pimpin' the perks

Have you gotten your $1 off all-purpose spray cleaner coupon yet? For shame on you! Go, now. This is not a suggestion. I'm serious. No really, so serious. Man, you're as stubborn as my boyfriend! Oh, he's gonna get me for that one. For reals, go!

hot showers

Wow! And what's this all about? Eh, does it even matter? Just stare at the eye candy! Oh ok, well, I guess it would help to figure out what the Harlequins rugby players have to do with method? Right? Wait, hold on, ok, I've just got to stop staring. It's not polite...

Well, go to method's "Share a Shower" campaign Facebook page to learn all the details! It's squeaky clean adult fun! (Oh, not that kind of adult! Shame on you! Really, now?!)

things that make you go...

Looks like method's lemon mint limited edition scent (currently available in dish soap and hand wash) might not be headed for method Heaven after all! A new post on method's Facebook page revealed:

Advocate: Dear method, please dont get rid of lemon mint dish soap. It is my favorite dish soap. It says on the bottle that it is limited edition. PLEASE DONT GET RID OF IT!

method: don't worry, it's not going anywhere. ;)

+

Hmm! Personally, I wasn't too impressed with lemon mint. method is doing themselves a huge injustice by not giving us lemongrass dish soap (to match their lemongrass kitchen hand wash. Hello, method, it's a no-brainer! And not just because I lust your lemongrass scent like crazy!)

Lemon mint vs. lemongrass? Your opinion?

holiday tease

I don't know about you, but I'm just about over these mid-ninety degree days! Summer has barely begun, and my air conditioner has already let me know it can't keep up! So you know what, my thoughts are floating off to snow! And holidays! And Santa Claus! Cause it's never too early to start thinking about Christmas and the holidays, right? Of course not! And even method has gotten in on the fun, posting this interesting little tease over on their Facebook discussion page:

"dear lovers of mint,
stay tuned for holiday 2011.

love, method
"

Ohh, do they have me excited! I'm already dreaming of the possibilities! (Though I pray to my minty Gods above that it's not simply method bringing back peppermint vanilla again. I lust you method, but please give us some exciting new holiday scents this year!)

So cross your fingers, tap your snow boots together, and dream mint filled holiday dreams (even if it is only June!) Well, unless you don't like mint (which I've discovered there are actually a few of you out there, and honestly, you're not right. There is something seriously wrong with you. No, really. Like, seek medical and mental attention immediately, ok. I'm just sayin'... not right.)

Check out method's all wrapped up official laundry room love video! So adorable! Did you contribute?

body 2 body

Here's another chance to be heard by method! Recently over on Facebook they asked what people liked/disliked/wanted to see from their body wash line (past and present.) Today they're asking more details about not only their marine naturals body wash line (which it seems many method advocates have begun to notice missing from their Target store shelves? I'm not sure what's up, my Targets are still plenty stocked, but it's something to keep in mind,) but also body care in general!

"Now a follow-up question: have you used our marine naturals body wash? tell us what you think. and if you're feeling inspired, let us know what else you'd like to see in body care from method."

As we all know, body care was something they tried out with body lotion, body wash, body bars, body scrub and shaving cream years ago. But then they decided to shelve most of the line, and the body wash was all that survived. Sounds like there might be new plans for expanding the line! So jump into the discussion over on their Facebook page, and give them your wants, desires and of course, lusts for a new method body care line! (Ooh, I get happy goosebumps just thinking of it!)

method's makin' a music video, and you can be a part of it! (You've always wanted to secretly be a rock star, right? Well, now's your chance!) Head on over to watch this video (it'll give you all the details - hurry, contest ends April 15th!) and you'll also get a $2 off coupon for their awesome laundry detergent, just for viewing the video! It can't get any better than that, can it? (And hey, while you're over on method's Facebook page, if you haven't (what?!) already signed method lust's official bring back method aircare petition, you can now! It's a three for one! video + coupon + petition = too much rockin' for one day! Whew. Take it easy. Sit down. Breathe deep.)

contest! - surprise, surprise!

The contest is over. But please add your name to the Facebook petition, if you haven't already done so! The winner will be announced soon!

+

Why can't you people just do as I say?! (I jest, I jest! Or wait, do I?) Alas, I cannot yet make people do my bidding through mind control, so until that capability is made possible, I'll just have to settle for blogs. And begging. And oh right, contests! Cause when you can't get someone to do what you want them to do, giving them something for their time will usually help things along! Hold on. Did I just say all that out loud? Will the very acknowledgement of my plan prevent method lusters from following through simply out of spite? Nah! It's a contest! Yay!

