arrivederci, aircare

I so called it. Sad face.

From method's official people against dirty blog:

"it’s time to come clean. today we say ‘bon voyage!’ to a good friend — air care.

our ‘people against dirty’ have been asking for a few months now, “what's happening with method aircare (i.e., air enhancers, aroma rings, plug ins, soy candles and aroma sticks)?” we're sorry we haven’t been able to give you the whole air care story until now.

as many of you have guessed, air care will no longer be part of the method line, but you'll still be able to find our air care products online and at a few retail partners. if you love our air care products, BUY THEM NOW because we don’t have any plans to reintroduce them.

it was a really, really tough decision to exit out of air care. after all, we’re the little guy who brought innovation and heavenly smells to a world of fake pine and aerosol orange. we’re so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish together with our people against dirty in this space. given the size and budgets of bigger companies making similar products, with not-so similar ingredients, we’ve decided to focus on leading the home revolution in areas where we can continue to make a difference — under the counter, in the loo, on the floor, in the sink…well, you get the idea.

we’re really proud of all the air care products we made and are sorry if this news is disappointing. if you're one of the loyal people against dirty who love our air care products, the best places to find them are: methodhome.com, drugstore.com, amazon.com, lowes home improvement centers and duane reade (nyc).

feel free to share your favorite air care memories and scents in the comments below — mine was vanilla apple. thanks for hangin' in there with us."

+

Thoughts? (I personally think this is a REALLY bad move on method's part. But I guess only time will tell.)

This is my favorite quote so far from over on the method Facebook page (where they also posted this news):

"I'm sorry but don't a TON of people make similar natural cleaning products while pretty much NOBODY makes natural air care products?" - I completely agree.

into thin air?

Fudge! I maybe, sorta, mighta been right (about something?! It's about time, but why oh why this!) It's pretty much official... the aircare line is history. At least at your local Target!

This weekend I noticed at one of my nearby Targets that the pill refills were not only sold out, but the stickers on the shelves had been removed and other aircare items had been placed there to take up the extra space. "Hmm..." I thought to myself, "not good! Not good at all!" I attempted another try at prying anymore information about the aircare line out of method's mouth (which aircare wise, has become the equivalent of Fort Knox. Seriously.) Their response was pretty much a "no comment." Ha ha! So, with that in mind, I just decided to wait and see. (But I'm so impatient! I must know now! I have no life, so throw me a bone here, ok? Or, I could just get a life. Eh, that's probably way too hard. Just throw me a bone. That'll do.)

Well, tonight I ran into Target (again?! Don't even go there) and upon entering the aircare line, my heart sunk. The ENTIRE line - clearanced. Well, almost the entire line. Oddly enough, the aroma rings were not clearanced. What the heck is that all about? I can't imagine they sell more aroma rings than every other aircare item to result in Target still carrying them?! Curiouser and curiouser...

So, it looks like I was right. The line is clearanced. Which at least in Target terms for this current version, is the same as discontinued. Lavender + lemongrass. Sweet water. Vanilla apple. - Run, buy, while they're still here! Meanwhile, here are my thoughts.

+

There are three options here, as far as I can tell.

+ Option A. The line is done for. History. Over and out. Neither here, nor there. MIA4EVER. method has just decided to drop the aircare line and be done with it. But, here are the weird things. 1) Target didn't discontinue the aroma rings? Hmm, part of a new line? But why keep these particular scents in the aroma rings, when they didn't in the pills? 2) I'm gonna confess something, given what's happend here I think it's safe for me to do so now. Whenever I'd ask about the line at method, I'd get a "I'd stock up on my favorite aircare products if I were you!" Translation: discontinued! But wait, there's more...

