big deal!

Do you like a deal? Cause I like a deal! And have I got a deal for you! Right now (only until June 25th! My birthday! They knew. They really knew! I knew they knew!) for every three method products you purchase (and this includes hand wash, dish soap, spray cleaner, and other products) you get one method product free (most of the selected deal items in the stores are around $2.99 each!) That's right, by three, get one free! It sounds like right now is the perfect time to stock up on your favorite method goodies!

And if that wasn't enough, Target also has a really weird "deal" going on with method's body wash at the moment. Many advocates have mentioned that their local Targets have clearanced out the method body wash; and it appears, at least from what I've been told, even method isn't entirely sure what's going on, but there are still around 800 Target stores that carry the body wash. My local Targets still have them on their shelves, and this past week they did something that even made me do a double take. They changed the refresh mint and sea minerals body wash to a new permanent price of $3.48! - Not on clearance, not temporary. But what's even more out there, the waterflower body wash still has the old $4.99 price. So don't even ask, I have no clue, but if you still see method body wash on your Target shelves, it might be a great time to also snatch some up to stash away for a showery day!

washed up?

Quick question, method lust peeps! I've been hearing quite a few advocates mention the fact that method's marine naturals body wash has been disappearing from their store shelves, never to return. In fact, a couple people have even suggested Target has clearanced the item completely! So my question is, are you having trouble finding method's body wash in sea minerals, waterflower, or refresh mint scents? Or is your Target store still stocked and dandy? Let us know!

goombye

Looks like Target has started another round o' method clearances. This time around it's hand wash, hand wash, and oh yeah, hand wash. Like refresh mint or waterflower? Better head out and pick some up real quick like, because not only has the gel wash been phased out, but now the foaming is also on clearance (and for a fact, I know the gel will be discontinued by the end of the year from the method line; not sure if the foaming is now in the same boat. The body wash is safe, so no worries there!) The go naked gel hand wash had also been clearanced from Target a few weeks ago.

Along with those products, they're also kicking out the new creamy hand wash line (coconut + honey and cucumber + aloe.) I know method had some issues with their coconut + honey not being vegan, and they did at the time state they were going to reformulate it. So I'm not sure if this is the end for their creamy hand wash line once more, or if Target has just decided to drop it?

I believe this is all setting the stage for their upcoming kitchen hand wash line (announced in the New York Times!) which I think will be hitting shelves in September (if not earlier.)

Whew, and that's all the hand wash news I got at the moment! More information as I get it (or find it on the shelves!)

even better!

Just noticed today that Target has Price Cut (and not temporarily) the method body wash to $4.99 (from $5.99!) I'm lustin' that, let me tell you! (Thought you might want to know! If not, well, then, just go about your day... I won't cry.)

clean sweeps

+ method's got themselves a sparkly new website! Make sure you check it out over at www.methodhome.com! Some of the navigation is a little "hidden" (but I do sincerely like it! - example: to get to the store, click on the word products in their title "method creates products for people against dirty.") People against dirty takes you to their blog, etc. It takes a little searching, but once you figure it out, it's a snap!

This also makes me feel the aircare line is moreso heading for a revamp, rather than a discontinued status. The product line is second only to their home cleaning line (with 48 products), so let's keep our fingers crossed! Let me know what you think of the new site design!

Oh, And right now, you can get yourself a shiny new $1.00 coupon off of their new site! Whee!

+ Looks like Target is clearancing both the stainless steel "steel for real", and the granite "daily granite" wipes. Pick some up, before they're gone from Target!

+ Next time you pick up a bottle of method's refresh mint or waterflower foaming hand wash, you might notice it's gotten a bit more colorful. I'm not sure if this is a quality control issue, or method just decided to brighten some of their colors; but the green and pink is REALLY green and pink now! I noticed this during a recent trip to Target. Random, I know. But hey, I'm a random kind of guy!

now with more foam!

You know, somedays I'm just not sure what Target is up to. In case you haven't been roaming the aisles of your favorite method store (unlike the insane person that is me. Seriously, I should have some special Gold Target card or something, just for the amount of time I spend shopping there. Or or, maybe I could get some free popcorn and a coke at the food counter with each visit! Or well, I don't know, how about a free item with every purchase! Hmm... I'm liking these ideas!)

It seems that Target has done a rather big shake up with their aisles recently. Rearranging all sorts of areas, moving items to new areas, etc! One of the (unfortunate) results to this happens to be quite a few clearanced method products. It would appear they're no longer carrying the method omop, or any of the cleaning cloths; but have retained their floor cleaners. The almond flower creamy body wash and hand wash is gone from Target (while one store has white tea restocked in their new aisle layout; and another one now only carries olive leaf. See, see, weird?!) And quite a few other items seem to have been removed from Target's shelves. The lucky thing is, many of these products can be found at your favorite Lowe's Hardware store! So fear not! (And of course, on methodhome.com!)

