rhonda's chicago detox

"I sent you some photos from my Method house party. - I love the way they propped stuff around the house. It was so much fun. My party was October 4th; it was their last, and the largest with 30 people. (No one said no to the invite!) They were great - Felicia and Sarah were at my house and everyone loved them. There were two cocktails that were similar to Method products. A lemongrass ginger cocktail and a pink grapefruit martini... yum!"
So check out all the pics, already! Wish I had been there!

Check out that last pic! It's method's own Sarah Stich looking OH so sassy! You go girl!
Oh, and Rhonda, I want your mercury glass/silver set in the first pic. Gorgeous! Wow! I lust stuff like that! Thanks for sharing!

chicago roundup

"As we bid Detox Chicago a fond farewell, we'd like to give a shout-out to our wonderful advocates. Four fantastic females allowed us to throw parties in their homes for a few of their friends. We stashed method in bookcases, bathrooms, and little nooks and crannies. Cocktails flowed and we got a chance to talk to people about everything from design to environmental responsibility. Everyone walked away with a plastic bag rehab tote stuffed with products and surprises; and hopefully a better understanding of every aspect of method. There's nothing better than getting the chance to tell why we do what we do."

well look who?

double detox

Stephanie over on adventures in babywearing says:
"So, way back when I was at BlogHer in San Francisco and (I can't remember if it was before or after the naked man in the hallway incident) I got an email from Brand About Town asking if I'd be interested in being a Method Maven- where I'd host a party in Chicago to encourage our friends to detox their homes and do some fun eco-friendly activities. My roomates Amy & Arianne also got the email, and we squealed since we love Method -who doesn't?- and found out that the Brand About Town girls were staying in the suite directly across the hall from us with Alpha+Mom.
We walked right on over (I think I was in my pajamas and barefoot) and made ourselves friendly and ate their yummy cupcakes and then headed back over there for breakfast the next morning. During all this it was decided that all three of us should host one big Method party together.
Eco-expert Danny Seo was the master of ceremonies (that night his episode as a guest judge on Bravo's Top Design also aired!) and among a backdrop of amazing Method products, fun craftiness, and delicious finger foods, we partied like we were in our own home. But with no clean up. It was fabulous.
And stay with me here- there just might be a great big Method giveaway at the end.

(And see that dish he's holding in the photo above? I have that very plate signed by Danny to give away, too.)
Ivy (Stephanie's new baby) enjoyed her first party, and we're sorry you couldn't join us! We thought it would be fun in her honor to give away the Method Baby line!
Win! I've got the Method Baby Squeaky Green body lotion, bubbly bath, hair & body wash, & diaper cream to giveaway. All in a signed Danny Seo-created Method Plastic Bag Rehab market tote!
To enter, just leave a comment here telling me your favorite Method product. I'll choose one winner at random sometime after Tuesday October 21, 11:59pm. If you don't feel comfortable leaving your email address, the winner will also be posted at Prizey Winners. Open to US residents only.
And stay tuned- I'll tell you how you can win Danny's fun dish from the party!"

Her roommate Arianne from To Think is to Create had her own thoughts on the fun festivities (and her own contest!):
"A couple nights ago I had the privilege of being one of three hostesses for a fabulous Method Maven party downtown in Chicago. We’ve been planning on the party for weeks, however our lovely sponsors required nothing of us except for a guest list.
I’m already a big fan of Method, having raved about them at Mama Speaks, but to be called a Method Maven? Well, I was beyond giddy.

Throughout the night, almost all of my favorite local Chicago-land area ladies showed up and we enjoyed gourmet food, plenty of wine and best of all–crafting with one of my favorite people around, Danny Seo. He’s a famous eco chic designer (you may have seen him as the guest judge on this week’s Top Design on Bravo) and an environmental lifestyle expert, and gave us a tutorial on how to create fun designs and re-glaze old recycled plates. He was also very sassy, which I loved:

It was a fabulous evening, one I really needed, and I want to thank Method and Brand About Town for putting this shindig on!
But that’s not all…

There are a few ways to enter, and you can increase your chances by doing all three!
1. Comment on this post telling me your favorite Method product and favorite scent. Mine’s the baby bubble bath and cucumber.
2. Get two additional entries by tweeting about this contest (make sure to comment with your tweet!)
3. Get three additional entries by grabbing my blog button on the right and putting it on your site/blog (again, let me know you did it).
So yeah, you can get a total of SIX entries by doing all three things. Cool, right?
Contest ends on Wednesday October 15th at 11:59pm. Winner chosen at random. Good luck! (Fudge, I just realized the contest ends tonight! So get to entering!)

As usual, I'm horribly jealous of all the fun! What I wouldn't give to get to go to one of these parties! (Were there enough "to"s in that sentence?) Ah, so much fantastical fun! Well, lusters, get to signing up for some great contests! And if you've had a detox party, send me the details/email/blog link, and photos and I'll post them here on method lust! Thanks!

more chicago pics!

And hey, if you head by the Chicago detox store, please take some photos and send them my way! And/or send me a review of your trip! I'll post them here on method lust! And put your name up in lights! (Well, maybe not lights, but definitely bold letters! Maybe even with a color...)

chicago, chicago!