+ Option B. A brand spankin' new aircare line is about to debut! Why not keep the pills then? Well, they want to sell the new scents (and here's hoping they still HAVE the pills, or I will cry scream yell and murder! Well, maybe not murder... but it'll be close!) so they're clearancing off the old ones. But wait... 1) Target isn't clearancing the aroma rings, in the same scents. Even if they came out in new scents, wouldn't they also clearance these current versions if they're doing it to the pills? Gah. And but 2) Many advocates who have called method and asked straight up about the aircare line were told "the aircare line is here to stay. No worries!" But wait, what? You told me to stock up? Is someone just lying? method doesn't lie! Lying is so ungreen! (Right?) Unless... stock up (on the old stuff) but don't worry about the line (cause there will be new stuff!) Whew! Or...

+ Option C. Target is only going to carry the aroma rings. And that's it. No new line. method will still maintain the aircare line, and you'll be able to buy small amounts of it in places like Lowe's (who currently carries them, though not to the extent that Target does.) You'll also be able to buy them on method's online store (though we all know that would cost us a small fortune, so poo poo on that one.)

+

Now, what do YOU think? Will you miss the current aircare line? Do you think another one is on the way? My only other reasoning for thinking we MIGHT be seeing a new one is simply method's tight lips on this. I have never in all my years conversing with method felt so locked out of what was going on with a product line of theirs. I mean, what is the point? If you tell people it's being discontinued, it shouldn't hurt sales; in fact it might help them cause people will go and stock up before it's gone. And if you tell them there is a new line, people will still stock up on the old stuff AND be excited for the new stuff. But I'm thinking maybe, MAYBE we'll be seeing a new line and method's just being really hush hush about this one 'til the big debut!

Either way, we should know in mere weeks. Once Target finally pulls the remaining aircare product from the shelves, and puts them on the endcaps (like they always do).. and we find out just what they put in it's place? Hmm...

spit n' polish?

I have a confession to make. Are you ready? Ok, here goes. I lust me some method aircare! Capital L. capital U. capital S. and oh yes, capital T. It's the greatest! And I feel a really important part of that whole cleaning process! (Plus it just makes the cleaning even more fun, as even though all our wonderful method cleaning products have amazing scents; they don't tend to linger very long once the cleaning is finished. But some spritzes around the house of aroma spray, or a slowly burning candle keeps their wonderful scents wafting throughout your home all day long!)

Personally (and I'd love to get your thoughts on this, as well!) I don't think of aircare as a "occasional/not necessary" cleaning item. As I just said, I can clean my house up all spic and span great, but uhm, cats (and kids if you've got them) and all that stuff, well, it can leave your house not so great smelling! And that's where aircare comes in! Once your house is looking all grand from some omop mopping, and some all-surface squeaky cleaning, it's really the aircare (in my humble opinion) that keeps the clean going! Like those awesome aroma pills and rings that make my house smell luscious, constantly! And then throw in some aroma spray for those quick scent disasters, and a candle to not only add atmosphere to your house, but great MMMs, and it all comes together perfectly!

And you know what else, I'm shocked that this line within the cleaning aisles is so limited to only a few companies. Glade, and to a degree Renuzit, pretty much OWN the aircare aisles! I've never really figured that one out, because really, most times their scents do not win me over. "Rain Covered Mountains", "Springtime Showers", "Fruit Feista" what kind of scents are thoses?! (Ok, well, ones I just made up, but usually their names are rather close!) I'll stick with my lavender lemongrass, or vanilla apple method aircare, thank you. At least you know what you're getting (lavender, and oh yeah, lemongrass!) and that it's also great for the environment, and you!

+

But here's my question. Do you think it's time for some spit n' polish to the method aircare line? It seems to have been languishing for a bit, and I think it needs a slight shakeup! Honestly, within the last half year or so, the line has really slowly been restocked in my local Target stores for some reason; often times leaving big gaps in their aircare selections. And aircare used to feature four regular scents, along with (usually) a limited edition spring scent (and fall!) Now we've got three regular scents, and (at least this year) no limited edition spring.

