seal of approval!

I'm not sure if method's new laundry detergent will be carrying the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval any time soon, but those Good Housekeeping people sure are lovin' the new detergent! Here's what they have to say:

"method Laundry Detergent Pump Review by Carolyn Forte

By now, you've probably noticed a new, kind of out-of-the-ordinary detergent bottle in the laundry aisle of your favorite store. Slim, compact, and topped with a handy pump, Method's new 8x concentrated laundry detergent is making conventional detergent bottles look well, obsolete.

Say goodbye to messy pouring and accidental spills. And remember my advice about overusing detergent? With this new design there's no more looking for that virtually invisible line inside the cap. Simply pump in what you need; 2 squirts for a small load, 4 for medium, and 6 for large. Got a stain? Pump a little directly on it, too.

I've been using it at home, and simply love the convenience (and the neatness). Of course, being GHRI, we had to test its ability to remove stains, and we were impressed. The plant-based formula completely erased grass, egg, even ink from our cotton test swatches.

Suitable for both traditional and HE machines, the detergent comes in two scents, Fresh Air and Peony Blossom, and Free + Clear for those who prefer no scent at all.

Kudos to Method for thinking "out of the jug"!"

Pretty awesome, no? So what has your experience with method's new laundry pump detergent been? Love it? Hate it? Love it a little bit - sorta how you feel about olives? Hate it but secretly love it but you're passive aggressive so you pretend to hate it while really loving it and hoping one day it'll come around to realizing you really love it and are just pretending to hate it? (Oh wait, or was that me and my last boyfriend? I get everything so confused sometimes...) Comment away!

I am a big fan of the Free + Clear detergent. It's kind of fun to use, and it does a great job of cleaning my laundry.

I really love the convenience factor of not having to measure the detergent. HOWEVER. They really do mean 2 for a small load. I made the mistake of just always using 4, and, last time I ended up having to rewash the load (sans any detergent) because it didn't rinse out well and my clothes REEKED of the fragrance. So badly that I yanked my PJs off in the middle of the night because the smell was making me sick! (ok, maybe TMI... but I did put new ones on, LOL!)

The only other prob I have is now that the bottle is less than 1/2 full, sometimes the pump sticks and doesn't give me a full squirt... so I am left wondering, should I use another full pump or not? After the "too much" scenario, I've been choosing to not pump again.

Love it! I haven't had any problems with pump sticking, and my clothes smell nice but not overpowering.

I love how small the packaging is. My laundry cupboard has lots of room for other things(like the aroma line that I am stocking up on from Liquidation World, and the 3 bottles of peppermint vanilla dish soap, and the "oooo method is on sale, but lots" stash.

It also has done a great job removing the daily food and dirt that my kids manage to cover themselves with. Most "good for the environment" laundry soaps suck at stain removal, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I have a HE washer/dryer set by LG and I feel like I can get away with using 2 pumps detergent for all my laundry. If I didn't have my own washer, I'd be totally thrilled to tote this mini no-spill bottle to the laundromat (or parents' house if they're still cool with that) Years ago I had a car in which the entire trunk was saturated with a large bottle of laundry detergent. Yuck.

Semi-related, but we've also started cutting our Smarty Dish pills in half with just as pleasing results as if we'd used the whole pill.
