clean sweeps

A bit o' news here, a bit o' news there! It's a bit o' method news, everywhichwhere!

+ Some sad news. It looks like method is discontinuing their bathroom le scrub. I'm kinda shocked by this one, since there looks to be no update, or replacement on the horizon. Per method's Facebook page: "sorry to break the bad news, but yes, le scrub will be discontinued by the end of the year." Stock up now, before it's too late! Target has already put them on clearance.

+ I've seen a lot of complaints concerning two method products, and would like to hear your thoughts! Many users of the lemon verbena (or any of the anti-bac line of spray cleaners) find the updated formula scents to be way off, in fact, most say the lemon verbena smells like pee! Ouch! What have your experiences with these products been like? Do you like the new formula?

+ Complaint #2 happens to be over method's replacement for their lil bowl blu (in eucalyptus mint scent) to their new anti-bac toilet bowl cleaner (in spearmint scent.) I think most just don't like the new scent. It's another "what were you thinkin', method?" moment, since the rest of their bathroom line is in eucalyptus mint.

+ And a bit of great news, method has (pretty much) confirmed frosted fir is coming back, and will be one of their scent selections in hand wash for their holiday 2012 line! Pertaining to someone saying how much they lusted the scent, and wondering if it was still available, method replied: "it's great to hear you love frosted fir. it's a holiday scent, which means you might see it back on shelves in november. stay tuned."

+ Finally, I'm noticing most of the latest sneak peek announcements hitting Target shelves, from the Orla Kiely hand wash/dish soap/spray cleaner line (vanilla chai and pear ginger smell divine! Oddly enough, the bay leaf reminds me a lot of the spring sea salt + lime. Am I nuts?! Let me know!), to the spray fabric softener (which replaces their dryer sheets), as well as new smarty dish plus packets with rinse aids and extra cleaning power (for hard water, etc.) Have you picked any of these products up? What are your thoughts? Share in the comments!

method-a-go-go: sea minerals spray cleaner

If you happen to sea (insert groaning here!) any sea minerals all-purpose spray cleaner at your local stores, and you lust it, snatch some up and stash them away for a rainy day! Cause it's being discontinued (more than likely to make room for method's new white rosemary all-purpose spray scent!) - That is all. You are dismissed.

method-a-go-go: baby line

They grow up so fast, don't they? Or I guess in this case, they go away so fast. Over on method's Facebook page an advocate asked why it was so difficult to find their baby line, and method's response was:

"Are you looking for baby or kids products? Our baby line is being discontinued, but we still have kids shampoo and body wash available at Target stores nationwide."

So it looks like you new moms (or soon to be moms!) might wanna run out to your local Babies R' Us (the best bet for finding the baby line, as Target clearanced it out long ago) and get some deals before it goes bye-bye! I'm kinda surprised, as I'd bought method baby products for some of my friend's baby showers, and they always raved how awesome the diaper cream was!

petition, please!

Oh dear! method's gonna either lust my enthusiasm, or wanna beat me over the head with an eco-friendly sustainable forest derived stick for this one. But sometimes you just gotta do what'cha gotta do, ya know? So here goes!

Remember when ole' method discontinued their aircare line early last year? We all sniffed and whined and begged and pleaded and well, ok, most of us just sniiffed and whined. But the time has come for begging and pleading!

Every day I notice someone posting on method's Facebook page "where did aircare go?" (Hey, do they live under a rock? Don't they read method lust?! Aren't they as obsessed as I am with method products and stalk the Target store shelves each and every time they go shopping, and shouldn't they have noticed the aircare was gone like, last March? No, well, ok, so maybe everyone isn't as obsessed as I am! Well, I just call it lack of initiative! Ha!)

So (are you still with me, how many readers do I lose with my rambling rants? Hmm?!) I've decided it was time for an official "bring back method aircare" petition! On method's discussion board Facebook page! This is all you have to do! Head on over to the discussion board page, and add your post to the list! Just a little "one more advocate begging for aircare to come back!" or a "pretty please, more aircare would be the bee's knees!" and that's it! The more posts we get on our "official petition" the more method just might listen to us advocates, and the better our chances are of getting aircare back! It might be the old school aircare, it might be brand new aircare (and even more environmentally-friendly!) But no matter, we'd just lust it's return! Our stuffy homes are begging for some wonderous mingling method scents wafting in the air!