Plus, and I can't believe I'm about to say this, as I LUST me some lavender lemongrass, but for the greater good of the line, I think it's time for a complete scent reinvention! Here's MY thoughts on improving the line:

+ Reduce. The aroma sticks have to go. I love them, don't get me wrong. But the price point is too high, we've all wanted method to provide sticks, oil, and a vase separately (which obviously they're never going to do. But OH, I saw that Target is now offering this in their candle aisle! Sticks, a little bottle of oil, and a vase; in different scents and shapes to choose from! Make your own aroma stick set! I love it! So it is possible, method! Ha ha!) Keep the aroma sticks as a holiday line item. That's where I think they work best.

+ The Trinity. I consider (and some of you lusters aren't going to like what I'm about to say) the Trinity of method aircare to be: candles, aroma spray, and pills. Like I mentioned above, the pills provide continuous scents to make your home smell great; the candles provide atmosphere and additional scent when you want it, and the aroma spray provides quick solutions to "disaster smells". LOL

+ But, I know lots of folks out there that love their aroma rings over pills, SO perhaps they should hold on to those as well (in bamboo? Better for the environment, and prettier!) Four items. Four scents.

+ Four new scents. I'm willing to sacrifice my favorite scents, if it means perhaps reinvigorating the aircare line by bringing in four new regular scents. These three they currently sell have been around forever! Ha ha! Time for something new! Imagine the possibilities!

+ Smooth sailing. The candles burn great once again! The aroma sprays work well (I'm still not completely sure about that o-ring; I lust that o-ring, and it's ease of carrying; but it just needs a small round notch cut out on the front bottom, because I'm always having to watch how I point the nozzle, or it'll hit that ring area attached to the bottle and run down the can; but whatevah...), and the pills have always rocked (especially the nightlite version!) And the aroma rings work way better than their original aroma capsules, so I think they've got a great line here. It's just time for some shimmy and shake!

+

Whew! So, what do you think? Am I out of line here? Or could the aircare line use a little spit n' polish? Do you use the aircare line? Do you think it's an important part of your overall cleaning process/keeping the house feeling, and smelling fresh? Comment!

clean sweeps

+ Uhm, ok, yeah. I got some bad news for you all. See that photo to the right? Remember me mentioning how beach sage was comin' back this year in grand spring edition style and form! Well, er, it's not. And I'm so very sorry to disappoint you. In fact, sniff sniff, there will be no spring scents this year! And yes, I can hear that gasp all over the world! I couldn't believe it either, but I've gotten official word. And speaking of that beach sage aroma spray, apparently it was from last years spring edition line? Ok, seriously here, did ANYONE see beach sage aroma spray at their local stores last year? If so, let me know! Because it never made it to a single store near me! Anna from method says "Maybe the distribution on it wasn't that hot if you didn't see it. Sorry about that." I think it was down right incognito?! So either I missed out on something last year (which makes me wonder what else I might have missed out on, that never showed up at my Targets? But then, this spray isn't even available on the method home site? So I'm all confused.) Or I have one rare bottle of beach sage aroma spray, let me tell you! Anyway, sorry for the confusion... (you may give me 50 lashes with a wet noodle now...)

+ Lots of method stuff on sale at Target! Like, almost all of it! Cream body wash, marine naturals body wash, squeaky kids body wash, hand wash, wet wipes, hand wash refills, go, pick some up! And the creamy body wash is $1.00 off right now, which I think is a great deal (as it's a bit pricey if you ask me!) So here's your chance to pick some up! Not sure how long the sale will last, so run while you can!

+ And ok, while the spring edition aircare line is a bust, be sure to check back for a sneak peek on a brand new method product, coming to a store near you OH so very soon! All I can say at the moment, hush hush you know! But I should have all the details in a couple of weeks (if not sooner!) So be on pins and needles, just don't, you know, stick yourself too much, cause you'll lose lots of blood, and then you'll have to go to the hospital, and you won't be anywhere near a computer when I give the sneak! More soon!

sneak peek - special edition aircare!