So here's the thing! You all aren't signing method lust's official "bring back method aircare" petition over on method's Facebook page. Oh sure, you have excuses! "I had to wash the dog!" "CSI was on!" (Really, CSI in some version is always on! That's not even a good excuse.) "My house caught fire and my laptop was inside!" (You couldn't have just ran in really fast and grabbed your laptop? I mean, you can always take more photos of loved ones, but aircare is gone! Gone, I tell you?!) Well, I won't hold it against you (yes I will) and instead I'm offering up a dandy deal! It's so easy a chimp can do it! Seriously, I tested my theory out - at the zoo. And Bananas passed with flying colors. Bananas is the chimp's name. No, I'm serious. Yes I am, stop looking at me that way.

All you gotta do is a) add your name to the comment section on this post. Then b) head on over to (let's all say it out loud) method lust's official "bring back method aircare" petition and add your plea for aircare's return! And that's it! (You know you want aircare back, right!) I matchy-match your name from method lust's comment section here with your post over on the petition, and one of you will win this contest! But you have to do both things, ok?

And that's it! Contest ends March 31, 2011, 12 AM EST! And the winner will be announced here! And just to tempt you even more, the winner will receive a super duper rare old school straight from my method vault product, in a scent you're nose has probably never had the chance to sniff! That's all I'm gonna say! But I just know the winner will lust it!

So hurry on up! Get to it! Or I'm gonna sic Bananas on you! (The monkey, not the fruit!? Remember, earlier in this post, from the zoo, oh argh...)

clean sweeps

+ People! I know many of you who read this blog! And I know you are not doing your method lust duty! Shame, shame, on you! Don't make me plead and beg, please! Or, ok, I will, if you want! On my knees! Whatever it will take for you to snatch up a mere ten seconds of your day and go here! It's the "official bring back method aircare" petition! And I need YOUR help with this! I want as many signatures as I can get on this sucker! Do it for me! Or your dog, or your mother, or your favorite tv show, or for Oreos! But purty please, just do it. So simple, so quick. Sign your name (with a "please give us aircare back, yo!") and you're done! Thank you from the very bottom of my big ole' heart! (But do it already! Don't make me come to your house! You know I will. And I know where you live. Oh yes, yes, I do. Don't test that, you might be surprised...)

+ Be on the lookout for select method all purpose spray cleaners which are sporting nifty .75 cents off coupons good for any method item of your choosing! Coupons are always a good thing! method coupons are like, doubley good! I'd even yell out a tripley good, but my therapist tells me I tend to over exaggerate. So let's all just keep it real, and stick with doubley, ok? Alright.

petition, please!

Oh dear! method's gonna either lust my enthusiasm, or wanna beat me over the head with an eco-friendly sustainable forest derived stick for this one. But sometimes you just gotta do what'cha gotta do, ya know? So here goes!

Remember when ole' method discontinued their aircare line early last year? We all sniffed and whined and begged and pleaded and well, ok, most of us just sniiffed and whined. But the time has come for begging and pleading!

Every day I notice someone posting on method's Facebook page "where did aircare go?" (Hey, do they live under a rock? Don't they read method lust?! Aren't they as obsessed as I am with method products and stalk the Target store shelves each and every time they go shopping, and shouldn't they have noticed the aircare was gone like, last March? No, well, ok, so maybe everyone isn't as obsessed as I am! Well, I just call it lack of initiative! Ha!)

So (are you still with me, how many readers do I lose with my rambling rants? Hmm?!) I've decided it was time for an official "bring back method aircare" petition! On method's discussion board Facebook page! This is all you have to do! Head on over to the discussion board page, and add your post to the list! Just a little "one more advocate begging for aircare to come back!" or a "pretty please, more aircare would be the bee's knees!" and that's it! The more posts we get on our "official petition" the more method just might listen to us advocates, and the better our chances are of getting aircare back! It might be the old school aircare, it might be brand new aircare (and even more environmentally-friendly!) But no matter, we'd just lust it's return! Our stuffy homes are begging for some wonderous mingling method scents wafting in the air!

So get to it, go sign the petition today (don't post in the comments section here! Well, I mean, please feel free to do so, but also make sure you go sign officially on their Facebook thread!) Thanks!

the dish

Recently over on method's Facebook page, an advocate posted the following:

"I've been using Method now for over a year and I love, love, love your products. But I must say - you need to re-think your dish detergent bottle. When your hands are wet - it's hard to hold on too. I've dropped that bottle [thank god it's plastic] so many times. I got tired and switched to Greenworks. If you remake the bottle I would gladly switch back..."

to which method replied:

"Hey carolyn, we hear you loud and clear. keep you eyes open come fall, we think you'll be pleasantly surprised!"