So get to it, go sign the petition today (don't post in the comments section here! Well, I mean, please feel free to do so, but also make sure you go sign officially on their Facebook thread!) Thanks!

over and out

Poor omop... and another method product bites the dust. Read the announcement here.

finds!

After spotting a quick note over on method's Facebook page, I did a snappy run over to Burlington Coat Factory, and tada, what did I find, but a few method candles! This method advocate posted that she'd found some sweet water candles, while I found pomegranate tea candles at my store! So it looks like it'll just be a surprise, method scent wise! Let method lust know if you find candles (or other method products!) at your local Burlington Coat Factory, or any other discount stores (Ross, Big Lots, Marshalls, etc!)

o'no?

I decided to take a little strolly-stroll down my nearby Lowe's Hardware today, after lunch - just to see what was what in the method section, and if they still carried the lavender dish soap and eucalyptus mint tub + tile cleaner (the answers are double yes!) But while doing all that (and balancing a ball upon my head, just because you know I like to multi-task like nobody's business!) I came upon a possibly sad sight.

It looks like Lowe's is clearancing out the method Omop! Including the wood and all-floor microfiber cleaning cloths. The sweeper dusters are not on clearance however, but those could be used for multiple purposes (such as dusting cloths throughout the house, etc.) Now, this is just speculation for the time being, but I'm not feeling too good about the ole' Omop at this point. I know, I know, it hasn't been without it's kinks (or snaps, and breaks, mind you.) But what with Target having also clearanced that baby out, like a year or more ago, it leaves people's Omop options very limited - possibly only to the methodhome.com online store! (Does anyone else know if it's available in other retail stores? I haven't seen it anywhere, myself... And yes, I should know this. This is method lust, after all. But hey, I'm not the method God. Ok? I don't know all, as much as I pretend to let on that I do! Ha ha!)

In fact, over on their method Facebook page, an advocate recently asked:

"Do you still have the mop? I can't find refills at my Target anymore! Help!" to which they responded "Lowe's Hardware, or the method online store." So, I guess I might just be a method God after all!

+

In fact, I'm noticing an interesting trend in method lately? Perhaps, just perhaps, they're slowly discontinuing all non-explicit cleaning products (is that the proper usage of explicit, if not, eh, you know what I'm trying to get at!) The microfiber cleaning cloths have slowly been disappearing from store shelves (you know, the ones that were for glass, granite, wood, etc.) In fact, you can't even order them on the methodhome.com site any longer. The aircare went bye-bye (and it had many non-cleaning components, such as the plug-in, and the ring, ceramic oil diffuser, glass bowls, etc.) Now (might) the Omop also be poised for method Heaven?

Have we reached a point where method is trying to simplify its product line to where if it isn't a liquid-based cleaning product, it's out? While this does sound more green-friendly, it also sends people to their competition (as people will have to buy swiffers, and other cleaning cloths, aircare products, etc.)

Do you think this would be a good, or a bad thing? Keep in mind the Omop thing is just speculation at this point (but again, as far as I'm concerned, it ain't lookin' too good.)

headin' out

Target has placed a couple more method items on the sad clearance list. I've noticed recently the pink grapefruit gel hand wash refill pouches have been clearanced, and method lust reader Jamison has let me know he saw the dilutable cleaner on clearance as well.

method is moving a bunch of new products onto Target's store shelves this month. But in true Target fashion, it seems that instead of adding to the method line in their stores, anytime method debuts a new product Target has to clearance one out to free up the shelf space. Which always irritates me to no end. But alas, what can you do?