However, one good thing that seems to have come out of this shake up is, Target now carries method refresh mint and waterflower in foaming hand wash (previously they only carried the gel)! So if you like these scents, run out and pick yourself up a bottle or two!

diy foaming action!

Did you know that method makes a refresh mint foaming hand wash?! Probably not, since I've NEVER seen it in stores! But yes, they actually do (and you can purchase it on their method home site.)

But hey, why not get a little creative! (After all, what do you have to do this weekend? Ah, another Saturday full of chunky monkey ice cream tubs and sappy chick flicks, is it? I know, I know. Well, not this week, yo!) How about this weekend, you take a little time to make your own method foaming hand wash!

Our beloved Sarah Stich sent along this amazing, and awesome tip, via methodtweet! And just in case you might have missed it:

"Hi, it's sarah from method. Good news! The hand wash gel can be turned into foaming hand wash. Use 2 parts gel and one part water! Voila, foaming!"

Who knew it was that easy!? So next time you're having trouble finding your favorite foaming hand wash (lavender, refresh mint, etc.) don't despair, make it yourself! Just use your empty foaming hand wash bottle (as I'm sure you'll need that particular bottle, since it seems to be made a certain way, with that tiny little ball inside it, and all that weird pump-ery.) and mix away!

Let me know if you do this, and how it works! method class, over! (Thanks, Sarah!)

one man review - marine naturals hand wash

Continuing my (partial) week of new product reviews, last time I focused on the new marine naturals body wash line! I thought the body wash worked great, while the new refresh mint scent didn't hold up to the old green mint bloq scent, and didn't linger on your freshly cleaned body after a shower, again, unlike the green mint.

So this review is going to hit the hand wash portion of their new marine naturals line. method has started this thing where, when they release a body wash scent, they tend to also release a matching hand wash scent to go along with it. And that is what they've done here, with sea minerals, waterflower, and refresh mint.

Ok, here's where Nathan loses it? Are you ready? (You knew it was going to happen sooner or later, right?) I received a hefty trial of the foaming hand wash in refresh mint. (Speaking of trials and samples, I recall Colleen mentioning that samples for the new products would be rolling out! I wonder how those are doing? We are a greedy bunch, aren't we! But Whoo! samples! I can't wait!) Anyway, I'm not a foaming hand wash kind of guy. (Shocking, I know.) Eh, I don't know, the foaming hand wash just doesn't cut it for me. I feel like I have to wash my hands twice for some reason, cause it's this light foamy stuff that isn't as GRR as the gel hand wash. Don't ask me, I know LOTS of people that lust the stuff, so I'm in the minority. Ok, but what I loved was, every time I'd use the foaming hand wash, the scent of refresh mint would linger wonderfully on my hands! Mmm! Great, great, great!

Then I bought the body wash. And it didn't linger. Hmm? How very odd? But the foaming hand wash does? Hmm? Well, the minute I run out of foaming hand wash, I'm going to buy some gel, cause gel is the way I go!

And I did. And it works great as a hand wash, just like all the rest. Nothing to complain about at all! BUT (ok, one thing?) the scent doesn't linger. Just like the body wash? Is this a gel issue? Has Nathan really lost it? What's going on here? Does the foaming hand wash somehow hold onto the scent better? Could it be that double washing I was doing? LOL Who knows? (Nathan is SURE hung up on lingering scents, let me tell you! What is his deal? Geesh!) Anyway. I found it odd.

So here's the thing, I'm giving it a 4.5 out of five, cause it works great, as all their hand washes do! But again, I wish the refresh mint scent lingered longer. As for the foaming hand washes, I have yet to see them hit the Target stores, while the gels have been out for a little while.

OH, and one other thing, I don't know why I feel this way, but the previous waterflower scent in the bloq line was nice, clean, light; but just alright. And even in the marine naturals body wash, it's just alright. But everytime I go to smelling the gel hand wash in waterflower, I just go MMM! I love it! I think I might have to get some in the gel hand wash!

Don't ask me, I've really got issues. Or a very sensitive nose... who knows?

one man review - marine naturals body wash

Yesterday I reviewed the aroma pill nightlight, and pronounced it a rousing success! (What does that mean, anyway? Rousing? I gotta go look that up sometime. SOMEtime.) Today we're hitting up the new method body wash line, marine naturals. The line comes in waterflower, sea minerals, and refresh mint. For this review I'm doing the refresh mint. (It also comes in a body scrub, but unfortunately I have yet to purchase that. Anyone out there who has, and would lust writing a review, email it to me! And I'll post it! No, I'm serious! Real serious! Not that fake wishy-washy serious, but real real like!)