+

Sounds like we're getting a new dish soap bottle! (In fact, while it's all extremely vague at the moment, I believe this fall we'll be getting more than just a new dish soap bottle for the kitchen! Tease, tease.)

What do you think? Like the current bottle, have the same issues? Some people have suggested taking the new laundry "lighthouse" bottle, and using that design for the dish soap. What do you think? I mean, sure, I've dropped the bottle a time or two, but it really hasn't bothered me as much as it seems to do other method users. What's your experience?

stung?

"Please cancel your coconut cream + honey moisturizing hand wash and go back to being a 100% vegan, cruelty free company!"

"Please reconsider your decision to move away from products that are 100% vegan. I feel good about purchasing your products based on the fact that they are vegan - please don't change that."

"I only buy from companies that do not use any animal ingredients in any products and that also do not animal test. I'm very disappointed that you've made the wrong decision to add animal ingredients into a product. Please rethink this repulsive decision otherwise I certainly will not be buying method products anymore."

"I only bought your shower cleaner because it was cruelty-free. It's worked well & I was thinking of buying more products from you. If you're not keep your items cruelty-free, I'll find a company that will."

"You're a cleaner clean? I don't think so, you guys are more like a dirtier clean! Shame on you people for using animal ingredients."

"I was always a big fan of your company. As a strict vegan and a sufferer of chemical sensitivities, I found your products to be a lifesaver, but after learning that you are no longer a vegan company and are now using honey in one of your products, I'll have to find another source."

+

I swear to you I woke up today, and the vegan lynch mob had taken over method's Facebook account! Now, now, hold on - I don't mean that in any sort of jesting or negative manner; it was just yesterday was "Oh look violet bloom!" and today was "Holy crap, are they angry!" as post after post like this was showing up on the method Facebook page. I don't even have a clue where or when this all started? It (seems to) have happened that fast.

method's response (which they posted ad nauseam, just to make sure everyone understood where they were coming from (especially after the whole Soap Suds video incident) is:

"To our vegan friends:

Thanks for reaching out to us with your concerns. Since the beginning, we at Method have been committed to our beliefs as a vegan and cruelty-free brand. You are correct in bringing to our attention that a trace amount of honey in our new moisturizing hand wash is not vegan. We will start working immediately to re-formulate and remove honey from the product.

In an effort to create a moisturizing hand wash using natural and naturally-derived ingredients, we sought after some that are known for their moisturizing benefits, such as aloe and honey. This was an oversight on our end. We’re very sorry that we’ve disappointed you.... See More

Please rest assured that with this exception, all Method products are vegan and cruelty-free. We ensure that none of our suppliers do any animal testing on our behalf and have lobbied to gain acceptance for our non-animal product testing protocols from regulatory agencies, retailers and consumers. For our product safety testing, we use in-vitro (non-animal) simulated skin and eye irritation tests and have been successful in lobbying various federal and state agencies to accept these test methods in the place of animal test results.

A few efforts we’re particularly proud of:
• method dryer cloths – we pioneered a technology that uses plant-based softeners instead of animal fat, which is a standard ingredient in dryer sheets
• The beautiful colors in our soaps never come from animal by-products
• In 2006, PETA named our two co-founders ‘Person of the Year’ for their commitment to creating innovative and cruelty-free products

We hope you can forgive us for our mistake and trust that we will correct this issue as soon as possible.

Thanks, Method"

+

Ok, honestly, I didn't know honey was such a big deal. Then again, I'm not a vegan, and I have a feeling they might be really angry if they knew I drank real milk, instead of soy milk? (And uhm, ate honey?) Who knows. My question to you is a) are you vegan? And b) what are your thoughts on all of this? Comment away!

you ylang-ylanged?

method's got a big ole' question for you over on their Facebook page! Don't be left out on having your voice heard on this one, as it concerns a product (and a scent) they've had around fo'EVER!

"survey for the sniffer: we’re thinking of changing the method daily shower spray fragrance. keep it the same - ylang ylang; or a new scent; or eucalyptus mint? tell us why!"

So click on over and give them your opinion (we all know you have one! - And they've already received over 145 comments!) AND then also let us know what you think, here in method lust's comments section!

Do you lust ylang-ylang? Or is it so ylong-ylong? Oy vey.

+

Personally, I think they've reduced the strength of the scent recently. With the last bulk refill I purchased I noticed two things. Suddenly the contents had gone from clear, to a light yellowish tint. And it used to be, you'd spray that and get an immediate rush of ylang-ylang. And now, with this new bottle, I barely notice the scent. So unless I'm losing my sense of smell, I think they've already made some changes. Some people complain it's too strong. Thoughts?

the comments are in...