So a quick run down on Target's method clearance list:

+ tub + tile bathroom cleaner (replaced with the new anti-bac bathroom spearmint cleaner? Not sure.)
+ dilutable cleaner
+ pink grapefruit gel hand wash refill
+ go naked gel hand wash
+ refresh mint foaming and gel hand wash (discontinued)
+ waterflower foaming and gel hand wash (discontinued)
+ creamy hand wash in coconut + honey and cucumber + aloe
+ all wipes in pouch packaging (go naked, lavender, and pink grapefruit - discontinued and replaced with the new anti-bac lemon verbena wipes)
+ dish soap in lavender and pink grapefruit scents (discontinued and replaced with the new dish soap line)
+ the peony 25-load laundry detergent (definitely not discontinued)
+ and I've also noticed Target doesn't seem to be carrying the rice milk + mallow baby line any longer. The baby products, and room for them are completely missing from the store shelves. Perhaps these are only being carried at Babies R' Us now?)

Whew! And I think that's it. If I didn't write discontinued next to the item, I'm not sure if it's just been clearanced by Target, or discontinued by method (I'm gonna ask method! Or hey, method, if you're reading this, feel free to leave a comment!) Many of these items have been replaced with new products (the dish soaps, new limited edition hand washes, waterfall scent now being placed in the permanent hand wash line, etc.) so for a lot of this stuff it's sorta an "upgrade/swap-out". Just a little 411 for ya!

aircare at marshalls!

What's that you say? You're not sick of hearing about aircare yet? Well, then! Ha ha ha... but actually this is great news! People are finding discontinued aircare products at their local Marshalls (a store brand owned by TJMaxx, even though they don't carry the same products, which I always find odd as they're really the same stores but with different names.)

Advocates have found cut grass pills, pomegranate tea candles, and more! In fact, I ran to mine the day I found out (you bet I ran!) and while I didn't find what I was HOPING to find (Oh I had dreams! Dreams of waterfalls full of method aircare raining down on me as I giddily grabbed all the wonderous products and scents and threw them into my cart. But that didn't happen! Who knew? Marshalls just isn't what it used to be, without all their product waterfalls and such. Oh how I used to spend a relaxing weekend under their product waterfalls, pina colada in hand, sipping under the fluorescent sun. Yeah, at this point if you're still reading what I'm writing, I feel for you. Really and truly. No, just stop. I mean, just stop reading what I'm writing here and move onto the next paragraph. You'll be happy you did. Fer reals.)

I did find some holiday pill refills! You just don't know WHAT you might find! So rustle up the kids, and make a run for Marshalls! And when you do, let method lust know what you find! (So I can be all kinds of jealous.)

the comments are in...

...concerning method's decision to discontinue the entire aircare line (something many people don't seem to have grasped yet. A few think they've only discontinued the pills, perhaps because of the photo they used with their article?) And peeps, they ain't happy! (Count me as part of this group, too!) Here's just some (of the many) comments taken from method's official blog, and Facebook page:

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Are the pill plug in parts recyclable? I have so many... Very sad."

"i'm sorry but don't a TON of people make similar natural cleaning products while pretty much NOBODY makes natural air care products???"

"I can't find any equivalent for air care, nothing anywhere! There are NO plug ins! But there are a shed load of eco friendly cleaning products! Talk about missing a trick."

"no more lotions and no more candles. besides my mom needing some cleaning sprays once in awhile this is pretty much good bye for me."

"I'm seriously, really and truly, UPSET about this. These are the only air fresheners I trust in our home. The ingredients in all the others are such a mystery to me. I use the lavender ones both at home and at work, since lavender helps a lot with headaches. I also love the sweet water and the holiday scents. I was willing to pay more for them ..."

"VERY upset about this. I hope there is some new amazing air product to replace these. I hate when I find products I love and then they change or are discontinued. Just ends up making me shop elsewhere. Not smart Method."

"Please bring back the aircare line!!!"

"honestly, i used to go OUT OF MY WAY to buy the air care b/c i'm really sensitive to chemicals & perfumes (even though i have to drive to another city to get it). i do have some of their cleaning products, but now that i live in a town w/o a target, i do end up buying seventh generation for cleaning. air care was the only thing keeping me with method. i bet they are going to regret this move."

"I can't believe the aircare line has been discontinued! the aroma plug-ins are the only air-care products that lasted a long time, didn't smell like a chemical and came in a beautifully designed package. has anyone found out why it was discontinued?"

