dishin' it

What do we want? We want method to make a dish soap refill! Just like their hand wash!

How are we gonna get it! We're gonna ask real nice like!

Have we done that? Yes we have!

Yay!

UPDATE Reader Steve mentions:
"not gonna happen until method redesigns the dish soap bottle (at least redesign the lid.) the current bottle has a lid that is not meant to come off until the bottle is empty. it messes up the built in stopping point so people don't accidently screw the cap off and dump half a bottle into the sink. and the refill would also have to be at least a 50 oz refill (who would buy a refill that only fills the bottle one time?)"

At first I agreed with him, but then I started thinking about it a little more.

1) I personally don't know if the bottle lid does or does not come off (but I'm going to go with Steve's thoughts, as it sounds like he's tried it.) But when I first purchased the flame bottle (the first design), I used to think that lid never came off. Then one day I tried JUST a little harder than usual, and POP, it came right off! (And went back on!) And I haven't had a problem with it leaking, so perhaps the lid would come off the new design? But never the less, the bottle does need (and I think is getting) a new design, so it would all probably be a moot point down the line.

2) I don't necessarily think the refill would need to be 50 oz. or more. The real reason for refill packaging is to reduce the packaging used for their products. While it's great that the hand wash gives you a little over two bottles worth of refill in their refill packages; I think people would still purchase the dish soap refills in their 25 oz. size, because that refill bag uses a LOT less plastic than a brand new dish soap bottle does. So in the end, it's more about using less plastic/being able to pack more for shipment (which saves gasoline, etc.); than getting more product. What are your thoughts? Chit-chat! And thanks Steve, for your point of view!

sorry to be so pessimistic, but i'm just speaking my mind. keep up the good work!

I use a refillable dish soap dispenser by Simple Human, so I definitely second the motion to introduce a dish soap refill!

Thanks Nathan! Love this blog!

Yep, the current bottle can't be refilled. We tried to open it up to add water to get the last bit out, and it broke in the process. I did notice that they added a little "thumb dent" to the design recently though, which is good. I've never dropped a bottle of dish soap so many times as this one! Good fix!

I actually use the method dish soap as a refill for my Dawn foaming pump. I just fill the Dawn pump up about 1/4 of the way with Method, then top it off with water and shake. It works like a dream.

What I really want is refills on the creamy hand washes. I'm addicted but hate that there aren't refills.

I agree with Nathan. The reason i buy refills is not for the amount of soap ut the amount of plastic saved. I also prefer to stick to my karim rashid bottle so I'd love the refill bag just to stop wasting plastic!