Ok, I'm gonna fess up, I think this review is going to be slanted. lol HEY, I admit it anyway. Why? Cause I really did love some bloq green mint body wash (the ten backup bottles hiding in my method vault should reveal that one just a little, eh?) But I got a nice sample of the refresh mint foaming hand wash before the line hit (hand wash will be reviewed separately, by the way... so hold on to those pants!) and while the scent was different, I did like it a lot. More of a mojito/spearmint touch to it, over the more bold mint the green mint scent gave off. And it lasted on my hands every time I washed them, so mmm!

That's where this body wash sorta falls short. It's the same scent, but with the bloq body wash, an hour later I still smelled like I had washed with green mint (cause I'd walk around and smell my arms a lot. Yeah, it's weird. I'm weird. But I smelled like green mint, so it was a definite good weird.) But with the new refresh mint, the scent doesn't linger. It's gone before I step out of the shower. And I sniff twice over that one, cause I wanna smell all minty all night long!

But is that what a body wash is, the fragrance? Well, no! For ME, yes. Ha ha! But for most, know. Does it clean well, I sure do think it does! Does it lather well, I bet I'd say it does, too! Some with eczema and itchy skin have even said it's helped them out! Perhaps it's the natural salt contained within the wash (a whopping 97% purifying sea salt, to be exact!) The bottle is dang cute, I've gotten use to the flip top (though I still think my squeeze bottom as a top would work perfectly! Seriously, squeeze hole (yeah, that just doesn't sound right, but go with it, ok?) on the top. Then all you gotta do is grab bottle, flip over, squeeze, and go. No dripping! Oh, I'm so good, so good. And the new scrub has a similar styled squeeze tube mechanism to it. I checked it out in the store. "Please don't squeeze the method!" Hey, I think that tagline is available, guys!)

So here's the thing. I'd give the body wash, as a body wash, a big ole 4.5 out of five! It works great! And I'd give the body wash fragrance a three, simply because I think green mint was a better mint smell, AND because it just doesn't linger like the previous body wash scents did. Perhaps the sea minerals or the waterflower does, though? I have yet to try those, as well.

Ok, tomorrow, we rassle up some hand wash! What will I think? Different than the body wash? Or the same? Stay tuned! Dum-dum-da-DUM! I know, you're falling off your chair in anticipation, really, I know...

well what'da ya know...

Stepped into a local Target today, and what was on the shelf (after just mentioning it in my previous post) but refresh mint and waterflower hand wash! Surprisingly (and luckily for me!) there was only ONE refresh mint gel hand wash on the shelf! Can you believe that? And three waterflowers (which for some reason smell extra wonderful in gel hand wash! Don't ask me why. More on that when I do a review for the new refresh mint body wash...) No foaming hand wash in either scent was spotted. So I swiped that refresh mint UP! And no joke, I just ran out of the sample I was given, this morning! How perfect!

+

Oh, and uhm, I think I just need to start working for method. Seriously. This past weekend, during ANOTHER Target trip, I wondered into the method aircare aisle, and geesh, it was a disaster. Aroma spray bottles fallen over, aroma rings knocked down, someone had stuck a couple Big Brand aircare spray bottles in the method area (hopefully after discovering the method aircare, and deciding against purchasing the Big Brand!) So I huffed in disgust, and actually went to work cleaning up the method aircare section so it'd look shiny and special for potential new customers/future advocates! (Uh, I realize this is actually Target's job.)

Yeah, I really do need some help. Or something better to do on a Saturday night, maybe?

ahoy sailor!

UPDATE OH boy! I (and many others from the comments people are leaving) have found the candles, and remainder of the aircare! I picked me up one pomegranate tea candle (burning as I type. Yum!) and a can of aroma lavender + lemongrass spray (my fav!) and I'm broke broke broke! But happily so! And I'm about to take a shower, and test out my new marine naturals refresh mint body wash! (I bet you wanted to know that, didn't you?) When you pop the lid, the inside says (around the hole) "save water. shower with a friend." Whew! Wait, I have no "friend" to shower with. Poo.

method's gettin' all sexy, sexy with their new phrases. Have you seen the latest on their site "wow. nice package." for the new wipes line? Ha! Too cool. Oh, and I forgot to mention below, but the body wash is $5.99, cheaper than the moisture line (at $7.49) so yeah! And for the same amount (18 oz.) I thought that was cool. So while things like candles and such go up, they try to help us out (or Target does, since I think they decide the pricing in their stores?) with cheaper (than we thought they would be) marine naturals body wash and smarty dish cubes! Thanks!

+

Yup, yup! Guess what I just found on my quick lunch trip to Target! The new marine naturals line is out! YES! I was so surprised to see these! This particular Target has yet to get anything else new in (with the exception of the pink grapefruit smarty dish cubes. You know, what's with the go naked? Everyone has the pink grapefruit, no go naked? Weird...)