"Just came back from hoarding AromaPills & Rings @ Target. This was so not a good business decision. ;("

+

And then my favorite, apparently from a very optimistic person:

"i believe one day they will emerge again... :)"

How's that for hope?

arrivederci, aircare

I so called it. Sad face.

From method's official people against dirty blog:

"it’s time to come clean. today we say ‘bon voyage!’ to a good friend — air care.

our ‘people against dirty’ have been asking for a few months now, “what's happening with method aircare (i.e., air enhancers, aroma rings, plug ins, soy candles and aroma sticks)?” we're sorry we haven’t been able to give you the whole air care story until now.

as many of you have guessed, air care will no longer be part of the method line, but you'll still be able to find our air care products online and at a few retail partners. if you love our air care products, BUY THEM NOW because we don’t have any plans to reintroduce them.

it was a really, really tough decision to exit out of air care. after all, we’re the little guy who brought innovation and heavenly smells to a world of fake pine and aerosol orange. we’re so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish together with our people against dirty in this space. given the size and budgets of bigger companies making similar products, with not-so similar ingredients, we’ve decided to focus on leading the home revolution in areas where we can continue to make a difference — under the counter, in the loo, on the floor, in the sink…well, you get the idea.

we’re really proud of all the air care products we made and are sorry if this news is disappointing. if you're one of the loyal people against dirty who love our air care products, the best places to find them are: methodhome.com, drugstore.com, amazon.com, lowes home improvement centers and duane reade (nyc).

feel free to share your favorite air care memories and scents in the comments below — mine was vanilla apple. thanks for hangin' in there with us."

+

Thoughts? (I personally think this is a REALLY bad move on method's part. But I guess only time will tell.)

This is my favorite quote so far from over on the method Facebook page (where they also posted this news):

"I'm sorry but don't a TON of people make similar natural cleaning products while pretty much NOBODY makes natural air care products?" - I completely agree.

sad homes

So it definitely looks like it's true. While still no official word from up on method high, I'm calling the time of death on aircare. I walked into my local Target last night and my shoulders slumped as I turned the aircare aisle corner and saw... the entire method section had been removed and replaced WITH... Glade. Glade, Glade, and more Glade. So. Sad.

The remaining method aircare items were moved to the endcaps of the aisles, where at least at my store they've hit 75% off now ($1.98 for aroma sprays!) So I'd say run out and snatch up what you can, cause it really truly looks like it's all over for the aircare line. Which shocks the heck out of me! I mean, this isn't small potatoes, this is an entire line of products they've had for years, gone. I think they've really dropped the ball on this one, but time will tell I guess.

Now I could be completely wrong here, but it's at least obvious that Target is done with the aircare line, it's history! So I'm sticking by my instincts on this one. With that said, let's (sniff sniff) take a quick last look at some old school aircare aisle shots!

dumped?

Missing your favorite method product that you once purchased from Target? Wondering why it just suddenly disappeared/got clearanced/went away? How about this REALLY interesting article from CNN about how products are literally being dumped from store shelves!

"Dumped! Brand names fight to stay in stores |
By Parija Kavilanz

Don't be shocked if you can't find your favorite salad dressing or mouthwash on your next trip to Wal-Mart.

Large retailers -- including Wal-Mart (WMT, Fortune 500), the world's biggest -- are wrestling with having too many types of brand-name products. At the same time, shoppers are buying less and looking for bargains.

So unless a particular brand is a top seller in its category, it's getting knocked off the shelf -- and sometimes getting replaced by a cheaper store brand.

For example, Wal-Mart recently removed Glad and Hefty-branded storage bags from shelves, replacing them with its own lower-priced Great Value brand, according to the parent companies of both products.

In the case of Hefty, parent Pactiv Corp. (PTV) told CNNMoney.com that Wal-Mart reversed its decision, and will return its products to shelves this spring -- after Pactiv agreed to make the Great Value bags that will sell alongside the competing Hefty product.

"Hefty was off Wal-Mart's shelves, but we are being brought back," said Matt Gonring, spokesman for Pactiv Corp.

Bill Pecoriello, CEO of market research firm ConsumerEdge Research, expects Wal-Mart and other sellers will trim several name-brands across categories in coming months, or negotiate deals to get better pricing.