Check it out! (Hey, how many posts do I begin with those words! Go on, count'em for me... I'll wait! No no, don't. You'd be dead before you reached the end, cause it's like a zillion! I need some new material here, people! I wonder if they have a blog for bloggers that need starting blog sentences? Don't laugh, I bet it exists. Everything exists nowadays, don't ya' know! Let's start again, then...)

Hey'YOW'za! (Like that, I worked hard on it! I did, I did.) What do we have here? Well, nothing more than a big ole' fat method lust sneak peek! It looks like Beach Sage is making a return visit to the special edition spring line this year! AND it's bringing some aroma spray with it this time! It smells just like your tried and true Beach Sage, so get ready! And yes, it's so sneaky peeky, method doesn't even have photography for the product yet, so yours truly had to take the pics! Which... is why they suck. Like, a lot! But whatever, Beach Sage is back, for you Beach Sage fans! (Well, it'll be back with the spring aircare line, which I'm not totally sure when that will hit stores, but I'm gonna put a guess near March! So uhm, hold onto your pants for just a bit longer, ok?) More news as I get it! Enjoy!

holiday specials!

Just wanted everyone to know, right now Target has some great method price specials going on until the 15th! They've got all the holiday hand washes on sale for $2.66, as well as all aroma sprays for $2.99 (one dollar off!), and a few other special prices going on in the aircare aisle!

But the biggest surprise was Target reducing the holiday aroma rings (as it's not listed as a sale price, but instead the regular shelf price sticker has been replaced) from $6.99, to $4.99! What a deal! So while I'm not personally a huge fan of the aroma rings, I finally snagged me a purty spiced pear ring for my bedroom!

Rush over to Target while the specials are still, well, special!

more spray, less dribble

Ok, so believe it or not, I've gotten a few questions concerning the new aroma spray bottles. While we lust the new o-ring design, a small problem is occurring:

"Hey, Nathan I bought one of the aroma sprays last week and every time I spray it, it leaks from around the top part. Have you or anyone else had that experience or did I just get a bum bottle?"

and

"Hey Nathan, I just wanted to know if anyone has mentioned anything to you about the aroma sprays leaking. I purchased vanilla apple, pomegranate, lavendar lemongrass, and citrus cilantro. They all leak when I spray them around my home. The leaking comes from under the neck of the ring. At first I thought that maybe the ones that I have are defective, but all 4 of them? Not sure what the problem is, but I am not enjoying that every time I spray my home I have to wash the leaking fluid off of my hands."

Fortunately, it's not a faulty bottle. Unfortunately, in method's grand reach for all things wonderfully designed, sometimes small issues get missed. In this case, it's not really a big deal, though the new bottle rings do require a little "learning curve."

Here's the thing. (I'll TRY to explain it as good as I can. I'm such a bad explainer, you know?) You might want to watch the bottle as you spray, and see what I'm saying (of course not directly watch, or you'll spray in your face! Moreso to the side.) When you press down on the nozzle, also pull your finger back slightly while pressing, so the nozzle is pointing more up, and spray. If you try this, then try pressing down the nozzle, and pointing the nozzle down a little, you should immediately see the spray hit the ring neck, and drip over it a little. That's what is happening here. Hence, you think it's leaking. I had this happen to me the first time I used it, and went "well this blows. I don't want that every time." But just worked with my spray angle, and haven't had a problem since.

Just remember, it's not the CAN that you adjust, it's just the little trigger nozzle. Again, press nozzle, pull your finger back slightly while pressing, so the nozzle is pointing more up, and spray. Tada! No more drip! (Unless that no good boyfriend of yours is still living in your apartment rent free. Tell him to get a job, or move out! Drip!)

with this ring...

Luster Nate (Ha ha! Not me!) wrote in to say:

"I love the new Method aroma sprays! I remember you said you don't know what the point of the ring is, but I knew exactly what to do! I got home and hung it on the hooks I bought from Ikea! It's perfect!"