The marine naturals look great! They had all three scents: waterflower (smells just like the bloq line), refresh mint (Heaven! I swear it smells like a mojito fell into their green mint body wash vat, and someone went "Ah-ha!"), and sea minerals. They also had the sea minerals body scrub. The hand washes weren't available yet, but I bet they'll be out really soon!

The bottle is wide, and skinny. It's not the same thickness all the way around. It looks great, though. And I'm so shocked they are keeping the moisture line out at the same time. This is the first time method has had two body wash lines out at once! Crazy!

One thing I did notice, that I honestly hope they reconsider down the line. The bottle is amazing, but they've put a flip top on it! Can you believe that? (And a big one, too.) Perhaps the bigger, the easier to open. But I'm so shocked they didn't use the same "bottle technology" they implemented with the original dish soap bottle; and their new improved version used in the baby + kid line body wash and bubbly bath. That way you'd just flip the bottle over, and squeeze! I thought for sure given the look of the bottle, that's the way they were going; but no, it's a flip top. Surprising. The plastic is pretty lite/thin, so maybe that was a consideration for the squeeze style (as the baby + kid line, and the older dish soap bottles sported thicker plastic.) Who knows, and it might work great when I put it to use; but right now I wish it had that cool squeeze-ability.

It's slowly starting to trickle in! I'm so excited, method (birthday!) month is starting to go full steam ahead! Yay for us!

sneak peek - marine naturals hand wash

Continuing our August new products sneak peek are two hand washes that will debut with the new body line, marine naturals! These two new scents are (well, one is new, waterflower comes to us from the bloq line, but in a new color!) waterflower, and refresh mint.

I've enlarged the bottles here to show you the scent names displayed proudly. I'm loving the refresh mint, and can't wait for it to hit stores!

These two scents will come in both gel and foaming hand wash varieties. (And since sea minerals is already available in a hand wash, this will provide each marine naturals body line with it's own hand wash as well!)

lil' happy, lil' sad

First the good news! It seems the new marine naturals personal care line will consist of the aforementioned sea minerals, water flower, and refresh mint body wash; along with the same scents in foaming and gel hand washes. Sea minerals will also see itself in a body scrub (the only scent to make it into the body scrub line, not sure why. Perhaps they're testing it out.) I can't wait, August is really much closer than you think (scarily!)

AND now the bad news! It appears that the body lotion and shaving cream (cringe!) will not be making a return visit. At least not in the foreseeable future. You know, as for the shaving cream, I think it got mixed results. I read lots of reviews about how guys just did not like it for shaving, while women thought it worked great. It was a different texture than most guys are familiar with. And I'll reveal a secret, when I first tried it, I didn't like it so much. It was so thick and wow! But I think it's like coffee, or calamari, Ha! (but no, seriously) it's something that grows on you, and now I love it so! I think it's great. I think a lot of people just didn't give it a chance. Man! I'm so bummed, no shaving cream. I'm surprised. I think I'm gonna go get some more Goodwill backups! I don't wanna go back to Gillette, method! Don't make me! (I think we should start some sort of petition! What do you say?)

As for the lotion, it seems to be a weird thing for method. Ages ago they had hand lotion for a while in signature (which smelled like sweet water to me?), green tea + aloe and french lavender scents, then those went away forever. Then they brought out the bloq body lotion, but it was the first to go in that line. I think the lotion is a great idea, so I hope they revisit both of these products at some point! Especially the shaving cream. I was hoping for post shave lotion, and the such. Alas, I'm still excited for the new body/hand wash line! Refresh mint, come to papa!

refresh mint, get it?

Lots of great news to share today! (Have you seen the sneak peek?!)Along with the new personal care line, the new refresh mint (get the name play? refreshment? Ha ha!) scent looks to be showing up in hand wash as well!

I was wondering what had happened to their "floating scent." I sort of call it that, just because method has their basic hand wash line: pink grapefruit, french lavender, sweet water, cucumber and go naked. Then they have this secondary line: sea minerals, green tea + aloe, and there is always this third scent that debuts for a bit of time, and is then replaced. (lemongrass, eucalyptus mint, ginger yuzu, etc.) so I call that one slot the "floating hand wash scent." Yeah, yeah, I just make this stuff up as I go along, ok? Anyway, after ginger yuzu, nothing replaced it (it's usually immediate) so I was like, NO, we need a new scent! And finally it looks like my hand wash prayers have been answered! Refresh mint!

I was EXTRAORDINARILY lucky to receive a sample of the new refresh mint foaming hand wash (which is how I know what the scent smells like, mentioning this in the new marine naturals post.) The more I use it, I definitely feel it's a really light version of green mint. I'm not actually sure why they gave it a new name? But no matter, I think it's drool worthy! I've been running around smelling my hands all morning long! I'm not sure when it's set to debut, but I'm thinking around August as well, with the other items (August is going to be method BIG, baby! Yay!)