According to Pecoriello, those categories at greatest risk of losing brands are everyday-type purchases such as household products, toiletries and food staples.

These are also categories in which retailers have aggressively pushed their own house brands.

"If you consider the economics of this, if Wal-Mart can build customer loyalty for its own brand, which is also cheaper-priced and cheaper to stock than name-brands, then it will," he said.

Heavyweight
Moves such as this are significant given Wal-Mart's heavyweight status in the retail industry.

"Any change that Wal-Mart makes with its product assortment has enormous implications for the entire industry," said Ali Dibadj, senior analyst with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co.

Wal-Mart declined comment for this story.

Wal-Mart is not the only one doing this, according to Dibadj. He says leading drug store chains, including CVS and Walgreens, grocers such as Kroger (KR, Fortune 500), and Wal-Mart's rival discounter, Target (TGT, Fortune 500), are also looking to simplify their store shelves.

In good economic times, product variety is a must for retailers. But in down times, when shoppers aren't buying much, variety can be a burden.

"Wal-Mart's a little fed up," said Lora Cecera, retail expert and partner at strategy consulting firm Altimeter Group. "I think the feeling is that as these companies keep extending their [product] lines, it's only causing confusion for shoppers and not really driving them to buy more products."

As a consumer, she asked, "Do I really need to decide between 15 different types of toothpaste when I go to a store?"

Dawn Willoughby, vice president-general manager of Glad brand for the Clorox Co. (CLX, Fortune 500), agreed.

"On an industry level, we've been talking about simplifying product assortment for a long time," said Willoughby. "If you walk into a Wal-Mart or another large retail chain, there are so many products on shelves that it does make it harder to shop."

Let's make a deal
Besides cutting clutter, industry experts say Wal-Mart and other retailers are looking for more lucrative deals from suppliers on both prices and advertising.

In one recent example, according to published reports, Wal-Mart removed Arm & Hammer liquid laundry detergent from most of its stores. But the discounter brought back the product after Arm & Hammer boosted its advertising for the product at Wal-Mart.

Arm & Hammer parent Church & Dwight (CHD) did not return calls for comment. Other consumer product makers -- including Colgate-Palmolive and Procter & Gamble -- either declined comment or did not return calls.

Said Dibadj, "Perhaps one consideration in which product to cut is based on which company gives [Wal-Mart] the best deal."

Citing the Hefty example, he said "these threats can become quite aggressive, such as delisting and subsequent relisting after a compromise.

Altimeter Group's Cecera believes consumers stand to win from the retailers' moves.

"In this recession, consumers have certainly become less discriminating with what they buy," said Cecera. "Consumers have rushed to value prices, and they are buying generic brands."

She said retailers' own brands have grown their market share by between 2% to 6%.

This newfound affection for store brands is "sticking," said Dibadj. He cites his firm's recent survey finding that 77% of consumers who traded down to less expensive private label products are happy with their decision."

+

Be sure to head on over and read the comments people are leaving. Lots of food for thought!

So what do you think? You know what's crazy is, the more obsessed I've become with method products, the more I've learned about retail practices (I had no idea until a few years ago that brands had to buy and fight for space on shelves!? That's just, well, insane to me! No joke, I don't know how many times I'll walk down the floor cleaning aisle and stand in AWE I tell you, in awe at the fact that Swiffer LITERALLY owns that aisle. The. Entire. Freakin'. aisle. I mean, there are so many Swiffers and Swiffer cloths on those shelves you'd die if they fell on you. You'd die of light as a feather Swiffer cloths falling upon your body because there are so many frickin' packages of them on the shelves! "Man Crushed By Swiffer Cloths! News at eleven!" AND yet, they can't make a tiny teeny little bittle bit of room to fit three method oMops on that shelf. Nope. Nada. None. (Cause three was all they ever carried at a time, anyway.) I mean, WHAT the crap is up with that? Seriously.) It's cause Swiffer has bought up all the shelf space and the oMop went bye bye. (And the oMop is just a tad more expensive then the Swiffer, but I digress...)