I thought it was such a great idea to show us what he's done with his spray, that I'd take a quick pic of mine, as well! I've hung mine on a key hook (I have two, and have always only used the one for my keys) right next to the door! Now if I ever need to quickly freshen the room before answering the door, I can do it with ease. Yay method, you're winning us over with this new aroma spray bottle!

Show us your pics! Where are you hanging your new aroma spray? (Extra points for naughty pics. JOKING, just joking! Whew.)

weekend notes

Ooh, look here! I (literally like ten minutes ago) left a Target near me, having discovered some new method products! Yay!

My first discovery happened to be the new smarty dish cubes! They only had them in pink grapefruit at the moment (with a spot for the Go Naked) so I grabbed up some of the grapefruit to give a try! The package is so tiny, like you can hold it in the palm of your hand small! Wow! Really cool.

Then, I turned right around in the aisle, and was staring at the aircare area! It was a mixed bag, they have yet to get the candles in/or stocked, but they did have most other items. The new vanilla apple aroma sticks, the bamboo aroma ring, the pomegranate tea plugin refill; and the new aroma sprays. ALL of them, except the one I needed, the lavender + lemongrass. How odd? They had a space for it, but nothing was there. I cried a tiny tear, took a moment of silence, and moved on to: the new aroma pill nightlight! Why am I so excited about a nightlight?!? I have no idea, but I whipped it up, and ran to the checkout! (The bamboo ring looks really nice, but being on a limited budget at the moment, the nightlight and dish cubes won out!)

It looks almost exactly like the currently pill version. They've updated their logo to the method circle inside the house (I think they might be heading in the direction of using that for everything down the line, time will tell.) And it DOES turn on when the lights go out in a room, and turn off when they come on, automatically! How cool is that! It emits this subtle blue/white light when it's on, and I think it's great! I'll get the real test tonight, when it's dark out. I put it in the bathroom, I thought that was probably the best room for it, no?

The prices appear to have gone up about a dollar for many of the new items (the bamboo ring is one dollar more than the plastic version; the pill nightlight is one dollar more than it's plain version; and of course said here earlier, the candles are two dollars more.) Here's hoping the new candles pop up soon near me! (And you, too!) OH, and the smarty dish cubes are only $4.99! (Not the $6.99 suggested price we were expecting to pay! Yay!)

+

Oh, unrelated, I uh, totally realized I have yet to post up new polls! What is my problem? Man! Well, I'll get that remedied very soon, alright! So just bare with me for a bit. (Hmm, gotta think up some new questions!)

aircare extreme makeover!

Come on... the return of aroma enhancer sprays, new smarty dish cubes, marine naturals body wash and scrub, pomegranate tea and gingerbread + spice fall edition aircare scents, new squeaky green laundry detergent and dryer cloths... and more! Oh my word!

That's not enough, is it? Nah, not really. I mean, come on, it's method's eighth year birthday month! We're not playin' around here! Let's celebrate! How about a brand new aircare line makeover! SHO'nough!

Get ready, I just got some mind blowing news tonight about some amazing new aircare items and redesigns we'll be seeing very shortly in stores! Many lusters have already noticed the clearancing of the method aircare candles, and oddly, the lavender + lemongrass pill set, and more! What's going on here?! Well, never fear, it's great news! Are you ready? Are you sitting down. This news is so big, I had to release it over the weekend (and I never do that!) I'm so excited!

Alright...

+ First, method's candles are heading back to glass containers (I'm not sure if they'll retain their iconic Karim design/shape, we'll have to wait and see! I'd be surprised if method changed this, BUT I also know they like to constantly shake things up, so who knows!) They've decided to go back to glass (the candles originally came in glass, before redesigning the line, and using ceramic) since glass is actually recyclable, and ceramic unforunately is not (but they make great dessert cups!) So look for all your favorite candle scents back soon, in glass containers!

