ha!) Love the new site guys! Great job!

site tips

A quick method home site tip! I love the cool drop down menu system they have on the new site, and one bonus feature is the "special" tab, which lists limited edition items, online exclusive, refill and swag (non-cleaning products).

If you click on the online exclusive tab, this will show you all the items that method has recently discontinued in retail stores, but are still available on their site, until quantities run out! That way you'll easily know which products you should stash up on before they're gone! Now, this isn't scientific (I haven't been TOLD this is what the online exclusive tab is for) but if you click it, you'll notice all products highlighted have "left the building", so to speak. So I'm stickin' with my hypothesis! (Did I just use the word hypothesis? Wow! I am smart!)