...concerning method's decision to discontinue the entire aircare line (something many people don't seem to have grasped yet. A few think they've only discontinued the pills, perhaps because of the photo they used with their article?) And peeps, they ain't happy! (Count me as part of this group, too!) Here's just some (of the many) comments taken from method's official blog, and Facebook page:

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Are the pill plug in parts recyclable? I have so many... Very sad."

"i'm sorry but don't a TON of people make similar natural cleaning products while pretty much NOBODY makes natural air care products???"

"I can't find any equivalent for air care, nothing anywhere! There are NO plug ins! But there are a shed load of eco friendly cleaning products! Talk about missing a trick."

"no more lotions and no more candles. besides my mom needing some cleaning sprays once in awhile this is pretty much good bye for me."

"I'm seriously, really and truly, UPSET about this. These are the only air fresheners I trust in our home. The ingredients in all the others are such a mystery to me. I use the lavender ones both at home and at work, since lavender helps a lot with headaches. I also love the sweet water and the holiday scents. I was willing to pay more for them ..."

"VERY upset about this. I hope there is some new amazing air product to replace these. I hate when I find products I love and then they change or are discontinued. Just ends up making me shop elsewhere. Not smart Method."

"Please bring back the aircare line!!!"

"honestly, i used to go OUT OF MY WAY to buy the air care b/c i'm really sensitive to chemicals & perfumes (even though i have to drive to another city to get it). i do have some of their cleaning products, but now that i live in a town w/o a target, i do end up buying seventh generation for cleaning. air care was the only thing keeping me with method. i bet they are going to regret this move."

"I can't believe the aircare line has been discontinued! the aroma plug-ins are the only air-care products that lasted a long time, didn't smell like a chemical and came in a beautifully designed package. has anyone found out why it was discontinued?"

"Just came back from hoarding AromaPills & Rings @ Target. This was so not a good business decision. ;("

+

And then my favorite, apparently from a very optimistic person:

"i believe one day they will emerge again... :)"

How's that for hope?

who doesn't lust a good man in a uniform...

...Oh, it's not THAT kind of Marine, is it? Oh, ok, sorry there. Well, method has announced the big marine naturals line, sending out an email today! In case you're not on their mailing list (yet!), it reads (also available on their people against dirty blog):

"We’re so excited about our newest line of personal care products! Like all method products, we give you the good stuff – refreshing ingredients like sea salts and kelp extracts – without the bad – like EDTA, which bonds to heavy metals in waterways, or triclosan, an anti-bacterial officially classified as a pesticide by the EPA.

In fact, with fragrances like sea minerals, water flower, and refresh mint, it’s so invigorating that it reminds us of our skinny-dipping days. come on, you know you’ve done it too. We’re so sure that you have a good skinny-dipping story that we’ll send out some free Marine Naturals to the person that leaves the best one here in the comments section, or on the wall of our Facebook page by Friday, Oct. 10. Just, er, keep it clean, ok folks?

Look for Marine Naturals at Target and other retailers."

+

Take note of that last line. It appears they don't have plans to sell marine naturals on the method home site as of this moment! I know that's disappointing for some lusters out there that have yet to find it at their local Target. Hopefully it'll hit soon! In the meantime, go read those skinning dipping stories!

face the method

Are you a member of Facebook? Come on, you know you need to be! Why? Well, because then you can join the method: People Against Dirty Facebook group!

And we all wanna be a part of that, don't we? And unlike MySpace, where you sorta start feeling a like well, lame for being a member over there (because, uh, it's mostly high schoolers, right? Ok, well I'm a member, but uh, don't tell anyone, ok? In fact the other day I was asked by this I swear fifteen year old girl that had an apparent crush on me if I had a MySpace account (Ah! So cute! But uh, the information she obviously doesn't have on me now, right? Geesh. And the fact that she's fifteen! Oh, and a girl! And she's fifteen! (and a girl!) And uh, I said I didn't have a MySpace account cause I was "too old for that." Yeah, I lied, ok. I lied! Where was I? Oh yes. Degression, you are my enemy. ...But over on Facebook, it's for college students! And hey, don't we all wish we were still college students, full of dreams for the future; hopes and goals for all mankind, and that we could, you know, sleep in 'til noon before going to classes! No? Ok, well neither do I... uh, no, of course not. The great thing is, Facebook has opened it's doors to anyone, so we don't have to be a college student! Yay! Cause that was so, like, a long time ago! Sigh...)

So be sure to sign up on Facebook, THEN join up with the method: People Against Dirty Facebook group! Oh, and don't forget your kegger! (Ok, ok, I know, enough of the college jokes. Geesh, Nathan, you've never drank from a "kegger" in your life. I know, I know...)