+ Method is doing a new test concept for their aroma rings! Specifically in the sweet water scent (are you ready for this??) the ring will be made out of bamboo! OH my word! I hear it simply rocks! And looks SWEET! Bamboo aroma rings! Not plastic! I can't wait! One more exclamation point! There you go.

+ And a biggie (a lot of people have been wanting this) they are re-releasing the lavender + lemongrass pill set (no, lavender + lemongrass is not being discontinued! Hallelujah! It's my favorite!) in a nightlite concept! HOW COOL is that! I can't wait! Oh, wait, I already said that!...

+ The aroma pills will now have single and twin refill packs. So you won't have to purchase two at one time, if you don't wish to! They used to be available in single; then went to only twin; and now they'll be available in both!

+ Look for aroma sticks (in their new streamlined vases!) to come in sweet water, lemongrass + lavender, and now vanilla apple.

+ The four main scents are: sweet water, lemongrass + lavender, vanilla apple, and citrus cilantro.

+ The fall scents will come as follows:
Pomegranate Tea - single pill refill, air enhancer spray, candle, aroma ring refill
Gingerbread Spice - pill refill twin, air enhancer spray, candle

The candles, bamboo rings, and aroma air enhancer sprays are heading to stores as I type this! The rest will play catch up! How excited are you? I can't... no, I won't say it again. (psst, I can't wait!)

NO, I don't have pics at the moment, but as soon as I can get my grubby little hands on some, I'll post them pronto! You know I will. I take care of my own kind! Let method lust know if you start seeing any of these items hitting your very own store shelves!

one man review - pomegranate tea aroma spray

I know, all my other posts have it as pomegranate + tea. But apparently on the bottle it's just pomegranate tea (I can't keep up with all the +'s and minuses method uses! Ok, they only use +'s, but it sounded better to include minuses in the list. Beside, she didn't want to be kept out, ya know? How not nice is that?)

Yay! I've gotten the rare and wonderful privilege of giving the new fall edition pomegranate tea aroma spray a try! First off, the bad. (Follow along, it'll all work itself out, I promise.) Upon seeing pics for the new aroma spray bottles, I wasn't too keen on the rings they now sport. I just didn't get it? Plus, I didn't think they looked too good. Secondly, method had a pomegranate hand wash out many moons ago; and they currently have it in many Big Lots stores (during the last big method/Big Lots run!) but to me it smelled like cherry kool-aid. Definitely not a yay in my book.

Now, the good news! (See, I told you, follow through always works out.) The new bottles sorta well, rock! I don't even get it! Honestly, I still don't really "get" the ring. They could have just created a trigger nozzle/bottle combination, and still left the lid off; but I think they wanted to be clever. And while I'm not sure how "clever" the ring is, it doesn't matter, cause it's rather cute! I sincerely like it! In fact, I showed it to my friend, and the first thing she said was "OH, you can hang the bottle up where ever you want to!" and she's sort of right, it would hang in many places. But no matter what it's purpose (other than the actual purpose of preventing accidental spraying) I think it's great! It's really cute, not cheap looking at all. I give the ring a thumbs up!

Secondly, at first I wasn't so sure about the pomegranate tea scent when I sprayed it into the air. Hmm? I don't know. But you know what, it's growing on me! I think I might actually be into it when it makes it into stores (which I'm hoping will be mid-August!) method will probably hate me for saying this, but you know what the scent reminds me of? - black cherries. That pomegranate scent is still cherrying away, but with the added tea, it gives it this deep depth that simply reminds me of the smell of black cherries! I don't know how "fall" the scent feels to me, but never the less, I think it's nice. Time will tell if I really get attached to it, but right now I'm gonna say it's a good scent. Love black cherries? You'll seriously love pomegranate tea!

spray away!