Many of us have noticed Target's purging of method products (among many items and brands) from their stores as of late, and the apparently lack of finding said products. I think personally, it's sad when a retail store purges brand name products, so they can make their own cheap versions to sell. Up & Up anyone (Target's new generic brand) or... uh, nothing?

And did you notice how every product Walmart brought back in that article above, had a "you scratch our backs we'll MAYBE scratch yours" attached to it. That's just not right. Thoughts?

Lastly, I just HAD to share this from another blog! It cracked me up, is so totally true, and you'll notice what brand she ends the piece with (and I'm betting is starting to curse as she heads into Target for her latest aircare purchase.)

From Whrool:

"Dear Target
I have a bone to pick with you, Target. First off, I would like you to know that I am a very nice person who enjoys giving the benefit of the doubt. You are a very popular store. I get it.

However, why must it be so difficult for you to keep my meager list of needed items in stock? Will the glorious day ever arrive when I can cross off 100% of the items on my shopping list before exiting your store? For instance, WHY OH GOD WHY is it so hard for you to keep Dove Sensitive Skin Face Cloths on your shelves? You have 3,000 Dove Moisturizing Face Cloths and 14,000 Dove Deep Clean Face Cloths sitting right there in front of my face, mocking me. All I need is ONE BOX of Sensitive Skin Cloths. WHHYYYYYYY?

Funny story, Target. Do you realize that the primary reason I started using Dove Sensitive Skin Face Cloths was because you couldn’t keep the Oil of Olay Sensitive Face Cloths on the shelves? So, after much trial and tribulation, I finally found a new brand that didn’t make my skin weep and always seemed to be in stock? But NOW, the Dove ones are always sold out? Do you know how this makes me feel, Target? It makes me feel very shaky. Isn’t that a funny story, Target? Not so much funny ha-ha, but funny stab stab STAB.

Same with deodorant. (Why is it so difficult for me to spell deodorant without spell check? Am I the only one?) I have long been a user of Secret Powder Fresh or “Protecting Powder” deodorant (p.s. – Secret, please stop changing the names. You are confusing me.), yet it has been virtually impossible to find on your shelves. I have spent many, many cumulative hours searching though the sea of Secret deodorants: Vanilla, Rockstar Rose, Tutti-Frutti, Wild Jasmine, Cherry Mischief (seriously, WHO wants their armpits to smell like fucking fruit?), Truth or Pear, Sparkly Shit, WHATEVER. JUST GIVE ME MY OLD SCHOOL POWDER FRESH, PEEPS.

Yet, no dice. So, once again, I changed my personal preference to ensure an In Stock Status. Secret Unscented seemed to be the wise choice, considering there are usually 325 Unscented ones on your shelves at all times. Also, who knew that I would actually enjoy not making my armpits smell like a fabricated freshly-washed baby’s ass? It’s liberating, I tell you!

I bet you know where this is going, don’t you? Over the past couple of months, I can’t find a Secret Unscented to save my life.

Target, I’m beginning to think you are toying with me, knowing that I must visit you in order to buy all of my Method cleaning products. What’s a girl gotta do to get some health and beauty product love?

Sincerely,

Whoorl"

+

and what do you know, a comment from the article: "I feel the same way, but about the Method products we apparently so covet. Target has scaled back on the amount of products they stock. My favorite aroma pill, Pomegranate Tea, is now MIA. SO my backup of Vanilla Apple? POOF! Gone too! Target is SO on notice around here..."

ring-a-ding-done?

Curious what everyone is doing (or about to be doing, if you're not out yet) when it comes to aroma ring refills? Since method has apparently discontinued them, leaving the only option at Target stores to purchase the full set (ring and refill) each time you want more refills (though the refills are at this moment still available on their method home store site).

Are you just gonna hang up your aroma ring lust? Break down and buy the full sets? Discuss!

lil' more speculation!

Looks like Target has moved the method aircare aroma rings and candles off their designated shelves, and onto the clearance end caps (the ends of the aisles where they always put the clearance/discontinued stuff. I know them so well.) LOL At least they've done this at my Target, so I'm sure yours will happen soon, if not yet.

I'll be curious to see what happens next. The rest of the aircare line is still on the shelves; I guess we'll have to see if it gets consolidated, or if the clearance items are replaced with something new; or if they're discontinuing the line in sections. OH the world of speculation!