In the evenings, Chicago-based "method mavens" host private parties in the shop that educate and inspire guests while promoting healthy cleaning and living habits. The parties include eco-projects led by green living experts Danny Seo and Sophie Uliano; "sustainable sip" organic cocktail-mixing classes and an evening with Chicago area design students hosted by method's designers, Josh Handy and Nate Pence.
As I receive more information, I'll let you know! If you stop by, be sure to take some pics and send them my way for all to see! Thanks!

tiny updates, big news!

And two: A moment of long silence. The Charlotte detox pop-up store DREAM OF A LIFETIME... has been debunked. It appears the Charlotte store will not be happening. (But I say, let's make it happen! If enough of us express interest, perhaps method will think it over? Huh, huh? I mean, I know you would have thought just the mere fact of my living in North Carolina would have brought them here, but alas! (And no, my ego is not that inflated! Why, the very thought. It was a joke, people. A joke! Oh dear...) I'm also hearing that Minneapolis may not be next on the list. Hey, I can't be right ALL the time! (Another joke, people! Geesh!) More news as I hear it.
And three: (What, there was no three?!) Nathan once again forgot his method profiles in-fo-may-she-on!, so look for it AGAIN tomorrow. He's let me know he promises to never slack off like this again. Well, at least not until next Wednesday. Sometimes he likes to talk about himself in third person. He's not sure why.

...can't breathe...

Why you ask? WHY you ask? OH. MY. WORD! Do you know what I (just sorta but not officially yet but really soon will) found out? (Sarah, SARAH, SARAH, you are SO sneaky!) The method detox campaign is over in New York. Where is it going next, you ask? Well, next up I'm hearing Minneapolis, MN!
And then...
CHARLOTTE freakin' two hours away from me I WILL be having a method detox home party Sarah Homeijer so don't even think otherwise I'll flippin' pick you up and take you back if I need to NORTH CAROLINA! Holy Mother of excitement, I... I... well, can you tell I'm just a little happy?
This had better not be a joke. Ha ha! I'm tellin' ya! I can't believe it! HO' mama! Actually I think I'll just take off work that week, and loiter the method detox Charlotte pop-up store, ALL week long. They'll lust me! Well, until they get sick of me, which probably won't take long.
Ok, enough pandering and self-excitement! Moving on, but I so had to share. HO' MAMA!
Where did I learn this bit of info., you ask?... read on.

le original

"A store dedicated to cleaning products? Couldn’t imagine it? Ammo could. And we did.
In the spring of 2004, Method Home products, a San Francisco-based natural cleaning products company, approached Ammo Marketing to develop a creative marketing strategy that would build overall brand awareness and put its product in the hands and minds of peer influencers within its consumer target: moms and savvy singles. The Method Pop-Up Shop was the ultimate result.
For the price of a traditional billboard, the Pop-Up Shop reflected the brand’s whimsical personality to the target consumer, while offering a 7-day-a-week, 360-degree experience with the brand and its products — previously available most readily at the nation’s Target retail locations. In addition to operating the store in a normal retail capacity, the Pop-Up Shop hosted regular, targeted Influencer events, including catered parties for specific target groups including Dwell Magazine subscribers, Volvo drivers, local philanthropists and the corporate staff of Design Within Reach.
The Pop-Up Shop — a clean, bright, gallery-like space — opened August 11 one-block off Union Square in downtown San Francisco, and was slated to close two months later (“Like a Summer fling, we’re gone with the changing leaves”). By the end of October, however, the project was deemed a success and a decision was made to stay open through Christmas Eve.
The result of this six-month program? Sparkling! ...Method’s return on investment was palatable: the months of November and December featured enormous surges in return customers and sales; media attention was strong with local and national stories reaching more 3 million consumers; and Method’s existing customer database grew by more than 20%. The buzz was on the streets — Method shopping bags were spotted in every neighborhood, Method t-shirts graced the torsos of Influentials across the city, and the Thursday evening happy hours became a frequent weekly stop for downtown workers on their way home to the suburbs. Method Pop-Up Shops are planned for additional cities in 2005."
...And 2007, and 2008, and... Yay! (PS - See the premium candle line method used to produce, in the upper left photo? Too cool!)

detox boston!

"method is coming to Beantown. we're setting up shop (only temporarily) down on Newbury street so that we can teach people to detox their homes safely and effectively. we're bringing a slew of products with us, so if you're running low, stop by ... we'd love to see you. hop on the Green Line (seems app, huh?) and get off at Hynes/ICA. we're near the donut shop, so if your stomach starts rumbling, you're close.
hurry ... this store is only temporary so you have to come soon (between April 12th and 27th). after that, all that will be left is a pleasing feeling of clean and a lingering scent of cucumber.
when you come, repeat these words: "Beantown is a green town" and we'll give you an additional discount off our detox bundles, which have every product you need to clean up your city.
see you soon, Boston! 329 Newbury st., April 12-27. don't forget. and tell your friends!"
You can find directions here.