UPDATE I've gotten some word on the rings attached to the tops of the new aroma spray bottles. They are indeed put there for two reasons: one is to remove the need for a cap (and having to remove/put it back on); and the second is so the bottles can't accidentally be sprayed, since they (duh) now have no cap. I agree with method luster Steve, it seems an odd choice of design for method, but we'll see how it goes!

Well look here! method luster Steve has sent us a pic from his Super Target, and they just got the new method aroma sprays in! So they're already hitting the stores! YES!

About the ring? Steve says:

"um, it's a ring. no purpose whatsoever. method ignores it on the back of the label. I like the lidless idea, but method's solution seems a bit odd."

I'd agree. I was somehow hoping they'd redesign the trigger spray, make it a seamless part of the bottle (Febreze bottle style, and such) but huh? I'll have to check it out in person and see. Hopefully soon! I guess you can just use the ring to carry around the bottle?

aroma spray redux

O' my! (Get it, O? O!) Take a good look, it's the new aircare aroma spray bottles! They'll be beaming brightly on shelves in mid-August! What do you think?

Apparently (I don't have the actual details, so this could all be wrong.) But the new bottles have been redesigned without their lids, now sporting O ring "handles" which you can use to carry the bottles. Or perhaps they're the triggers you somehow use for spraying? Thoughts? What do you think of the new design! Speak up, or forever spray in peace. Opinions make the world go'round. I'll let you know more details on the new packaging/spray trigger/O handle once I've gotten some. (method professionals, got any insight? I know you're reading this! I can see you!)

(PS - Take a quick look in the background, you'll be able to see the new Pomegranate Tea image design shown on one of the bottles. Looks like the scents coming back will be Lavender + Lemongrass, Vanilla Apple, and Sweet Water; and while I'm not sure, Citrus Cilantro is shown in the pic, so perhaps it's sticking around post-spring edition? And then we have the Gingerbread + Spice and new Pomegranate Tea scents for fall. Can't wait!)

tiny updates, big news!

Two bits of news: one, the aircare aroma spray line is set to return in mid-August! So excited! I don't have details yet, not sure if we're talking new packaging here or not, etc. Mid-August seems to me to be right around fall debuts (though I could totally be wrong there.) So we might also be seeing the spring/summer limited editions replaced out with the fall limited editions (I'm pretty sure gingerbread + spice is returning. Not sure what the other scent will be.) But YES, our beloved aroma sprays are about to return to our lives! Spray strong, lusters! Spray strong!

And two: A moment of long silence. The Charlotte detox pop-up store DREAM OF A LIFETIME... has been debunked. It appears the Charlotte store will not be happening. (But I say, let's make it happen! If enough of us express interest, perhaps method will think it over? Huh, huh? I mean, I know you would have thought just the mere fact of my living in North Carolina would have brought them here, but alas! (And no, my ego is not that inflated! Why, the very thought. It was a joke, people. A joke! Oh dear...) I'm also hearing that Minneapolis may not be next on the list. Hey, I can't be right ALL the time! (Another joke, people! Geesh!) More news as I hear it.

And three: (What, there was no three?!) Nathan once again forgot his method profiles in-fo-may-she-on!, so look for it AGAIN tomorrow. He's let me know he promises to never slack off like this again. Well, at least not until next Wednesday. Sometimes he likes to talk about himself in third person. He's not sure why.

longings for you

So while I was at the dentist (or oral surgeon, or whatever they call the people that do the big dental work and charge you lots of money) getting my root canal retreatment done (gah, I'd rather be poked and prodded by a doctor all day long then go to the dentist. I just hate it...) anyway, I took a step into the bathroom there, and what was on the counter top but method sweet water aroma spray! That's two dentists I've gone to, and they both had a method product! Sorta crazy cool, ain't it?

It got me to longing for the aroma spray, and wondering whenever it was going to come back? And why everyone at method was ignoring my previous request for any information they may have pertaining to it's return. Which scared me cause they really don't want to tell us, cause I bet it's going to be a long while. But no no, that's alright, we don't want to know. Definitely don't leave a comment or anything, cause we're not interested. No way. Uh-uh. (Reverse psychology. Think it'll work?)