+

In other sorta but not really related news, I got a new car two days ago! Yay! (Uh, first time I've ever bought a new car. I think I've gained like, eight ulcers. Gah!) But I believe I must be about one of the only people in the world that really dislikes "new car scent." I mean, people buy things to MAKE their car smell like this?! Wha? And as we know, it's mostly just off gassing and other horrid things occurring in your car that are really bad for you. So I needed a scent enhancer! Cue the aroma ring (and for the record, I'm pretty anti-aroma ring. The rooms in my duplex are just too big for them to work properly for me.) Ages ago fellow advocates had a great idea to place aroma ring refills in your car, to get that wonderful scent! I did this with lavender lemongrass, and WHEW! It was way too strong. That had to go!

But this time around I'm trying out some eucalyptus mint, and you know what, it's working. It actually sorta mingles "well" with the new car smell, while giving it this burst of minty freshness! I like it a lot! So now my new goal is to run around to Big Lots and purchase all those eucalyptus mint aroma ring refills I've seen in there forever, but had no desire to buy at the time! And... go! Do you use an aroma ring refill in your car? What scent?

clean sweeps

+ Every once in a while I'll stumble upon some method product that I didn't even know was still around, right there in a store! So just in case there might be some products you too were wishing and longing for, I thought I'd give you a quick list of "extinct products that aren't" that I've seen recently:

+ Eucalyptus mint foaming hand wash can be found at Lowe's Hardware
+ Green tea + aloe, and sweet water hand sanitizer is available at Office Max
+ Did you even realize method made a water flower, and refresh mint foaming hand wash to go along with their marine naturals body wash? I've never seen either in stores, but they're available for purchase on methodhome.com
+ You may also be surprised to know that you can find method's past Holiday line (winterberry, frosted fir, spiced pear and toasted hazelnut), gingerbread spice candles and aroma pill refills, fresh lychee aroma rings, citrus cilantro candles, pomegranate tea aircare, bloq body citron leaf lotion, bloq body green mint body wash, ginger yuzu gel hand wash, water lily + aloe laundry detergent, and the original wet dryer sheets in a variety of scents; all discontinued product, STILL available on methodhome.com! Pretty cool!

+ Target has FINALLY started getting in stock for the new method laundry detergent! I about fell over when I saw it yesterday! Right now I've only seen the larger 64 oz. size in free + clear, but hopefully they'll also stock the other scents soon. Until then, remember you can find the new detergent at Lowe's Hardware, and Lowes grocery stores! (And, compared to Target, both of these stores carry a wider scent and size range.)

+method's Anna Boyarsky is so totally seriously asking method advocates for fragrance suggestions! Really, honestly! She twitters in method tweet "We're looking for some fragrance inspiration. ideas?" So this is your chance! I've asked you all before, and oh, before too! Ha ha! But tell her again! Here's your chance to let your scent lust be heard! Mmm, lemongrass sea flower basil verbana fig lust! I know, I know. I'm living in method scents past! Be sure to let her know not only your favorite method fragrances that have gone to scent Heaven that you'd love seeing return, but what new, never before sniffed method scents you'd lust seeing brought into this world! Butt slap and all! Comment away!

new (old) finds!

Well, well! Check out my latest finds on today's road trip to Big Lots! I wasn't really expecting anything to pop up (other than the old packaging wipes reader Jamison had mentioned earlier last week.) But there was a slew of new stuff!

I picked up some method free + clear laundry detergent (they've had the sweet water for a while now, but I'm so excited they got the free + clear!) $3.00 people! Crazy! And I snatched up a refill bag of ginger yuzu hand wash (can you believe this is my FIRST ever bag hand wash refill purchase?! I know, I know... well, wait, I did purchase some of the hard bottle refills a zillion years ago, so does that count? Eh. Who knows!) $2.50 (for about three bottles worth of hand wash refill!) And they had, oh my I squealed like a pig (but in a good way!) when I saw them, nectarine blossom wet dryer sheets! OH YES! I grabbed up some of those, as well! $2.50! I also decided to buy up the last remaining fig candles they had sitting around, since those suckers are about gone (they've been at my Big Lots forever, and I'll buy a couple at a time, but I'm not rich, so I couldn't just pick up every last one. But there were a few remaining today, and I knew that was going to be it for my fig lust, so I caved!)