But anyway, it also intrigued me cause the bottle was on the counter top without it's lid, for ease of use I guess. And it got me to thinking about the current Febreze bottles, and how the "lid" is a trigger "lid", meaning no real lid, just a trigger you spray. And I was thinking, I wonder if method might also be taking the time for an aroma spray bottle redesign while they wait out the other issues? And if so, would you like a trigger spray like this? Would it make spraying easier (no lid to remove and put back on. Ok, ok, I know, how lazy can we be? But still...) Curiosity wants to know. Immediately, cause well, curiosity is a bit of an, ahem, and if you don't get right back to her, she throws a fit, ok? I'm just sayin', is all.

spray for me

Wait, wait, whoa! Slow down! Stop giggling and getting all light-headed! Listen for a moment...

On February 11, 2008 method recalled their aroma spray line, and released the following announcement:

"During routine testing of our Aroma Spray, our Quality Assurance Team identified a contaminant in the formula. This contaminant is a common bacteria found in our drinking water, food and soils and is very unlikely to cause harm to healthy people. While our test results indicate there is unlikely to be a risk to the general population, there may be some risk to those with compromised immune systems, so we have voluntarily withdrawn our product while we obtain greater clarity around this issue."

So it's been about three months now (and to be honest, I'm not sure how long it takes to clear up items like this? That's why I design websites, and don't make cleaning products.) But I've been thinking about the aroma sprays over the weekend (I really don't have much to do, do I?) No no, it's just my house hasn't been smelling it's most wonderful as of late (let's chalk it up to my lovable, but house destructive cats); and my lavender + lemongrass aroma spray is really low (which I did hold on to. I'd had it a while, and yes I realize method recommended disposing of your aroma sprays; but only for those with compromised immune systems; and so I held on to mine) And I dare not crack into my two bottles of fig, as that is discontinued forever and ever and is my favoritest fragrance so it can only be used in times of great emergency or when I want my house to smell absolutely amazing for a date (therefore, I'll never need to crack into my fig. Ha ha!) But it got me to thinking, I'm going to check and see how things are going, aroma spray wise?

I'll let you all know as soon as I get some kind of word on an update, good or bad!

febreze me, please

Aren't these rather cute? (They're not method, you can't say that! Sacrilege, I tell you, sacrilege! Hold those horses, now. I'm getting to a point here. Really? That'd be a first...) Have you seen them in stores recently?

They're the Febreze fabric refresher, in their new decor line. The copy reads: "The Febreze Fabric Refresher freshness you love is now available in a bottle that blends with your home décor. Leave it out for easy-to-reach fabric freshness, any time." And now, WHO does that sound like? How easy would it be for method to roll out a product of this nature. I know a lot of people have been requesting some manner of Febreze like product from method (and, again (I SWEAR I'm going to do a retrospect on the vroom line very soon, just gotta get that product photo taken! Because so many products in the vroom line would work wonderfully for method (vroom was a method line at Target a few years ago, for your car/truck. MORE, soon!)

Anyway, they had an upholstery spray that worked wonderfully well, and came in the three amazing scents (one was sea flower, MAN I would love for method to roll that scent back into their line. It was heavenly!) And I was told, after asking if this would work, that I could indeed use the spray in my home, on the carpet/couch, etc. And what would that make it? Febreze, via method! So how simple would it be for them to bring that product back, rename it, repackage it, and rock the Febreze world!

Real simple, is what I'm getting at! Let's cross our fingers! (And oh, but am I missing the aroma spray line right now, man! It's been a couple months, I'm wondering how that's going? Time will tell. Oh aroma spray, come back! Come back, come back Shane! Shane, come back Shane, Shane, come back Shane! Come back... oh, wait, sorry about that.) And how many people get THAT reference? sigh... I have way too much time on my hands.