BUT, they have a ton more stuff I didn't get. Sweet water hand wash bottles ($2.00), peppermint vanilla plug-in double pack refills ($4.00), hollyberry aroma sticks ($6.00), hollyberry aroma rings ($4.00), beach sage plug-in refills ($2.50), cut grass plug-in + refill pack ($4.00), steel for real wipes ($2.50), and pink grapefruit wipes (and Jamison said his has wood for good, and granite wipes. I didn't see them at the three (yes, YES, three! LOL) stores I went to. They ALL had exactly the same thing.) And they had a ZILLION peppermint vanilla plug-in refills. I mean, a ZILLION.

One day I'm gonna have to sit down with those method folks and get the lowdown on how this stuff gets divided out? I'm just really curious. I was DYING to find some lavender + lemongrass wet dryer sheets, but NO one had anything but about five boxes at each store of the nectarine blossom. What's up with that? Cause the whole line was discontinued. OH, my lavender + lemongrass dryer sheets, I LUST you so! And I'm down to my last box. Sniff. I guess it'll just be nectarine blossom from here on out. AND, why a zillion peppermint vanilla refills, but no hollyberry or cinnamon bark ones? (Cause these were from that year's line.) Isn't that odd?

Let me know if you find anything different at your local Big Lots! And happy hunting!

PS - LOL, and method luster Brit just posted this in the comments (I hadn't noticed! She beat me to it!) "I just got a nice Method find at a Big Lots is Mass. Everything from soap, laundry detergent, dryer sheets, dish soap, candles, aroma pills, wipes and stuff like that. Does Method make, or use to make, Nectarine Blossom laundry soap? I found the dryer sheets, now I want the soap lol."

Cool! What scent dish soap and candles did you find? The old ceramic candles? I'm curious! We didn't get any new candles in at my store, as the two I picked up have been there forever. And sadly, no, method never made nectarine blossom laundry soap. Just dryer sheets! But don't they rock! Mmm...

let the holiday sale begin (early!)

Looks like Target has started the method holiday sale, early! (Oh, wait, did I already say early in the title? Well, it's worth repeating!) This is a change of pace, as last year they actually waited 'til mid January! I just stopped by on my way home from work tonight, and while hand wash, dish soap, and spray cleaner are still regular price; all other holiday method items have hit sale! As in after-holiday sale! Right now they're only 15% off (which is the first markdown discount Target usually does.)

So if you're looking for some frosted fir, spiced pear, winter berry, or toasted hazelnut candles, aroma rings, aroma sticks (hmm, just realized they were gone!), candle trios, or potpourri ornaments, now's the time! Run on out, and pick some up!

Looks like lust readers Jamison and Josh found them as well! You readers sure do post comments in the strangest places! Ha ha! Thanks for the info., guys!

method home

Speaking of deals (see below) I bet many of us forget a favorite spot, method's own online store at method home! (Let's forget the ouch inducing shipping fees for the time being...)

There are lots of discontinued finds still floating about on their site, ready to be snapped up! Are you longing for any of these items, once so readily willing to leap into your arms for a night out on the town; now no longer to be seen, having moved on to someone else? Oh whoa, sorry, I mean, are you missing any of these products? Well, they've been found! How's this for a sampling?

Ginger yuzu and eucalyptus + mint gel and foaming hand wash, fig pill refills, fresh lychee, beach sage, and eucalyptus + mint aroma ring refills; beach sage pill refills and candles, cut grass aroma sticks, the entire bloq body line (wha?!), iconic dish soap bottle in french lavender, green tea + aloe and sweet water hand sanitizer, wet dry sheets in nectarine blossom, lavender + juniper, and water lily + aloe; and that's just what I've found!

So head on over and pick up some lost lusts! (Now who wants to do some donatin' to ole' method lust, so I can pick up some fig pill refills! Ohhh, man! I know, I'm shameless (ahem, donate button located on right side bar.)

Enjoy!
